Sci-fi survival game The Alters from developers 11 Bit Studios has been hit with a delay and is now expected to launch sometime in early 2025. In a refreshing statement, president Przemysław Marszał said that "after so many years of production, the risk that the game will have any shortcomings is unnecessary for us."
Marszał made the remarks to Polish finance publication bankier.pl (thanks, IGN), explaining: "The production schedule for The Alters was very tight. There was uncertainty as to whether the developers would have enough time to complete all the work to meet the quality we all expected."
The Alters strands players in the space boots of Jan, an amnesiac miner who must create alternate versions of himself to survive on a hostile, alien planet. Known for creating strategy-adjacent games with particularly bleak atmospheres, the developer is perhaps best known for This War of Mine, and recently released on PC (but still coming to PS5) the survival city-builder Frostpunk 2.

Sounds like an intriguing concept and they do know how to craft engaging worlds/mechanics. Hope they hit a homerun.
And nobody cared
I am looking forward to playing this, and I’m glad they are taking the time necessary to get it right.
I had forgot about this. I think it sounds and looks very promising. These guys always make interesting titles, I loved Anomaly back in the day. They also publish great stuff, like Moonlighter.
Thought that guy was wearing a Portugal strip.
@OthmaneAD Maybe we should care. I read so much complaining about the lack of original games, but little engagement when there's something new. If that's really such a problem as many say it is then we should pay more attention to games like this.
@tameshiyaku agreed. There are so many unique games coming, especially from indie developers. But hardly anyone buys them, then those same people will say there's hardly any new game ideas. I wouldn't mind but generally they cost a lot less than the new AAA games, so trying out the occasional ones wouldn't set you back too far. And they are on offer fairly regularly too
I've been waiting for this since it was announced. Glad they are taking the extra time. Day1 purchase for me.
@nessisonett yea same here
