Prior to the release of Elden Ring, the Dark Souls series, comprised of Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, Dark Souls III, and all of its associated DLC and subsequent re-releases and remasters, amounted to an astonishing 27 million units, as well as perhaps being the most influential of the last decade. Elden Ring alone has now surpassed all that, with a boost from Shadow of the Erdtree, and that is precisely why the recently revealed, more compact Elden Ring: Nightreign is coming in 2025.
Niko Partners' director of research and insights, Daniel Ahmad, revealed the fun fact on X, referring to Bandai Namco's confirmation that Elden Ring had sold over 28.6 million copies as of September 2024. This shows an increase of 3.6 million units over the numbers reported in June, with Shadow of the Erdtree launching on the 21st of that month.
Are you looking forward to the release of Nightreign? Are you willing to give Bandai Namco that little bit more? Can you believe the breakthrough success of Elden Ring? Let us know in the comments section below.

Soon to be 1st party 🙊
Hopefully, Sony (if the acquisition goes ahead) can help them with a few of their rougher edges.
I just about managed to play through some of the rough framerate dips / stutters, but refused to get SotE because matters were worse there (not sure this isnt fixed now by Pro?).
In the end though, they drove me away from the game the 3rd time they nerfed almost out of all existence the ash of war I was using. (Though im sure they left in the OP bleed builds from what I read).
@LogicStrikesAgain Let's hope they keep games multiplatform if Sony buys them.
Odd isn't it that the most accessible game (for dark souls at least) gets them the most money.
It's almost as if the git gud scrub crowd are a vocal minority or something.
