Sony’s presence at Tokyo Game Show is important because the platform holder’s generally been skipping conventions. It did appear at ChinaJoy in Shanghai earlier in the year, and now it’s at the Makuhari Messe, showing off games like Astro Bot, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

The booth is absolutely gigantic, and has all kinds of little flourishes: the 30th Anniversary hardware collection is on display, there are PS5 Pro demos for Gran Turismo 7, and you can even play a real-life Astro Bot gacha machine. All in all, it’s really great to see PlayStation starting to reappear at conventions around the world, and we hope this continues.

Let’s hope it drums up some hype as it seems japan is lost to Nintendo
@Mikey856 Unless they start putting out more Japanese games and maybe offer a handheld of some kind that probably won't change
Ginormous Booth is my wrestling name.
It's that big to house all the unsold PS5s.
I always wish I was in Japan 💖
But the booth is very impressive. Watching the video gave me old E3 in the late 90s/early 00s vibes.
It looks so cool! Wish I could go.
Lived in Japan since 2001. Have never been to Tokyo Game Show. That was more defensible back when it was aimed solely at the press. But pretty stupid that I've never made it haha.
Eh, no.
Not interested with TGS.
Even i like Japan but the first place i want to visit is the arcade which have DDR machines.
I have no idea if TGS is big in Japan. But it HAS to increase their exposure - fans, gamers, journalists, influencers and the like might get excited by Playstation's return to TGS or (re)discover the brand.
I am saying that the next count of sold hardware might be directly affected by this event or the coverage of it, or any derivative of such a spectacle of a show.
But this is someone from the outside looking in.
I think you guys need some context.
I was at the Tokyo game show and in fact the Sony space was a miss.
Let me explain:
Half of the pace was for Monster Hunter
The other Half was was PS5 game , some already out.
Only 4 PS5 pro where playing....
The giant Astro machine was only for few select VIP.
In the other hand, sega was stronger than ever.
Konami is back from the dead.
And Capcom is monster hunter for the next 6 month.
Square Enix got juice thanks to DQ and so.
In the middle of this, Sony did not propose anything, except and overpriced PS5 pro, a PS5 that increase priced and so on.
So y lost touch with his Japan roots. That is the Japan we loved.
Sony is dead, long live Sony.
Maybe if Konami can be back, Sony can, but it will take few years if they take some good decision from now... I doubt it .
Anyway, that is the gist behind the giant Sony space
@Yasukejp
If I'm not mistaken, the Japanese don't consider the PlayStation their console
Mine is alphaville (big in Japan)
But not really
They should play that song in the background
@EfYI TGS is irrelevant, Nintendo hasnt been there for years.
@DungeonMaster
Well, sony did everything for that
Japan Studio
Headquater
the insane prie hike and the 120 000 yen price of the pro
They got what their deserved, nintendo is having a field day.
Japan is not a lost cause, it is just sony dont want to invest in it, no more pride anymore, just cold number.
