CD Projekt Red Partners with Netflix for New Cyberpunk Animated Series

Fans of the excellent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are sitting pretty, with CD Projekt Red today confirming a partnership with Netflix to produce another animated project set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. We have to assume it will be something separate from Edgerunners, however, as CD Projekt has not confirmed another collaboration with Studio Trigger.

The news comes to us by way of the Polish firm's latest financials (thanks, VGC), with chief financial officer, Piotr Nielubowicz revealing the exciting news: "I’m also very happy to announce that we’re working on another animation project set in the Cyberpunk universe, which will be released on Netflix." VGC reminds us that CDPR and Netflix did release a mysterious teaser back in September, which you can check out below.

Fantastic news! Loved Edgerunners and still listen to the OST on Spotify almost daily. Cannot wait.

Edgerunners is the only good bit of Cyberpunk content they've had so yeah I'm excited. It was actually political and told a good story.

Really important which studio takes it on.

I'd be fine if production i.g. takes a shot at it if it's not trigger, but there are several other really talented studios.
Wouldn't mind it being done like Megalobox either, having a 90s OVA Aesthetic. Golden age of anime.

I hope negotiations with Trigger are ongoing, the animation style was a big reason it was so enjoyable for me.

Edgerunners was great, though naturally that was down to Studio Trigger. It sounds as if this new show will be something separate, perhaps with a different studio, so I'll have to wait and see if it's any good or not.
