We awarded Bloober Team’s brilliant PS5 remake of Konami’s iconic survival horror Silent Hill 2 a 9/10 because we genuinely believe it’s one of the strongest games of the year. At the time of writing, the title currently commands an 87 on Metacritic, suggesting the rest of the industry agrees. But not everyone is happy about the high scores!

Earlier today, Wikipedia was forced to lock the game’s page after Internet trolls tried to rewrite the release’s review scores – literally. A screenshot shared on Reddit shows our score edited down from 9/10 to 3/10 – with other sites like Eurogamer.net and IGN also having their scores downgraded.

It’s not exactly clear why this has happened. One theory is that the game is being targeted for altering the clothing and facial features of some female characters. The remake was also the subject of intense scrutiny for the longest time, due to the original’s status as a classic game. Whatever the case, it’s ridiculous.

Fortunately, the original scores have been restored, and, as mentioned, the Wikipedia page has been locked to prevent further unnecessary edits.
