Infinity Nikki, the outrageously twee free-to-play open world fashion-‘em-up by a former Breath of the Wild director, will get its long-awaited technical playtest on the PS5 soon. This means your opportunity to play this cosy platformer is close, after betas ran on PC and smartphones previously.
Recruitment is open now, and will end on 1st November. All you need to do to be in with a chance of participating is fill in the following survey. There’s no guarantee of entry, but you’re probably more likely to gain entry if you have experience with gachas and previous Nikki titles.
It’s worth noting that any progress you make in the technical playtest will eventually be wiped, and this won’t be representative of the final product. We expect it will include the same content as the aforementioned betas available on other platforms, which mostly focused on exploration and some platforming quests.
For those who haven’t been following this game, it’s based on a long-running series of successful dress-up titles, although this is the biggest in scale yet. As an open world game, you need to collect and wear different costumes in order to unlock magical abilities, which enable you to progress through the world.
It’s a bit like a cross between Genshin Impact and the old Nintendo DS Style Savvy series, if you remember that. There’s no actual release date attached to the game beyond a vague 2024 window, but these technical tests presumably represent the final stages of development before a full release..

Is it a quiet day for news today?
@Oram77 Not excited for this one?
I like my quirky cutesie games with fun art styles, but this... Girls can have this one
I'll be honest i would give it a try, but another 'service game' might be just to much.... rather had some small adventure....
I have no interest in this one, but BotW developers worked on it… and I can’t turn down a good beta!
Also, after how tense I’ve felt playing the Silent Hill 2 remake, I’m starting to feel like I’ve gotten soft. This game is soft.
Easy pass for me.
I would love them to publish the demographic spread for the beta testers, this game might have a lot of surprising (and less surprising) niche followers
Already played closed beta on PC. Bad: no controller support whatsoever, playing platformer with keyboard is akin to torture. Good: I got paid for beta testing, not the other way around.
Game looks great but I tend to avoid f2p titles.
Not expecting to get in, but I signed up regardless. Game looks interesting.
@get2sammyb you guys not doing a CoD review? It’s had the weekend for multiplayer
Twas unfamiliar with the word twee. Now I know.
Edit: also I know I'm using twas incorrectly here. just trying to match Sammy's energy.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner We are, but still working on it. We didn't get access until Friday, when the game launched.
Wait, it's a free-to-play title? I was semi-interested, but seeing as it's a live service game, I'll probably pass.
Dead or Alive - Venus Vacation Prism looks much more cosy to me!
I honestly thought this looked cool until I found out it was free to play pish.
I’m really looking forward to this game. Wish I could be part of this play test…
@Oram77 I’m actually looking forward to this game.
Can't wait to play this sissy-em-up
Man this game company is handing out sponsorships like air seeing YouTubers covering this game is weird
I'll definitely play this when it's released. Seems like a fun and relaxing game for me and wifey.
I was interested in this until I saw that it was a Gatcha game.
Cosiest lol. Until it kicks in the usual gacha with loads of different tutorials for tedious modes it wants you to learn for a million upgrade materials and crap... Ugh no thanks. It's what killed Genshin for me. At least with Star Rail you can autobattle to get all the annoying crap.
I'm going to be there on day one anyway so I can wait.
I'm also hoping for some PSN avatars too.
@Luna-Harmony Aha, what a title 😂
Lets all sissy are way to greatness yay.
Float Nikki by the power of the frills.
