Konami has this morning announced its excellent PS5, PC remake of Silent Hill 2, produced in conjunction with Bloober Team, has sold more than one million copies since its release on 8th October 2024. The total combines shipped copies and digital downloads, making it the fastest-selling entry in the series to date. A 48-hour period of early access will have also contributed to the sales milestone.
It marks a strong return for the survival horror franchise, which Konami will hope to build on with new instalments such as Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill F in the future. In our Silent Hill 2 PS5 review, we highly praised Bloober Team for "faithfully and respectfully" recreating "one of the survival horror genre’s all-time greats". Awarding a 9/10 rating, we loved the modernisation of its combat, exploration, and story. We also produced a comprehensive Silent Hill 2 guide, providing Puzzle Solutions, Collectible locations, and a thorough Walkthrough.
Now the game has been out a week, we're taking your personal ratings in our Review Score Poll. Are you happy to see Silent Hill 2 becoming a sales success? Let us know in the comments below.

My first thought reading this was, I wonder if this scenario would make Square Enix happy...
Delighted for Bloober Team though. They were getting a lot of flack after that combat trailer.
Maybe this weekend I'll actually have the guts to walk further than the church...
Great! Perfect incentive to invest in new additions to the franchise.
@liamcroft
You've missed out a preposition in the subheader 👍
... edit: that makes sense now 😊
@LowDefAl not meaningless to the publisher. Games shipped are games sold as far as they're concerned. Sold through to customers is a different metric, so it's blurring the lines when the article includes digital sales with shipped.
@LowDefAl I'd say by default it is 'popular' if retailers are requesting that much stock. What isn't helpful is adding digital sales to the tally. Thats probably because they don't have access to sold-to-customer figures, as you'd expect. But I appreciate the point you're making.
Doesnt change the fact im still too scared to play it lol
Congratulations Bloober Team!
Such an awesome remake! 👏🏼
Hopefully there’ll be many more too
Did they really patch in that note in the game?
This game is so good. Just needs the performance cleaning up. But it’s still terrifying walking around that asylum 😂
I can't get into it. I really like the original, but the remake just isn't doing it for me. And I think it's mainly due to Unreal Engine 5, it's just an ugly mess whenever you move or look anything reflective.
I got platinum for this last weekend and it truly deserves all the sales and praise it's getting at the moment, well played Bloober.
@Kidfunkadelic83 just run towards enemies and rush through the game . that’s how you play scary games , gotta destroy that suspension of disbelief and cheese the game 😂
i’m serious though
The game is sold out on physical in many, many stores too.
Amazon still didn't send me my copy, short of stocks, and I had preordered !
It's really great for this game and for this franchise.
Kudos to the Bloober Team !
In my country it seems that retailers are completely out of stock. There are some absurd prices like 100euros for the blu ray.
N.i.c.e. im happy that silent hill 2 remake did really good.bloober team deserves it.i knew it was gonna be a hit.i been saying it and it is a excellent game.word up son
It's a great game, first 70% is tense, scary and unknowing, the last stretch is mental, it doesn't really let up til the end great game, just some of the puzzle re works are a little.bit too drawen out for my liking but still great
Imagine if this was a Square game... "Yeah, the game underperformed"
Congrats to Konami and Bloober Team for reaching that milestone.
@LowDefAl Then I guess you'll be happy to hear physical copies sold out in loads of countries really fast and now there's long wait times for a physical copy while retailers are waiting for new stock.
Great news. Now i wonder if Konami/Bloober gonna remake SH 1, 3, or 4...
Happy to see both Silent Hill 2 and Metaphor: ReFantazio selling well. Wild month for games on PS5/PC.
Sublime?
They turned a psychological horror game into a third person shooter.
Absolutely awful remake that does a massive disservice to the original, but I suppose the industry needs a win right now.
@Kidfunkadelic83 How far have you gotten now? 😂
Managed to get the platinum trophy last weekend, couldn't stop playing it. What a fantastic game this is. Big congrats to Bloober Team!
Good news, good remake! Hoping to see more of 'Townfall' and "f" soon.
@Shepherd_Tallon i havnt played it since we last spoke 😂
@nomither6 its the jump scares that get me lol
@Kidfunkadelic83 Same 😅 I talk the talk, but that's as far as I go.
@Shepherd_Tallon i dont even talk the talk 😂
Id love to see SH3 and The Room, i remember having issues with an end game boss in the Room, but loved the atmosphere of both
If this doesn’t give Blooper Team a chance to remake the very first game then I don’t know what else will! I have a friend who is incredible cynical when it comes to remakes and he was not holding out any kind of success for this remake at all. Spoke to him yesterday and he said it was probably his favourite remake that has been done yet, so it must be fantastic!! 😂
Congrats to Bloober Team for a fantastic remake of a classic game!
I played nonstop 5 days straight (40 hours) until the Platinum trophy 🏆 popped!
Hopefully, Silent Hill 1, 3, & 4 The Room remakes next, please. In that order.
I can see them doing 3 next since it takes place in the same regions of 2 (not saying this is a bad thing but re-using assets and environments would be smart from a business perspective). If I could pick though, 1 would be the one that “needs” a remake if any. 1 has its own charm with the distorted visuals and stuff and I love that but it would be great to see it on the same level as 2 now.
I just got to the “3rd level” in SH2 and it’s by far the creepiest, anxiety inducing game I’ve ever played. Highly recommend playing with headphones plugged into the control. If you think the graphics and taptics are given attention to detail, good god the sound is on another level of immersion; immaculate!
I'm like 3/4 of the way through the game and it's fantastic. I really love it.
1 million copies in three days is great and all but why isn't anyone mentioning that DB Sparking Zero sold 3 million copies in one day on Steam plus whatever it sold on consoles? Now that's a sales achievement to be raving about!
Well that's a hit. Looking forward to playing this and alan wake 2 back to back.
@Zemo55 actually SH2's sales are more impressive than DB's, due to the fact that horror is not a mainstream genre. Outside of RE, its really hard for a horror-focused game to sell millions of copies in a few days, and usually only RE can do it 'cause its more action focused, while SH2R is more focused on psychological horror rather than action.
Meanwhile, Dragon Ball has been one of the most popular anime IPs for decades worldwide, and its a fighting game, so you have 2 mainstream reasons as to why it sold that much, while SH2 is a niche franchise + horror game which makes its sales much more impressive
Boring bad buy on my part. Far to many annoying puzzles, lack of variety just didn't take to it
@torquex Alan wake 2 sucks
Really? I've watched a lot of silent hill 2 videos and i think it's worth a play if the price is right, i probaly should watch some aw2 gameplay videos then, thanks for the heads up.
