LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 were PS3 games which were bundled together and remastered for PS4 in the form of the LEGO Harry Potter Collection. Now that version will get a third re-release on PS5, starting from 8th October. The package will be available digitally from the PS Store, and will include all previous DLC. There’s no word on a physical version.
The game, which is being ported by Double Eleven, will run at 60fps in native 4K, and it’ll feature various bells-and-whistles like DualSense haptic feedback and higher-resolution shadow maps. If you already own the PS4 version of LEGO Harry Potter Collection then there won’t be a free upgrade, but you will be eligible for a discount.
We scored the PS4 version of this bundle a 7/10 when we reviewed it back in 2016: “The LEGO Harry Potter Collection is just as good, if not better, than it was back on the PlayStation 3. Having both games bundled in a collection makes it feel like you're playing one lengthy game rather than two relatively short ones. There are still a few niggling mechanical issues present and the boss battles are disappointing, however fans of both Harry Potter and the LEGO games will find something to enjoy here.”
It’s a busy time for Wizarding World releases, as next week will also see the arrival of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. And if you already own Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll unlock a bonus character in the magical sports game for free.

Sort of crappy that we’re at a point where games are getting rereleased one generation after release at full price, even average games. Watch the PS4 version get delisted as well.
Wow why does this game feel like GTA5 now? Tbh the way Lego games go I can wait a year or so for it to be on ps plus. Depends how much of a discount I would get. Tbh I would happily pay for an upgraded Lego city undercover - it has eye wateringly long load times that it puts me off playing it so much. Ps5 load times would suit that game so very much.
It’s only a fiver on the store so buy it now and then do the upgrade!!
Yay. Same game again and again, thank youuuu.
not that this game necessarily needs it, but not even having 120fps for a game that came out on ps3 and wii is disappointing. so much for those next gen features we were promised.
Just put in on PS+ and be done with it.
To all the stinkers here in the comments: You are not the target group for this re-release. There are many new 8-year-olds every year who haven’t played this game in the past and ask their parents and grandparents for a PS5 game for Christmas. This game is perfect for this!
"If you already own the PS4 version of LEGO Harry Potter Collection then there won’t be a free upgrade, but you will be eligible for a discount."
If the discount is anything short of 90% off, I am not interested.
Grizzled gamers: “Rawr, no improvements to this game I already played or have no interest in!”
Young HP fans who have never played it before but now will: “Yay, Harry Potter game!”
Guess which group this is aimed at? Spoiler alert: not the complaining ones.
Great games, perfect excuse to play again for another platinum 😃
They’re great games but yep, more money headed to a nutjob so no thanks.
I got these games along with a whole slew of other Lego games from a bundle a few weeks ago, and I never played a Lego game before. I have the first Lego Harry Potter installed on my Steam Deck, just need to get around to giving it a shot.
Ugh again. Yes they were great but could we not have had something else remastered instead? I’d love a Lego Indiana Jones Collection for instance but not HP again and again.
Also, cue the PS5 version only having one platinum trophy in 3,2,1… 🫢
So the rumours of HP getting a Skywalker Saga remake are false? 💔💔💔
@VeldinX Indiana Jones 2 is terrible but the first does deserve a remaster. I played the whole series through PS Plus streaming for the platinums and it’s only Lord of the Rings missing so I’d love a remaster of that, it would seriously benefit from a frame rate increase and especially draw distance as the world is pretty beautiful for a Lego game.
@Max_the_German They could play the PS4 version on the PS5.
Only a discount for PS4 users? No worries this will come to plus extra & premium soon enough 🙄🙄
It would be nice if we got remasters of those other older Lego games from the PS3 era. Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, Star Wars TCS/Clone Wars, Batman Trilogy, Indy, etc.
@Thumper A physical is not yet announced, but I find it very likely, as a typical Chrismas gift game. And these copies will prominently sit in a shelf in the stores where grandma will get her gifts.
Imagine not separating yourself from the clear target audience and getting mad about this re-release.
Ridiculous.
@Max_the_German 👍
@DonJorginho It could still happen, I suppose.
Ahh 9th Gen consoles. Where you rebuy games if you want a settings and resolution bump on the hardware you paid for
And I’m sure they still won’t have fixed the bug that can prevent you from getting the platinum trophy in the first game.
@DonJorginho when I saw the article that's what I thought this was. Oh well...
@nessisonett Ah fair enough. I’ve not played the Indy ones but would be interested if re-released. There are plenty other Lego games though that are stuck on PS3 too which could benefit a remaster, especially over HP that is already playable on all the platforms this new version is releasing.
I'm still waiting for a rerelease of LEGO The Lord of the Rings...
Another nail in the coffin. This generation of consoles is the least exciting, most expensive ***** show I've ever been unfortunate enough to have bought into.
It really needs a PS5 Pro or something.
This generation has ***** gamers from day ***** dot. Massive cash input, ***** all return.
Really is becoming a baaaaad generation.
Remakes, remasters, repackaged games, with a handful of new ones that mainly release a mess.
I'd love a Lego City Undercover sequel, not being tied to a licence made it the best one for me
I would prefer a new Lego Harry Potter game that adds Fantastic Beasts movies on top of the OG 8. Would also help to expand the castle, rework the combat system, and keep the whole content in 1 instance, rather than having to choose between 1-4 then 5-7.
@VicerExciser I'd also love to see LEGO LOTR being re-released, it's not even available for streaming thru PS+ Premium.
This is what the gaming community wants. The same thing re-released over and over again.
I know we say seperate the art from the artist but with this series its gotten harder for me to do.
I may play it again IF it comes to the PS+ premium library, I like the Lego games BUT won't pay for it again
Third time’s the charm?
Wouldn't mind if Lego Marvel's Superheroes gets ported to PS5, would love to play it (and get the platinum) again.
@Max_the_German what about Batman 1 that is 15 years old with no trophies?
@hoffa007 ???
Lego LOTR and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean remasters please
@Dragoon1994 yes, I'm signing this petition. Throw Indiana Jones in there, too.
@Max_the_German was just referring to your first comment.
I can't believe they're doing this game for a third time instead of the many other LEGO games not available on these generation of consoles such as Pirates of the Caribbean and the LEGO Indiana Jones series.
I played the snot out of these games on all consoles and PC, 100%, Platinum, etc. Unless it includes voices I won't be getting it for a 4th time.
All the Lego games are great, but do they need a remake after remake?! Do they? Is it good marketing to re-release the same game? As far as I can tell, the HP game is running at 60 fps already, and I have a physical copy from one (or two) year(s) ago...why even bother?
@Cypher1942 great...I wish I had the patience to get the platinum....buy you're right, how many times the same game. I played it when I was a kid on PS3, than for the sake of it (it looked better on PS4 pro) we played it (free on PS subscription) on the 4, and we bought it for the 5, a year ago..
