Digital Eclipse has unveiled the list of playable games in its upcoming compilation title, Tetris Forever.
Celebrating one of the most popular and prolific video games of all time, this is the latest in the developer's Gold Master Series of interactive documentaries. Working with the Tetris Company, Digital Eclipse's latest effort brings together 15+ games, some of which are making their debut outside of Japan in this collection.
The list is as follows:
- Tetris, released by Spectrum Holobyte in 1988 on the Apple II
- Tetris, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1988 on the Famicom
- Hatris, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1990 on the Famicom
- Tetris 2 + Bombliss, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1990 on the Famicom
- Hatris, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1991 on the Game Boy
- Hatris, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1992 on the Nintendo Entertainment System
- Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1992 on the Super Famicom
- Tetris Battle Gaiden, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1993 on the Super Famicom
- Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss Genteiban, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1993 on the Super Famicom
- Super Tetris 3, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1994 on the Super Famicom
- Super Bombliss, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1995 on the Super Famicom
- Super Bombliss, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1995 on the Game Boy
- Super Bombliss DX, released by Bullet-Proof Software in 1998 on the Game Boy
Additionally, Tetris Time Warp is an all-new version developed by Digital Eclipse; it will swap between numerous Tetris games at certain intervals while you're playing, changing the rules and gameplay on the fly.
As well as all the games, this has an interactive timeline full of video features, photos, old advertisements, and much more.
It sounds like it's in line with other recent games from Digital Eclipse; Atari 50, The Making of Karateka, and Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story are fantastic, and Tetris Forever sounds like another great history lesson.
There's still no exact date, but it's still planned to release in 2024, so it can't be far off now. Are you excited to check this one out? Drop blocks in the comments section below.

Great for the collectors but once you've played Tetris Effect or Tetris 99 nothing else will compare
Always enjoy Tetris!
@Member_the_game As a once through experience nothing beats the elation of Tetris Effect. Pure gaming synesthesia. But I still swear for pure replay value the pack-in Game Boy Tetris is still the most addictive for "just one more run". Sadly that's not in here either making this an interesting curio, but far from definitive.
Really happy to see the Gold Master Series continue. As great as it will be to have access to all of these in one package, it’s the documentary stuff that really has me interested. The Karateka and Llamasoft releases were like mini museums, and I’m looking forward to another dive into the recent past.
Very excited for this though I would've liked a few more unique entries. Really did expect Tetris Plus for example.
Oh well still a day 1 purchase for me.
I’m after a Vita copy of Tetris for my collection 😁
@Mikey856 Tetris Ultimate is truly awful btw. Only Ubisoft could f up Tetris it seems.
I first played Tetris on the C64, and it was sublime.
I was also a huge fan of the Atari/ Tengen arcade version too.
However, Tetris Effect is the best version for me by a long way. That is all!
Id pay a lot of money to have Tetris 99 on PS5
@BlaizeV oh good! Well luckily that’s one I’m after for the collection and not to play lol
Great collection, but as others have stated, Tetris 99 & Tetris Effect are the pinnacle for Tetris. What I really want is Tetrisphere!!
Trailer says 40 years in the making, that's the longest development time to make a game ever
@Digit2021 Beat out Concord,lol
Anybody heard of Welltris? When I saw this, I was hoping it would include a remake of that, too. Never seen it on anything modern.
