Announced at the end of 2021, Ubisoft has maintained admirable radio silence on the status of the upcoming Splinter Cell Remake, so much so that rumours of its cancellation even began to crop up. Well, we have an update, with a report from Insider Gaming confirming Sam Fisher's return is still in development, known by the codename "North."
According to the outlet, Ubisoft Toronto is using the Snowdrop engine the publisher has previously employed in games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws, but the project is still a long way off. Insiders' sources said we will probably be waiting until 2026 for a release date because, in classic video game fashion, the franchise-rebooting Splinter Cell game was still in the "very earliest stages of development" when first revealed.
Are you looking forward to the return of Splinter Cell at some point, hopefully in the not-too-distant future? Is the world ready for the return of true stealth action? Clamber on down into the comments section below.

Good to hear it’s not cancelled. Just do it right.
I'll take any Splinter Cell tbh, glad it's still in the works.
I'm still a little concerned that this might get cancelled due to Ubi's recent troubles,
This game would have benefitted from some radio silence. Why tell us in 2021 you're working on a game for 2026 that may get cancelled before we even see it?
Don't get your hopes up. There might not be an Ubisoft in a year's time the way they're going.
This game should have been out ages ago with the amount of people ubisoft employ, my guess is they have a very small team working on the remake. It reminds me of the Rainbow Six Lockdown which was called by some as Rainbow Six Letdown, and what a letdown it was.
The first Splinter Cell great
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow great
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory great
Ghost Recon with expansions great
Rainbow Six great
Rainbow Six Raven Shield plus expansions great
Red Storm Entertainment created some great games back then and those Tom Clancy games were great tactical titles and Ubisoft was just the publisher.
Then after those games mentioned it all went down hill, fast.
I'm still waiting for Beyond good and evil 2......
So the one who handle this remake is Ubisoft Toronto, the team who made Blacklist?
I'm personally skeptical if this remake will end up good, especially with how messed up the situation with current Ubisoft. But i guess there's some hope so we'll see...
This could really help Ubisoft right now. This and Rayman would be a sure hit
This is the type of thing Ubisoft need - focus on really remastering/remaking a beloved franchise, do it right and it might redeem the company for the last few installments of games, which are just copy and paste. Do something right Ubi!
To be fair the announcement for this one was more of a recruitment ad than an announcement for the fans so I'm not surprised it's still a ways off.
There was a rumour going about that they were also doing a remaster of Blacklist. I would absolutely take that!
Ohh I loved that game up to chaos theory. Then it went downhill. But I am looking forward to this. I just hope they do a proper remake and won't bring in to many of their own ideas it would mess it up. But it's definitely a pre order for me (for now). I'm hyped!! Please for once don't disappoint me ubisoft!!
Ubisoft has gotten so bad with their stealth in AC and even worse with outlaws. Not really excited at all to see a modern day Ubisoft attempt at Splinter Cell stealth.
It's baffling that this franchise has been dormant for so long now.
i'm kind of glad they are taking their time , its a great game , i would rather they make the best version possible instead of rush something out for the sake of having it out.
@RiotMaker2424 i bought blacklist but i didn't really play it so i don't know if it was good or not i heard mixed reviews ,but i love conviction though.
If it's Ubisoft I don't expect anything but bugs, boring gameplay, over priced, and riddled with "the message" I didn't think I'll ever buy anything the company makes ever again
I mean the original splinter cell was a master piece for it's time.
If they can capture that again and make the ai even more realistic. I'm all in but I'd rather they spin it off into a new franchise than just remake the rest. Of course for the except few of them, it went alot more action than stealth.
Personally, I'm waiting for The Division 3. My brother and I love the series and have finished both on multiple systems
Probably trying to find the right woman for the roll.
Its obtained radio silence on Beyond good and Evil 2 and that's beat Duke Nukem for the longest game in production
I never bought launch game from Ubisoft, Always wait for sale, But here i will buy it on launch to show Ubisoft that we need more remake and Single player game and no more open world.
This game has been in development hell, I don't trust ubisoft with anything they do
