Fresh from the sublime critical reception – and sales – of its Silent Hill 2 remake, Polish developer Bloober Team is back once more with an all-new survival horror named Cronos: The New Dawn.
According to the press release, the game is set in a “grim world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology” – sounds just lovely, doesn’t it? A trailer showed a suited man playing chess with an old lady, before slashing her like Wolverine.
It sounds like the title will toggle between timelines, a little bit like The Medium. “In the past, you will witness a world in the throes of The Change, a cataclysmic event that forever altered humanity. Meanwhile, in the ravaged wastelands of the future, every moment is a fight for survival against dangerous abominations that will test both your reflexes and your tactical thinking.”
You’ll play as a Harvester, searching for key people from the past who perished during the apocalypse. Your task is to extract their “essence” – we assume that’s what’s happening in the trailer when he cuts up the aforementioned old lady.
“In a desolate world filled with ever-present danger, your survival hinges on your ability to strategize and plan ahead. The enemies you’ll encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remnants of humanity – defeating them will require you to make full use of your arsenal. During battle, quick decisions can mean the difference between life and death.”
There’s no release date just yet, but the game’s due out in 2025.

This looked absolutely twisted!
Bloober Team has been busy and I am all for it.
Thank god this is coming to Playstation. Coolest reveal from the Xbox stream.
Can they graduate from remake to a really great horror game of their own?
Looks promising...
'A trailer showed a suited man playing chess with an old lady, before slashing her like Wolverine.'
I think that move is called The Queen's Gambit. Looks like Blooper have found a niche. Good for them.
Day one! This looks like they’re taking everything learnt from SH2 Remake and dialling it up!
Color me very interested.
I loved The Medium and I loved the trailer. Definitely getting the game.
Bloober is cooking AND seasoning it seems. I know they also have 4 other untitled projects on deck. Here's to hoping after selling a million copies of SH2R, they can get funded to expand their team and that two of those other projects are a remake of any of the other 3 SH games!
Slashing like Wolverine?
There's nothing of the kind going on...
Those metal elements are too thin for combat.
Maybe for extracting information or something along those lines.
Bloober Team is on a roll!
And coming up with a new IP now, in a period so filled with games in the " Triple Re " category (remakes, remasters reboots).
Good for them, I hope they keep it up!
I'm all for this turnaround in public perception for bloober! This looks great!
I still don’t know how I feel about Bloober, even with SH2 being a success. I just remember how I was blown away by The Medium in initial trailers, only to be feeling really tepid after playing it. This could repeat that. It looks good though.
