FromSoftware has today deployed a new PS5, PS4 patch for Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree that works to make the final boss fight a little easier. Due to the subject of this update, there will be spoilers below.
The battle against Promised Consort Radahn has been changed in six different ways, as detailed by the studio below:
- Changed the action pattern when the battle starts.
- Adjusted some attack moves.
- Decreased the damage of some attacks.
- Decreased stamina damage of some attacks.
- Decreased the attack range of some non-weapon-based attacks.
- Improved the visibility of some attack effects.
When fighting Radahn, players have often complained about how difficult it can be to read some of his attacks — especially in the second phase when he lifts up into the air and shoots down projections of himself at you. It's likely this issue has been addressed by update 1.14, and now you'll also simply lose less HP from select attacks. At the very start of the encounter, as you pass through the fog door, it sounds like Radahn also won't directly launch himself at you.
Patch 1.14 also brings with it some balance changes in PvP and others that impact the whole game. Some of the weapon arts have had their attack speed increased, and the Rellana's Twin Moons spell has had its range increased. Some incantations are addressed alongside a long list of bug fixes. You can read the full list of patch 1.14 notes through the link.
Will these Radahn nerfs finally help you beat him? Let us know in the comments below.

Easy beat him first time. No idea why people were struggling
yea, was waiting for the inevitable nerf on this, but, honestly at this point I think I'm done with Elden Ring.
I'll honestly admit I had just about given up, even if I came close a few times. So I'll take the nerf, thanks.
Sounds too easy now so I won't play the game
Devonia's Hammer buffed. best news of the week so far.
@jrt87 Exactly, I also found the worldwide acclaimed most difficult Malenia easy, but struggled against this fackin Consort. So yeah it all depends on your build.
I had to summon an online player for the first time ever in a Souls game to beat this unfair *****. So if this helps new players or those who gave up, I'm happy. Still should never have released so broken that the visuals literally had my eyes aching.
I wish they would fix his glitchy hotbox
I was hoping to play this dlc before they nerfed the boss to see what it's like. Fortunately I got to play most of Elden Ring main story because bosses not nerfed in that.
Wait, wait, wait, Fromsoft nerfs the final boss of the DLC in multiple ways but they DON'T do a nerf for Malenia's broken Waterfowl dance? What the hell gives?
@nedbvai Can I ask what build youre running? Because I'm doing a strength-faith run, and I'll say that he's definitely been the biggest wall in my experience, and I've beat every other boss.
@Nepp67 It's not broken. If you're patient, and figure it out, you can learn to dodge through/ into the waterfowl dance, without taking any damage. It takes a lot of dying, but if you know that she does it as soon as you take a third of her health off, you can anticipate it and just practice till you get it right.
Elden Ring is one of those games whereby you can make it ten times easier with the correct build. Which is probably where a lot of this game's rep of being difficult comes from. If you muck up from day 1 then you are going to be in for a rough time.
I wish they did this before I spent over 5 hours beating the *****...
I spent a whole week trying and never succeeded. Then Trails came out and so I said I'd give it another try some time down the road. His 1st phase I got down to a science. That 2nd phase though... those AOE attacks after the normal attacks annoyed the **** out of me!🤣
Dang, I'm a scrub. I couldn't do it, and I didn't do the stick and poke solution, and now I am a weinie.
@nedbvai Saying you beat him first time doesn't mean anything without context.
I had to resort to a cheese shield'n'poke build first time round, just to get through it. On NG+ in the base game now so will see if it makes a difference when I get back there, but that won't be for a while.
@GloriosaDaisy cheesed him easy W
@J2theEzzo i was running strength/faith myself and he was a complete brick wall for me, couldn't get through so had to respec, but more power to you if you can manage to get through with that build.
Honestly catering to people that only play the game once and are done will be fromsofts downfall.
@Czar_Khastik i beat him and it felt so rewarding. If they did this at launch maybe I'd be like alright. But by now people should be able to handle this fight just fine. This nerfing nonsense ruined ac6. Game is easy difficulty all the time.
The only boss I could not beat without the help of summons from other players. Hardest and most unfair From boss ever. Malenia was a walk in the park compared to this jerk and his little boy.
@RedRiot193 Really? Jokes aside, I had trouble playing Bloodborne to be completely honest and didn't have the patience to attempt Father Gascoigne multiple times so I let it be.
I'm considering to hop in Elden Ring at some point, so you're saying it's an easier game than Bloodborne? Due to its open world or something else?
I had to switch my build to the greatshield almost everyone used which made me sad but at the same time it was kinda fun playing the game in a completely different way the last hour or so it took to beat this monster
Scarlet aeonia also helps immensely if you can manage to hit him with it
@springer17 Yeah, it mostly has done me well in both the base and dlc... until you hit the endgame! Coincidentally, I was previously tempted to respec, but if it's been patched, I'll give it another go
I don't understand, why deprive some players of the option of choosing if they want the boss to be nerfed or not. I got the game in July and with working and life as an adult, I just beat the Godskin Duo... so the time needed to go through the game is a bit on the low end of the spectrum.
I have to wait for NG+ to give the DLC a proper run until then I am afraid that another patch might affect the game balance...
Good news for me personally, I hope I'll beat this boss finally. I'm on the way now to collect some blessings I missed during my playthrough and then let's wrap it up
Ayy, might not die so much now.
@nedbvai different skill levels most likely, also rng, luck, bleed.
Great! My death count will now be reduced from 100 to just 80 consecutive deaths. Thanks Fromsoftware!
@Czar_Khastik oh yes definitely. Its the most accessible game in the series. If you have trouble with something you can go somewhere else, get stronger, use spirits for agro, and elden has the most busted weapons in the series. So I say go for it. Then go back to bloodborne. It might get easier for you having experience from elden ring. A lil tip for Gascoigne is to parry him. I struggled with him too until I stopped treating bloodborne like demon souls.
I assume the usual suspects will likely mald at hearing this but putting that aside this is a great move. Consort Radahn, like many Elden Ring bosses, was just complete BS. Not being able to see what move the boss is even doing because of some nauseating partical effect lightshow isnt a fun or interesting form of challenge.
Now waiting nearly 3 months after the fact to fix this is far from ideal but at least it didn't take them 2 years to fix the fight like it did with Elden Beast
@RedRiot193 That's really great info. I'll definitely enter Elden Ring first and get the hang for the souls games in general.
Thanks for the Father tip, I tried to parry him but it didn't go really well. It is an issue from my side, but it's hard to play these games before bedtime since I'm already tired and my reflexes are not that good. It also became a joke between me and my friends that I can't play the souls series so I will definitely prove them wrong by gitting gud.
Oh, and I'm currently playing FF7 remake and I'm treating it like Dark Souls by dodging everything instead of guarding (dodge doesn't do anything) so I can understand you
Dang it, I missed out on beating the final boss before the nerf.
