Old-school JRPG fans are in for a treat early next year, as the Lunar games are making a long, long, long awaited return. Both Lunar: Silver Star Story and its sequel, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, are being brought back as Lunar Remastered Collection in spring 2025. It's coming to PS5 and PS4.
The originals released all the way back in the 90s, and were ported to the PS1 a little later in the decade. The PlayStation versions in particular were met with much positivity, and are now remembered as often overlooked classics of the genre.
This collection comes with "widescreen support, enhanced pixel art, HD animated cutscenes, and all-new English voice acting". Very nice.
Dare we ask if you remember the Lunar games? Embark on a dusty old adventure in the comments section below.

I love these games. I still have my complete PS1 copies. I still even wear Lucia's pendant sometimes.
These have been so neglected over the years.
FINALLY
So many JRPGs to play...
We’re so eating so good tonight
I wonder why the PSP version wasn't used instead of the PS1 version.
I feel like the artwork would have scaled better.
Oh well, I am still very much looking forward to this!
One of my favorite series! Still play them on Vita from time to time. Definitely looking forward to this!
@GamingFan4Lyf Silver Star Harmony messed with the story pacing, changed the songs, and ruined the dungeons. Glad they opted for the PS1 version of the first game.
@Ralizah Ah. I didn't realize. Okay, well then I am glad they used the PS1 version, too!
The PS1 games are like $100-200 a piece, this collection is a godsend
I had the emulated versions all ready to play but I'm definitely buying this instead and playing it this way. I've been meaning to for the longest time
Awesome! Had no idea. Never had them in my PS1 days and they are too $$$ now for the real thing. I hope they are good ports and available physically.
Amen for this collection although i hope they have a physical release.
Happy to see Lunar back I just wish they'd make some more games in the series.
I’ll never forget the day I loaded the Sega CD version up and how it just blew my mind!! Had to buy them both again on PS One I loved them so much! Still own them today! This is Fantastic news!! Physical please!! 🙏🙏
I’m gonna hold out to see if it goes to Switch. Otherwise I will defo get two years from release.
I will never forget the first time I played Lunar SSS on my imported Sega CD.
Great game, loved the music and the graphics, will definitely buy the collection down the road.
As a kid I loved NES and SNES RPGs. When I saw Lunar Silver Star Story in the gaming magazines of the day, I wanted it so much, but I couldn’t afford a Sega Genesis and Sega CD. At the time I loved the art style, but anime wasn’t really common yet and I didn’t know that’s what the style was called, but it reminded me of a cartoon called Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, which was a pretty fun anime of the early 90s.
@Ryu_Niiyama it will be on the switch confirmed..
OMG I'm literally replaying the psp remaster on my vita that I just found last week lol so pumped for the 2nd one also gives me Jr high nostalgia lol
Lunar is awesome, but man what I wouldn't give to get some of those other lesser known games from that time.
Vay, Popful Mail, Magic Knight Rayearth, Vanguard Bandits. I would die.
@ShonenJump121 God, with Magic Knight Rayearth getting a new anime adaptation, it would be the coolest thing to see a revival of the game along with it.
Never played these ones, but the remasters look fairly well done, so I’m interested at least
I’ve played the emulated Sega CD versions. If this gets a Switch release I’m all over it.
Still have both lunar games for PlayStation in the deluxe working designs packaging.
Fantastic games. Day 1 buy.
@Ralizah Many of those games have never been re-released physically so it would be something else. Rayearth being one of them, more people need to experience that game.
I've played the GBA and PSP reimaginings of the first game, but never the original version or its sequel. Nor the DS travesty, of course.
@ShonenJump121 Do you mean MKR game on Saturn developed by Working Design? I only played the Game Gear version.
