While there was a huge emphasis on how PS5 Pro will improve traditional gaming experiences, Mark Cerny never once mentioned PSVR2 during his presentation today. That’s perhaps to be expected from a platform holder that feels like it’s largely washed its hands of the product, with no first-party projects currently announced.
However, in a separate exclusive article with CNET, the executive admitted that PSVR2 owners can look forward to improvements on PS5 Pro. According to architect Mark Cerny, the supercharged system’s upgraded GPU will enable higher resolution virtual reality experiences, while a version of the organisation’s AI-driven PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution will be rolled out in the future, further improving image quality.
It sounds like existing software will need to be patched to take advantage of the improvements, and no PSVR2 titles with compatibility have been announced just yet. We’ll obviously be monitoring the situation and checking with developers, and we’ll let you know once we get word of which PSVR2 games will support PS5 Pro and how.

*PS5 Pro PS VR2 Enhancement sold separately
I'm sure Sony have a AAA VR first party title ready to launch with PS5 pro to really showcase this too....
At that point, just get a damn PC VR setup.
Most games are quest ports. Some are improved a little, but hardly requiring more than PS5 power.
Good to know of enhancements by however much is great. At least PCVR support as well for the future if not PS6 software support for it with USB C/Type A/another adaptor if they wanted to be difficult.
But it's always annoying journalists have to push the question because the console maker goes eh we have moved on from that product. Or it wasn't worth mentioning for our presentation. Like why not?
It's part of the generation and has relevance for an audience still interested, don't ignore them Sony, no matter how niche or no matter what sales outcomes, don't ignore audiences you offer products for.
They seem to ignore possibilities unless asked about it, if they want to really show it off they do, no matter length of time in a presentation, if they don't they say very little as possible and it's so annoying and disgusting business behaviour on their part.
It's very throw away and it's very disrespectful.
Once PS6 sure and if Sony offer an adaptor (I know USB C for PSVR2 then the PSVR1's needing an adaptor like Kinect for OG Xbox 360 then Slim/E having it fine, but it's Sony they could change their mind any time they want to) like PSVR1 did but if not then fine. Treat the audience that way, but it reflects on them.
The engineers may/may not care and move on or lessen their experimenting but the marketing or any leadership, Cerny as architect or any others ignoring an audience or don't bring it to the forefront in a presentation unless asked by journalists or players is just disrespectful to the audience of their other products.
(even though game devs go we don't know what to do with it or the small percentage that do want the power or those that go we don't have any ideas for the PSVR2 or controller gimmicks and act stupid of oh realism/ oh we don't think outside the box enough excuses.
We know it's sales & marketing or games not just ports or whatever IPs big enough or the game design & pushing the controllers gyro wrong and it's hilarious when on the Wii this was obvious, Red Steel 1-2 or other games, PS Move as well. I know because I go between them. Do they think we are stupid in how they make games 'feel' to play and what we are comfortable with?
Why is this so hard for Devs to comprehend oh realism, oh gaming has more flexibility to be whatever and not only real world logic. With such stupid ideas & not enough broader thinking about possibilities & their own little worlds/laziness to prototype better).
Maybe it's my mindset of wanting to know as a customer (or asking creator questions) or with YouTube videos/other messaging positions like Journalists, you know your audience has questions about how things work, or are a technical minded person and wonder what does or doesn't work so experiment & try to cover the info as best as possible whether a mod or product or otherwise what comes in a box or anything. But come on.
Sony & disappointment in products successes or not is the most annoying thing.
Saying nothing has it's downsides & disrespect as well. By PS6 sure, but people will ask if it software side supports PS6 with a USB C/Type A port as well.
All I need is a patch for GT7 VR... More resolution/details, native 120hz...
@thefourfoldroot1 GT7 does
Thats good news for the PSVR2 owners
There's at least that. Though you can still get pcvr going even if you already have the psvr2. Had they not blundered vr2 so badly that I already decided on meta and PC maybe this would have tipped my interest.
@TrickyDicky99 Seriously. Walkabout mini golf is one of the best VR games on any platform but the psvr2 version is somehow lower res than the quest 3 version which is actually just the quest 2 version.
You'd expect an improvement but how much? I'm hoping we'll get GT7 at 90fps native with a resolution and draw distance bump. Not enough to persuade me to pay 700 quid on release but it might at least be tempting at 600 next year.
Kind of sad how PSVR2 has just been Vitaed by Sony.
VR2 is dead 💀. I wish I had never got one.
PS5 Pro = $700
PSVR2 = $500
PS5 Disc Drive = $80
PS5 Stand = $30
Horizon Call of the Mountain = $60
Final Total = $1,370 + tax
Oh boy! What a very affordable and accessible way to get into VR gaming! I can't wait to see slightly sharper grass in my full-price tech demo of a game. 🙄
@B_Lindz Oh they probably won't update cotm to use the PS5 pro. They fired the devs, don't you remember? 😢
@TrickyDicky99 Real resolution is close though not to matter, it's mostly about aspect ratio difference, but yeah the pentile thing makes the effective resolution terrible.
Still, while walkabout isn't exactly sharp on q3 (the quest optimizer kit can fix that but I haven't bothered) but it's super blurry on psvr like it's the q2 version.
@ShonenJump121 psvr2 is at least a lower cost vita than 5 pro will be when they vita it in 2 years for ps6
@LogicStrikesAgain I'm sure both of them will be thrilled.
@XenonKnight vr is growing constantly. Just not on console...
@dreadpirateflappy Original
Another big waste of money I spent on VR2!! F**K PS5 pro. Its games that are required on the headset. It's pretty obvious they don't give a ***** about there own product anyway. Do they seriously think I'm going to spend £699 on another PS5 lol 😆
@LogicStrikesAgain all 5 of them
@NEStalgia ps5pro is great news for my dream of MS releasing XB7 one year earlier than the next PS, and based on nvidia tech (gpu) and AMD cpu. Sony is not going to be coming out with ps6 earlier than xmas 2027.
@TheDudeElDuderino Yeah, hard to say if those Nvidia rumors were true it not, but yeah, the pro opened a ginormous door for Xbox to take the next Gen launch lead like the 360 era. A door that was firmly closed 2 days ago.
@Rob_230 @Rob_230 don't count on it
How can you improve something that doesn't exist?
