Sniper Elite team Rebellion has shared the first in-depth glimpse at the gameplay, setting, and world of its next PS5, PS4 title: Atomfall. Scheduled to release for both of Sony's consoles in March 2025, it presents a post-apocalyptic version of northern England in the year 1962, following the real-life events of the Windscale disaster. A nuclear fire burned for three days in Cumbria, and Atomfall depicts an alternate take on the events five years later. Check out the video above.

The narrator describes the experience as a "single player first-person action survival game" that takes place in a fictional quarantine zone after the nuclear fire. There's more to the incident in Rebellion's alternate take, though, and it'll be up to you to discover the secrets and actual events behind the disaster. A military group is already there to restore order while help arrives, but the latter never materialised. With conspiracy theories spreading about what's really going on, you need to work out what's really going on.

Gameplay reveals human, robotic, and supernatural enemies, as well as cult figures that have arisen in the years since the fire. The HUD depicts how you'll follow Leads in order to discover clues and revelations about the incident, while gunplay appears to come at a premium, with only a few bullets available. All your weapons and equipment must be procured on-site, and a crafting system lets you fashion new items and ammo.
