In Europe, 78% of Silent Hill 2 Copies Were Purchased on PS5 1

Sony went to a lot of trouble promoting console exclusive Silent Hill 2 on PS5, and it looks like it’s paid off: according to GSD data, as shared on the GI.biz Microcast, a whopping 78% of the game’s European sales were purchased on the PlayStation platform. The remaining 22% were purchased on PC.

This data incorporates both physical and digital sales, although it doesn’t cover the entire continent; UK sales are excluded, for example. Still, it’s a good indication of how the game’s trending.

There’s generally been a recurring sentiment this year that games only releasing on PS5 have been underperforming due to the lack of a PC option; Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a great example of this recently. However, while the 22% here is not to be sniffed at, it’s clear the bulk of Silent Hill 2’s market is on console. This could be due to high PC specification requirements, or historical platform associations.

Regardless, the game is off to a great start overall, comfortably outselling both The Callisto Protocol and Alan Wake 2’s launches in Europe – although it’s a little bit behind the Dead Space remake. If you’re playing the game, don’t forget you can refer to our Silent Hill 2 guide.

Elsewhere, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is up an eye-watering 140% on Dragon Ball FighterZ, while dark horse boxing sim Undisputed has secured the fourth biggest sports game launch in Europe thus far this year, which is a remarkable achievement for developer Steel City Interactive.
