Update: The new patch for Shift Up’s console debut Stellar Blade incorporates some new graphical features, some of which give protagonist Eve’s body physics a boost. The Korean developer outlined the full list of improvements in a post on social media earlier today.
Fans have since been testing out the results:
As detailed below, the patch also improves the way clothing reacts to the wind, and much more. To be honest, it’s surprising to see continued graphical improvements like this in a single player game, but we’re impressed by just how much support Shift Up is committing to the title.
Original Article: Korean developer Shift Up has released a surprise update for Stellar Blade, which brings some pretty meaningful improvements and features to the PS5 favourite. It’s important to underline, this does not include the Photo Mode functionality and NieR Automata content announced at State of Play earlier in the week – all of that content is due later in the year.
The big new addition in this 2.4GB update is the implementation of wind physics to more outfits. As you can see in the side-by-side comparisons below, Eve’s clothing will now react naturally to the weather, meaning gusts can lift the heroine’s skirt in certain situations. Previously, only select outfits operated in this way.
The update also brings some welcome quality of life improvements. You can now favourite outfits and accessories making them easier to switch between, and you can also top up your ammo much quicker at base camps.
Elsewhere, the slamming song from the summer vacation update has been added to the music player library, and you can also toggle the event in the Great Desert Oasis on and off, meaning it’s now a permanent addition; previously, it was announced as a time-limited update.
It’s great to see this kind of ongoing support for the game, and we’re really looking forward to the aforementioned expansion later in the year. Will you be crushing a few Naytibas to celebrate the arrival of this update? Dress to impress in the comments section below.

I don't care about anymore, they finally released the OST! I highly recommend everyone to give it a listen. It's easily the best sound track this year (followed closely by Rebirth). Also putting cheeks to one side, this game is amazing (personal 9/10) if people are still on the fench about, now's the time to dive in!
@Oram77 Stunning soundtrack. I was lucky enough to get the vinyl.
While I have really enjoyed clearing my ps3 backlog this year (much more than I thought I would too)… man I can’t wait to get to some of these games that released this year, Stellar Blade being right up there.
@get2sammyb wait, there's a Vinyle (I'll be right back)
All we need now is an auto pilot mode
@get2sammyb can't beat a bit of vinyl 😁
@Oram77 It was limited to Korea, but I was lucky enough to be gifted it at the launch event in Taiwan.
Yes brilliant soundtrack for a brilliant game.
Korean and Chinese devs are showing the west how post release support should be done!
Is this getting ps5 pro support anyone know?
The hair physics seems a lot better too. Yes, I was looking somewhere higher than the skirt. I like long hair that float in the wind and don't clip through the body.
@Dodoo Yes, I believe they are adding several new modes on the Pro
@Dodoo Yes, it was announced at the State of Play this week.
Well, this is sure to create some 'fun' discussions on Twitter/X. Shouldn't be a big deal but some people will act like this is the end of the world.
I really think having EVE as main character did the game a huge disservice.
Its genuenly good game with surprisingly deep combat system, yet everything everyone ever manages to talk about is how revealing her outfits are.
@species but men like looking at women's bums though 😂
Now I can finally enjoy the story as it was originally envisioned
@Shalooda My wife's bum, not this. This sort of stuff is creepy.
Cant beat a nice "cheeky" little update.
@species It helped to weed out the moral outrage folks from playing, so I’d call that a good thing.
@species I've said it before and I'll say it again: if Concord featured the cast of Stellar Blade then it would still be going right now.
Sex sells. Always has, and probably, always will.
Yeah these people love there job alot 😆😆😆😆😆😆
Y’all really played a game for some arse shots lol I still haven’t played this game and don’t plan on it.
@Czar_Khastik I always look for your comments, you make my day.
Stuff like this coming back. Ubisoft going down.
The world is healing
For immersion of course.
Really need to pick this up at some point
State of Play.
@thefourfoldroot1 its an amazing game. You really should do.
@Max_the_German Thanks mate! Asses and jokes, what more is needed
It will be really cool of nier automata 2 is using this engine optimized for ps5 and pro 😃
As someone who was puzzled by the selectivity of the game’s gust of wind, this is welcome XD
Hopefully the Nier collab gives us more reasons to revisit.
Can't wait to play this game on PC whenever it comes out
Guess I'm jumping back in again, again
@thefourfoldroot1 The game is fun and it's definitely worth it. All the details and the cute outfits are the icing on the cake.
If this game had anything less than Eve as the main character it would not even have made the top 10 games of the year. I don't mind a bit of fan service myself, I am a human after all, but you will never convince me it would have sold as well with Aloy or Kay Vess as the lead.
If it were not for Eve and her outfits the game would have had the trifecta of modern video game deaths: "poor character design", "terrible writing", and so-called "wokeness".
Hmm, I'm glad I held off so far. Game's getting better the later I play it xD
This goes for a lot of other games too of course, but I don't typically like action heavy games, so I don't wanna play this more than once. Waiting until they are done with everything.

@get2sammyb Do you have a good hifi system? I am rocking some Acoustic Energy AE500s
@MrPeanutbutterz 😂 I suppose you could look at it like that , I see it more as harmless fun or an appreciation of the female form, like benny hill or the carry on films 😁
That 'gust' makes it look like she had baked beans for dinner
Great update
Such an essential update
@dskatter EXACTLY! Just look how the moral/woke mob review bombed the game because of her outfits! It's crazy!
Funny haha jokes aside, I'm actually glad they patched this. It's kinda funny to see Eve's hair react to the wind but her clothing stayed motionless.
Game is great and I can't wait to see what the Nier crossover DLC brings to the table.
@EVIL-C Twenty years ago, that might have been the case.
Looking at the people who are all anti-Stellar Blade? Not so much anymore.
Cool update, probably my game of the year here.
@Max_the_German @Czar_Khastik
Me too, mate, me too! I've been a fan of yours, Czar.
@species and your problem is?
@LifeGirl oldest profession in the world. Cleopatra built and destroyed empire’s around it.
@lindos Well since youre asking, i personally find it distasteful. To each of its own ofc.
But my comment was more of an observation than a complaint.
Removed - unconstructive
@HarmanSmith I appreciate it and it's always nice to get together on a sophisticated topic like this
Huh. This is actually pretty interesting…Surprised Sony actually let it slide. But I think it looks pretty cool and interesting to see how game physics have evolved. I’d actually play this if I could.
Are we saying the standard PS5 is so weak that it couldn't handle a simple giggle patch.
I mean Dead or Alive has been doing it since the PS1 days.
Let's just say Sony has asked developers to just add anything and call it "a Pro enhancement"
@get2sammyb @mcdreamer thanks both 🙏
Did this game ever / does this game run at 60fps on ps5?
@species i agree they should have had tachy as the main character 🤤
@Major_Player This is just a patch, not a Pro Enhancement.
A much welcome patch, IMO.
This is the update we’ve all been waiting for. Forgot the PS5 Boost, I’d rather the booty boost any day of the week.

@danzoEX
A lot of people did, the game was a runaway success. It's kind of funny seeing a crowd of people enjoying something and then one guy in the fringes shouting "perverts!" as if anyone can hear him.
@danzoEX Inaccurate. We played the game because it has a great combat system, fantastic boss design and a killer soundtrack. The arse shots are just an added bonus.
And you do not need to play the game since it's already a huge financial hit for the developer with or without your purchase.
Yeah, those are definitely physics. Both of them.

@Dodoo
The West still knows how to make good looking characters.
They still do it for all the male ones. They're all ripped and buff and good looking.
Didn’t Dead or Alive do this like 20 years ago?
Jokes aside but I actually like the ahem realism here.
@Hyena_socks They did yes but this looks far more realistic. Dead or Alive looked like bouncy rubber balls 😃😂
Nice "news" and "update"
@GreatAuk yeah they're adept at making a perfect representation of Sam Witwer in Days gone, callisto and even the force unleashed games but give western devs a female face model and it's like pinhead did the dbd mori on them, perfect example is the mass effect andromeda default Ryder's, the dude is handsome like the face model but female ryder looks nothing like her face model.

They just want you to get distracted during a boss at this point. Guess it's time to go back and finish getting that plat....
I'm happy for the one-handed gaming crowd, and more continuing support for games is always great to see, but I'll be waiting for more gameplay content to hop back into Stellar Blade. Because no matter what problems I may have with parts of this game, the combat is some of the best on the market!
@Corc11 yes. There are 3 graphical settings: resolution, performance and balanced - performance mode and balanced both run at 60fps. I would recommend the balanced mode, especially if you can run it with VRR (not required), it's quite beautiful.

@Arnna how so?
I'm sincerely curious, how is this for
" creeps" ?
Jeez people are so narrow minded nowadays...
I thought the great social acceptance movement was supposed to broaden our viewpoints and understandings..........I don't think it's working
@McBurn This game was bug free at launch and fully complete though. They are only adding more stuff because it sold beyond what they expected.
@RedRiot193 I think Veilguard doesn't look good. But i'm not a DA fans nor i understand what the majority of DA community wants. So the game could sell well despite all the drama with the character customization.
@Arnna Adding more details with wind physics that interacts with clothes and more dynamic body physics are for creeps now?
I love these guys.
@Arnna
No, it’s an update for men and women who like T&A, which is perfectly human. Maybe try not being so judgmental.
@Arnna sex sells deal with it.
@PuppetMaster It doesn't look good. All you have to do is watch the first major battle of DA origins introduction to see the difference. Also it seems push square is too soft and are bothered by facts. Removed both our comments.

@Zenos Hi Fi is a bigger weakness for me than gaming.. and thats saying something. I played in bands for a few years and worked in London recording studios before I cut my hair off and worked for IBM.
I wont bore you with its constitute pieces (unless your interested), but my current system is getting end game for me as Ive hit 60 now. Its about £25k of kit now.
AE500s are great little speakers, nice!
@Arnna I genuinely understand where you are coming from.
I am keen on playing this, but the over sexulisation of Eve has stopped me doing so. Im 60 now and feel little uncomfortable 'upskirting' even it is virtually.
I hear its a game well worth playing in its own right though and I believe once you are a bit further in to the game, you can choose more modest outfits which would make me feel less of a creep!
@Titntin You're "uncomfortable" looking at a fictional woman's boobs 'n' butt? Your male ancestors are looking down on you with puzzlement and disgust.

@Thumper
Yes mate, thats an offence irl for a reason, lol.
When an update is praised for making more panty lines revealed and making t*ts bounce more realistically you know your dealing with the hairy hands mob. Nothing here that affects gameplay at all, and its game play I care about.
Im sure my male ancestors look upon my attitude with pride. Theres a time and place for everything and Im far from being prudish in the slightest. I dont believe this level of titilation in an action fighter is the best match, and I understand why a female gamer would take umbridge with a bunch of males being trained to enjoy upskirting. Sexy potagonists, no issue. Updates to encourage upskirting and jiggle pysics only, are pretty creepy in a game thats got a lot more to offer than looking up the protagonists tush.
Im not spoiling anyones party, you play the game till your blind, ive no problem. But I do understand the feelings of a female who finds it creepy, and wanted to let her know thats a perfectly reasonable assesment. Or are we not allowed divergent viewpoints? Are we all supposed to be little robots parrotting the same viewpoint for fear we might not fit in?
@Thumper Don't bother mate.
@MikeOrator It would have sold even more wirh Aloy as the lead. You're tripping.
@Titntin Just gonna throw out there that there are a bunch of outfits in the game that arent revealing or sexual at all.
@BIG3 Yes mate, I mentioned that in one of my posts as I intend to play this game and Im glad it offers me that option. Thanks forpointing it out, appreciated 👍
@colonelkilgore Hi, could you please list the games in your PS3 backlog that you've cleared? I enjoy going back to my PS3 from time to time, and this year I've started and completed Folklore, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, and more recently Lollipop Chainsaw. I'm always open to recommendations for this underrated console!
@Foxhound yeah no problem buddy… and I’ve heard a lot of good things about El Shaddai… , what did you think of it?
So, I started playing ps3 games again a couple of years back as I had started a new profile on ps4 and got into trophy hunting… and started looking into the platinums for the ps3 games I used to like. So I started with:
inFamous 1 & 2
God of War 1, 2, Chains of Olympus & Ghost of Sparta
Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, 4 & Peace Walker
Captain America: Super Soldier
Lego: Lord of the Rings
Dante’s Inferno
Game of Thrones
Then this year I focussed on ps3 more and have cleared:
Back to the Future
X-men Origins: Wolverine
Spec Ops: The Line
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Asura’s Wrath
Red Faction: Armageddon
Fallout: New Vegas
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
Remember Me
The Saboteur
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
GTA IV
Prince of Persia
Dead Space
Alpha Protocol
Rage
Final Fantasy XIII
then the ones I have left but intend on playing by 2025 are:
Alice: Madness Returns
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
Brutal Legend
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Dead Space 2 & 3
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
(& I do then have a few more that I won’t get done this year but will play over the next few years 😅)

I don't even have this game and I don't think I ever will. It doesn't seem like it's something I'll really enjoy.
But I respect the right for it to exist unlike the book burners out there.
On a related note, I think Lara Croft in the new trilogy was gorgeous. I would absolutely prefer to look at her pretty face in the game than to look at Eve.
But now they're even taking away those pretty faces which are completely realistic btw and not some cartoonish barbie.
Why?
GOTY, and it’s not even close
@colonelkilgore Many thanks for that list, much appreciated! A few of those you've mentioned are actually in my backlog, seeing them made me motivated to start them soon (Alice Madness Returns especially).
I found El Shaddai to be pretty good. Do keep in mind it was released in 2011, and there's a Remastered version that came out a few months back on Switch which is surely superior. The PS3 version still gave me a good experience though.
@Titntin
“ Im not spoiling anyones party, you play the game till your blind, ”
Unfortunately people do seek to spoil things with your same arguments. If you/they are loud enough we get a Dead Rising situation, Resi 4 situation, etc, etc. or, worse, Dead or Alive.
I am perfectly happy for you to just say it makes you uncomfortable to have (fictional) women in games be dressed and animated for titillation, you do you, but we have seen how the minority often scream down the majority. And when games are largely sold digitally, and can be altered or even delisted, it’s something to guard against.
This immature and unnatural obsession with the sexual anatomy of the female body isn’t “harmless fun” .. there’s a psychopath on trial in France whose crimes were discovered only because a security guard caught him filming up ladies’ skirts, let that sink in. Grow up and respect the gender that birthed you and sustained you.
@thefourfoldroot1 Except thats not what Im doing. I told someone I presume was a girl gamer, that I could understand how she felt and i was sympathetic to her viewpoint. Neither her original post or my subsequent one sought to tell anyone what do or sought to deny anyone this game.
I understand everyone is looking for a 'hill to die on' these days, but please leave me out of your cause, unless you feel anyone with a divergent viewpoint is a target? I thought on an adult site where people can talk civily and without malice there might be a slight tolerance for a range of views. My unease at peoples joy to indulge in virtual upskirting, is exactly that, unease. It doesnt justify you trying to throw me into some kind of sweet baby censorship camp. I like to think I have a balanced view of such issues and I despair at the highly polarised society we have become that thinks there are only two polar opposite viewpoints and we must 'pick sides'. I want no part in such nonsence.
@Titntin
And I didn’t say that was what you were intending to do. I was quite careful not to lump you in that camp, so no need to be defensive about that. I merely said others use your same arguments to alter things in such a way that it spoils other people’s fun, people who do not have the same “moral” blockages when such things pertain to fictional content that is consumed on a completely voluntary basis. I merely said your position was something to guard against, unfortunately, due to the already demonstrated impact on many games. Guarded against, not attacked or vilified.
I too thought that, on an adult site where people can talk civilly, and without malice, there might be a slight tolerance for a range of views.
Also, I wasn’t commenting on the comment you suggest (the one where you presume the poster was a woman). I just mention that in case you thought you were talking to the guy who did reply to it. These things can get confusing with multiple participants.
“ I despair at the highly polarised society we have become”
Amen, brother.
@Titntin yea she has a track suit like thing that is much more modest you can unlock pretty early on I switched to and stuck with. Combat is great. To be fair she almost has an alien quality to her rather than human. Like a species Captain Kirk comes across and sleeps with or something 🤣
@TheShallowWorld "This immature and unnatural obsession with the sexual anatomy of the female body isn’t “harmless fun” .. there’s a psychopath on trial in France whose crimes were discovered ..."
Tbf, the discourse is still about some videogame. Unless you are categorizing people who play violent games (GTA, Mortal Kombat, ...) under the same heading?
Most people know the difference between videogames and real life. The ones that don't, well, those people have trouble watching the every day news too.
If playing a videogame, and it's changing your moral compass, you have a problem, and you should seek another hobby imho!
At the end of the day, there are more limits in videogames than in TV shows or movies.
The game is good overall, so it's "some part" of the game and not the only reason why people play it.
@TheShallowWorld Are you saying people who enjoyed Stellar Blade will end up as a skirt chasing psychopath who can't separate fiction with reality? If yes then it's you who needs to grow the fvck up.
That's like saying people who enjoyed GTA, Doom, or Mortal Kombat are obsessed with violances and automaticly will end up as a murderer or killer.
Don't blame mental illness on video games.
@thefourfoldroot1 Thank you for acknowledging that. I can have conerns without immediately flopping into the censorship camp and Im grateful you recognise that.
Yes, its difficult sometimes following these threads and Ive both inferred the wrong thing, and gotten the wrong message about threads Ive not quite understood, several times.
Thanks for your post and I hope you have a lovely Sunday! 😊
The outraged moral mob... That Sounds like far-right Christian social media, maga and scam pastors like Jim Bakker and Lance Wallnau to a tee...
