As we reported earlier this weekend, customers in some countries have received their PS5 Pro consoles early, and are beginning to share some details about the device. We noted that in the supercharged system’s settings, there’s an option to enhance PS4 games – and it hasn’t taken long for a comparison image of Bloodborne to emerge.
While we’re not going to host the image on Push Square for obvious reasons, you can see it for yourself through here. It shows the seminal FromSoftware favourite running on a standard PS5 in backwards compatibility, and then compares it to the PS5 Pro with the aforementioned enhance feature enabled.
It’s still early days, of course, but the results here aren’t really worth shouting about. To our naked eye, the game appears to be outputting at the same resolution, but it looks like the PS5 Pro is adding a little extra sharpening on top. It does make a difference, specifically on text and the user interface, but you may need to pull out your magnifying glass to see it.
Obviously, there’s tons more to learn here, so we’re not going to write this off based on one pre-release comparison. But the results here perhaps underline why Sony hasn’t been marketing this specific feature, as it doesn’t appear to be making a particularly big difference really.
Stay tuned, though, because there’ll be lots more to learn about the PS5 Pro when it launches next week.

Nothing worth shouting about? (Cue sarcastic tone) I guess the ps5 Pro isn't what it's cracked up to be then. Sony have dropped the ball with this one again 🫢 (edited because people are not picking up on the sarcasm.)
There's is definitely some difference but not by much. I don't think this will sway anybody to buy it who originally didn't want to get it. But for those who are already determined to get it, it's a nice little perk.
All what these pictures create inside of me is not a craving for the PS5 Pro but for a proper Bloodborne Remastered.
Idk, I can’t tell the difference on my cellphone screen. Still getting the Pro though.
@Northern_munkey Ikr, would be funny if there were people actually waiting for this specific comparison picture, to be sold on the Pro or not. And after seeing this they're like “see i guess the Pro isn't at all what its cracked up to be”
Im assuming your post was meant sarcastically, if not, you may ignore this message 😌
The biggest thing to sort it out with Bloodborne is the uneven frame pacing and dodgy performance. No point it looking better if it still runs the same. Fromsoft are such chancers when it comes to performance. They get by on their rep.
Man it’s desperate times out there for Bloodborne fans. They are running around like blood staved beast searching for 60 fps, no matter the price to their sanity.
That's just a simple sharpening filter applied...
As I said in the previous article: Stop over hyping everything!
in spite of all of this, i think we will still get the inevitable "ignore the haters, ps5 pro is worth it" article in the coming days

@LogicStrikesAgain yes I was being very sarcastic.
@Steel76 what do you mean now?
What a bunch of fuss over nothing. Hardware that nobody needs and its games can't even manage to squeeze all the juice out of the base system.
Now we're left poking at this new machine to magically make our beloved older games a bit better.
Just like how the PS5 pro showcase showed mostly PS4 games... Because the PS5 literally has nothing impressive to show. What a sad joke allround. Unbelievable lmao
Edit: I'm not saying PS5 has no games. The PS4/3 still have the most impressive games with TLOU2, RDR2 and the sheer amounts of physics in GTA IV alone are more impressive than anything this gen.
I'm more impressed with that than the high speed world loading of the current gen (physicsless, shallow, very surface level) Spider-Man 2.
That's all it improved on SM1. Faster travel/ loading. Besides that there's nothing that impressive over its previous gen counterpart
@Northern_munkey How on earth should a Pro improve the game if the code is capped to 30FPS? There is no magic that could change compiled code at runtime. If Bloodbourne would have an uncapped mode it would run with 60FPS with higher resolution even on a base PS5.
@McTwist So you just trolling? Because the PS5 has stacks of games. This year alone has seen the PS5 get more exclusives or console exclusives then both Xbox and Switch.
The Pro is worth it if you want a better quality image and not a blur. You seen Rebirth on it? Its a night and day difference. Even Dragon's Dogma 2 will be running and looking better on it. Alan Wake 2 has also seen big improvements as well.
Wow, the haters come out in the comment section today. A mixture of having no clue of technical aspects of game programming and just jealousy. If you don't like a hardware just don't buy it but leave the people who like it alone with comments. It's like: Why the hell do they sell chocolate ice cream at the supermarket - I HATE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM
It looks like plenty of people here were expecting Bloodborne 2 when playing Bloodborne on PS5 Pro. I'll wait for an actual gameplay video/analysis because I suspect that the Pro may be able to smooth Bloodborne's uneven framerate for a much better experience.
@Sanctanox I was being sarcastic ffs..I was taking the proverbial out of all the ps5 Pro knockers whilst I had chance..
Never understood why everyone rates Bloodborne anyway.
It so weird that every article on this site gets loaded up with people who are pissed about what the article says lol. This had to be the most miserable gaming community on the internet. Aside from IGN, of course.
I still don’t get all the negativity around the pro. I won’t be getting one, it’s not for me because I’m happy to play games at 30fps and the dragons dogma 2 frame rate was a none issue for me. But people have been moaning about frame rates and resolutions all this gen and Sony decide to release something for these players and everyone still moans. Not to mention the price, which isn’t actually that bad considering what specs your getting.
@illegalmonkey oh I'm loving this..I wonder how many others that don't understand what sarcasm is will have something to say..especially when I've stated twice already that I was being SARCASTIC...
Thing is, this isn't going to change much. Those of us who buy a Pro aren't buying it to play Bloodborne. Those of us who aren't convinced will remain so.
And those us who pray for a Bloodborne remaster will continue to weep into our Lady Maria-themed mugs every morning over breakfast at the lastest kick in the teeth.

@Kiefer-Sutherland The site has really started to get filled with a bad comment section. Look at every poll to really sell that to you. The recent Spider-man 2 poll had over 70% of players like the game but 80% of the comments were people who disliked it.
@LowDefAl "The argument for untapped power doesn't hold up." I can get behind this but I'll say that there is certainly a case that some development teams are a lot more proficient at using what the ps5 has under its hood than others. I'm not saying you are wrong..I'm just looking at it from another perspective.
@LowDefAl agreed. Its funny how the games that run the best and look awesome at the same time usually use a custom engine. UE5 can look awesome in some games but very lacking in others.
@LowDefAl
>This is not like the old days of custom hardware that used wildly different architectures and required different ways of using and took years to learn how to use.
Then isn't that a problem of current gens? PS3 had a natural curve of games looking better and better. Besides, there's definitely more going on that is definitely a lack of current gen hardware when every PS3 game had some sort of impressive physics.
Why hasn't the GTA IV physics been replicated or even improved upon?
Hell nothing comes even close.
So you're telling me all these shallow features of today's gaming like ray tracing, focus on framerates, graphics, particles, whatever. All of them are turned up to 11 and they can't handle a bit of physics?? And even without the physics the hardware is running at almost max capacity!? That's just sad.
Wouldn't that then be something inherently wrong with the hardware then? I'd say that's a MAJOR problem. Inexcusable even.
Have you seen the Ubisoft AAAA "physics"? How in gods name is that even possible to be that bad in 2024. Literally all of Ubisoft games have that problem this year. It's pathetic and no Pro is gonna fix that lol
@DennisReynolds
I've edited and comment above for clarification. I'm not saying PS5 has no games fyi
Bloodborne remasters or bloodborne 2 would sell so much.sony is on drugs now.word up son
@breakneck yeah, this is the same where ever you go. People are more likely to voice their complaints and criticisms which make most comment sections on the internet a place of negativity. If I buy an item online and it works exactly like I hoped I’m not gonna leave a review. If, however it wasn’t what I wanted or didn’t work as intended I’m going to leave a negative review. It’s the same with games, and this is how it’s always gonna be.
I've got a 4k TV and the PS4 games I'm most excited to see if they get some polishing are Darkest Dungeon 1 & Witcher: Thronebreaker. These are pretty static games with a lot of staring at UI and Darkest Dungeon 1 looked pretty low fidelity when I last played it. I'm just interested to see if the resolution is upscaled towards 4k in a noticeable and perhaps significant way
“Try Remaster, but hole”
@LowDefAl There was that crappy Stellar Blade game but I can't think of anything else
Paying $700 to barley make a PS4 game look sort of better is so generous of our Sony overlords.
Their majesty has worked so hard to bring us this greatness we have long awaited
@Keyblade-Dan stellar blade was crappy? I have not played it myself yet but by all accounts it's a decent game.
@Majin_Deicide first off it's barely not barley..secondly sarcasm is wasted here as I've already proven..
No real difference unfortunately. Not that I expected there to be one for PS4 games. I'm honestly surprised that the option is even there when it doesn't really do anything in practice. Resolution is exactly the same between the two examples.
I've just said exactly so yesterday about Bloodborne, in a comment on the previous article about PS5 Pro improving PS4 games:
"As for the resolution... maybe it'll make it a bit clearer, but without improved textures that won't serve us much."
Well, there you go ^__^
People need to understand that Bloodborne will run the exact same way even on PS6 because the game needs modification to remove the uneven frame times and boost to 60fps.
Sony doesn’t have the “luxury” of using a DirectX layer to trick the game to 60fps.
Okay PSSR could sharpen the image, but performance requires more effort. Simply throwing more processing cycles isn’t the solution.
I think it’s a symptom of the FromSoftware engine, because when Microsoft got Dark Souls 3 to use FPS Boost on Series X|S it actually needed FromSoftware to change something to the Xbox version for it to work correctly (as it never got an X1X patch).
That sure does say something about just how hungry people are for anything Bloodborne related.
I mean these people got their shiny, new, expensive hardware and what's the first thing they do with it? Fire up Bloodborne again knowing full well there was no way it wasn't going to make much difference at all and yet did so anyway just to confirm their suspicions.
Just a funny observation is all.
@Jrs1 "Never understood why everyone rates Bloodborne anyway."
Nothing like it. Try and make it past Cleric Beast or Father Gascoigne you'll understand.
Looks like the ps5 pro is as overrated as the game
You need to put your eyes on TV like a VR2 to see the differences.
@JP80 "Looks like the ps5 pro is as overrated as the game." We have a comedy genius in our midst...
@TheArt I'll take your word for it 👍
@Tyaku I’d buy a new cellphone instead 😅
@Korgon That's what I'M saying! Half the complaints everyone made when the PS5 Pro was announced was that they were showing off PS5 ports of PS4 games... and now people go straight into tossing vanilla PS4 titles in this thing.
Now, this IS something worthy to test out because it's definitely a feature Sony includes, but the irony of it all just too priceless. If it was that easy to make a huge difference, then flat out NO remasters/remakes would matter.
I'm more concerned with people truly convincing themselves that a Bloodborne port isn't happening more than anything though. Aside from the coping, they complain about these guys doing remakes/remasters all the time and think they'll magically skip this one. The 10th anniversary is literally next year! They host a LOT of Soulslike games too!
@JP80 You've nailed it
THE PS5 PRO IS FOR KINGS!!!! THE PS5 PRO IS FOR KIIIIIIINNNNGGGGSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve got a bad feeling about this
Right... but it's $850...
D’ya remember that Dress meme where some people thought it was Blue and Black, while others thought it was White and Gold?
Well like that but some people see a discernible upgrade in graphics, and the others don’t.
Pretty astounding stuff. How does Sony do it?
PC having the best looking and performing version of Bloodborne was not on my 2024 bingo card.
Out of season april fools joke? Because i don't see a damn difference whatsoever and I'm sensitive to this type of stuff.
