The Witcher 4 PS5 PlayStation

Developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Ciara Berkeley will play Ciri, the protagonist of the just-revealed The Witcher 4. The role was previously portrayed by Jo Wyatt in The Witcher 3. Fan speculation started to swirl immediately after the reveal trailer aired on Friday, and CDPR has since confirmed that Berkeley will also portray Ciri in the full game.

CDPR confirmed to TheGamer that Ciri had been recast following The Game Awards, with no specific reason given. Recently, the Polish developer "slapped" Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle for (as we now know) spilling the beans early on his own involvement, so we know that one familiar voice will be returning, at least. Berkely, an Irish actress known for the TV mini-series The Deceived will undoubtedly find a whole new level of fame as Ciri (a role for which she already enjoys the all-important IMDB credit).

What do you think of the recasting of Ciri in The Witcher 4? Did Wyatt's performance especially stick out to you, and will you miss it? Let us know in the comments section below.
