This past weekend marked the release of multiple large-scale live-service titles, and all appear to have achieved instant success. The Path of Exile 2 servers were brought to their knees as early access went live, Marvel Rivals brought in 10 million players, and now Infinity Nikki developer PaperGames has confirmed it did the same.
Writing on Twitter, the game's official account said: "Infinity Nikki has reached over 10 million downloads worldwide! On this whimsical journey, take each step with confidence and embrace the brilliance of every moment." To celebrate all of that success, 10 Resonite Crystals have been sent to every player's mailbox.
Now the free game has established an engaged playerbase, it'll look to keep them playing with new events, dresses, and content drops. Infinity Nikki makes its profits from the gacha system, where players can use pulls to try and unlock five-star outfits and gear. Given the cutesy nature of it all, dressing your own character up in the loveliest clothing possible is a real draw for some PS5, PS4 users.

Been dressing my Nikki for 7 hours two days ago. Might jump back after work today. Since have few free days coming up and not much planned.
I’ve played a whopping 24 minutes of this one so far. It seemed nice enough from that. Is there a Pushsquare review incoming?
China is on a roll these days it seems. Aren't both PoE2 and Marvel Rivals also chinese owned? Interesting to see how the market reacts to this.
I will stay with Honkai Star Rail, no thanks.
Unashamedly hooked. 32 hours in and really enjoying it. It's so laid back and chilled I lose track of time playing it
But I thought people were tired of ftp games.
I like it but the movement feels a little bit weird for me.
I wanted to play but it looks like there is no option for Invert Y
@naruball The most played games in the world are f2p, people just don't want Sony's attempt at trying to hit it big. They have one Success with three flops so far them being Destruction AllStars, Concord and Fairgame$ (you can feel it will be on this list 🙃)
@Juanalf oh, I know
Though to be fair others have failed, too. But to say that people are tired of ftp games is just wrong.
It's just a really fun game. Gorgeous looking world to explore, fun little side activities, plenty of customization, surprisingly great music. I hop on and I'm hooked for hours. Can't believe im saying this about what is essentially a dress up series lol
@Throb you’d think in 2024 this option would come as standard. Teardown was another game that launched without a invert Y option, and we had to wait a few weeks for them to patch it in 🙄
Don't forget about the redemption codes! - for the ones that's playing.
I'm kinda excited to see how this month's gacha revenue looks like 👏💦
Also, I doubt Digital Foundry would cover it but if they would, colour me surprised 😏
Oh and uh, Nikki's not on PS4 btw.
@naruball #6 Well said~ 🤝
@Frmknst What a stupid comment. What makes the games you play any less of a waste then?
@Frmknst Indeed, seeing people wasting their lives in a comment section putting down others’ enjoyment of a chill game is pretty sad.
Fantastic game, I am totally hooked. Those extra 10 pulls make me happy, i need to complete my fairy suit
@Frmknst with 3 minutes you dont even tried the game, give it a chance, is such a great joy to play this game
Cosy, so very cosy!
I have been playing it for 15min and gotta admit that the clothes, accessories and hairstyles are so beautiful and the game is really chill.
Not the type of game to play for long but I don't wonder why it's popular.
Isn't 10 million low for Nikki? The game was hyped as having 30+ million registrations before launch... I'm enjoying it so hope it does well
I'm tempted but watching the misses play pretty much non stop over the last three days has put me on the fence. Visuals look great and I like the idea of exploring the open world and catching bugs and fishing, but, the dress up mechanic and doll based character design makes it a bit too girly/whimsical for my tastes. Although I've played all the Atelier games and Princess Peach Showtime so maybe nows not the time to start caring about that 😅.
Rivals, PoE 2 and Nikki.....examples of live service done right. Watch those players and money just flow in....
I’m about 10 hours in so far, mostly done finding all the fast travel points on the map, which is the first thing I always do in games like this whether it’s Zelda, EldenRing, or Ghost of Tsushima. And I’m enjoying it so far. Don’t see how or why I’d ever pay for anything, I’m not even sure howto use any of the items I have now.😂 I did 2 “ pulls” w/ timed resonance but unless they make items mandatory for exploring or opening the new areas I don’t see the point. I mean sure I know the point is the skins, the clothing and accessories, but can they really make enough money off of completely unnecessary items to keep their servers going?🤷🏻♂️
Oh well, we’ll see how it goes after I finish the map and the main quests. I need to fix the store next. I know I bailed on ZZZ b/c I got bored at some hard cut off grinding level up points. Really have no idea how this one will play out. Though I do think it’s funny some of the side quests go up like do 1, 5, 10, 1000. 😆
I jumped on to try it but was immediately met with an account setup requirement so I was like "well, nevermind I guess." Lol
Im enjoying it. I haven’t played much because of my lousy internet and I’m having trouble with the camera controls. But I am having fun. Although. I will admit, I’ve really only played on day one. Last night (day four) I barely got the Pear-Pad. So I really haven’t done much…
@Throb Yeah, I’ve been waiting forever to play this game. But that’s been a huge dealbreaker for me. I’m trying to play without it, but struggling a bit…
I tried it. And no invert controls option. That’s a no for me for now. But I really want to try it. I installed Marcel rivals after that and again, no option to invert. Guess they don’t want me to play video games anymore
Over 30 hours in so you could say I'm hooked 😅
One the the most relaxing beautiful games I've played, up there with Blue Reflection. And yes, it does seem reminiscent of Blue Reflection at times.
Isnt this the reason why Playstation and other publishers are so heavily focused on creating live service games? Everyone keeps telling them that they shouldnt do it because thats not what the market wants, or the market is oversaturated, but also this happens… Very confusing for publishers to hear what some people are saying and what the numbers show that people are playing.
@invictus4000 You don't have to create an account, it can make one for you. However..you should make one on the Infold website BEFORE playing on PS5 because then you can use that account and log in to the PS5 plus other versions on different platforms (iPhone, iPad, Window, Android, etc) and your progress is cross-saved.
I didn't expect anything from it but it's a really good exploration game.
