Atlus has uploaded a new PS5 demo for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance to the PS Store, allowing those interested to sample the expanded version of the Nintendo Switch original released earlier this year. This is not tied to a PS Plus Premium subscription; it's free and available for everyone. However, despite releasing on the last-gen system, the demo isn't available on PS4.
Those on PS5 will be able to experience the start of the game, and if they buy the game afterwards, their save data will carry over. Since its summer release, Vengeance has been updated a few times with new monsters to battle and quests to complete.

In our SMT V: Vengeance PS5 review, we awarded a 7/10 rating and shared praise for new and improved storyline and great soundtrack. "Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is the definitive way to play Atlus' devilish game of demon fusion, with a new suite of bells and whistles to smooth over what can, at times, still be an abrasive gameplay experience," we concluded. "It's incredibly combat-heavy, which can become oppressive, but working towards raising that perfect demon remains as engaging as ever."
Will you give Vengeance a shot via this new PS5 demo? Let us know in the comments below.

Don't sleep on this game, especially if you have been enjoying Metaphor: Refantazio. I have not finished yet but I am about 60 (ish) hours in and it's a lot of crazy fun.
Just started this today after a couple of weeks in Japan ending with Tokyo Tower. Was quite surprised to see Tokyo Tower at the very start of the game. Looking forward to playing more, I'm enjoying the increased freedom so far compared to Persona 5.
Good give it more exposure. I want smt 6 to be multiplat from day 1
I think this version of V might just be my favorite atlus game so far. It's story is still nothing all that amazing but it's just so fun to run around in, explore, do battles, fuse demons, etc. I seriously hope they use this game as a template moving forward for both smt and persona
The best Atlus game this year.
Five months after the release should have had the demo before Vengeance came out.
I’ve been already been playing it over the last couple of months.
Love the remaster more then the original version on the switch
Love the SMT V appreciation in the comments.
It was a fantastic game on Switch, and it's even better in this form on more capable devices. My Steam Deck runs the game at a locked 60fps!
@Judal27 It's fine. The story never had to be amazing. It just needed to do something with the characters and improve the narrative pacing... and Vengeance accomplishes that.
On top of maintaining and improving the core gameplay, reducing the impact of the level scaling, etc.
I recently finished Persona 5 and now I’m deeply into Persona 3 Reload. They have quickly become some of my favourite video games ever. I’m very curious about this game!
SMTV is a 10/10 GOTY for me. It is so original with a strong art direction, you will never find this kind of experience anywhere else. But I understand that not everyone will like this kind of game.
@Robinbird It is very different from Persona, don’t approach SMT with these games in mind. The only common points are the fighting system and the bestiary of demons that you need to merge to gain power. SMT is like Soul game, with a lot of battles harder and harder with quick game over if you make a small mistake. But it’s super fun and the dark and depressing atmosphere makes the game very special. It’s also super weird and borderline immoral. Like there is a side quest with a cat like creature asking you to buy him alcohol to party with other demons… it’s full of innuendo as well
@Ralizah I did like how they fleshed out characters like tao and yuzuru more but I'm still bitter cause that last arc could've been so amazing if done properly
Solid JRPG. You really can't go wrong with SMTV. Highly addictive gameplay loop and challenging as well. Just don't go in expecting Persona.
