The ever-changing Fortnite is again reinventing itself, this time as a Valorant-style 5v5 tactical first-person shooter. Best of all, Fortnite Ballistic is available this week, launching into early access on Wednesday, 11th December.
Epic Games marketing director Molly Dyer provided additional details on the PlayStation Blog. In round-based combat, players will be split between attackers and defenders. Attackers attempt to plant the Rift Point Device, which can be primed at two separate points on the map (defenders must prevent this).
There are no respawns, and the round ends if either one team is eliminated or if a Rift Point Device detonates. After six rounds, the roles are reversed, and the first team to achieve victory in seven total rounds is declared the winner. To spice things up, each player begins the round with a pistol and is given limited credits to purchase better weapons and equipment in the Counter-Strike style.
What do you think of Fortnite Ballistic? How long until we get the traditional turn-based Fortnite JRPG of our dreams? Let us know in the comments section below.

I'm surprised they are releasing this so close to OG mode which a million people were playing this weekend. I suppose it was ready?
Not a first person guy so this is easily avoidable for me. Have fun everyone who won't be killing me in BR.
Oh also, Fortnite "year in review" is apparently up. Not sure how safe this is, just saw it on Twitter. Seems legit.🤷♂️

What is even happening? So crazy! All I want is another Battle Pass that's actually interesting and has cool skins. Lol
It would be cool if they made, like, a survival mode.
...Wait.
Valorant! That's the one that isn't XDefiant. I'm not making fun, I just kept getting the names confused recently.
...so they definitely wanted the kids to just refer to XDefiant as "XD," huh? That's hilarious
This mode might just bring me back to Fortnite. I've always only played when friends send me an invite when I'm online but not often. But this mode seems like fun and something different that can keep a solid balance instead of an all-out Battle Royale approach.
This would get me playing fortnite hate battle royals I only touch Lego fortnite anyway
Epic is basically Riot at this point (the Tencent blood is strong).
Take a concept people like -> Change it a little/make it more accessible -> Put your makeup all over it -> Expose it to your huge ecosystem -> Make money.
There's no problem when it's competition among big companies but it's f* up when they can ruin the business of a smaller company copying their work . Like how Epic tried to steal Among Us concept (eventually working with the dev after people backlash) or Riot making TFT in less than a year when DOTA autochess a game mode made by fans exploded in popularity and the devs decided to make their own game instead of working for Valve. People don't give a damn about the Auto Chess made by the creators of the genre but they sure know what TFT is.
It's still surprising that Tencent hasn't released a Helldivers copy yet. Maybe it's development times taking longer, maybe they know you need the right concept and is not as easy as putting an anime girl shooting hordes of enemies, maybe Tencent is in too many businesses with Sony so they don't want to F with them or maybe they just know the limit of a pure co-op PVE games vs PVP games, not the best bet when talking f2p the game needs to be really special to hit. Still a lot of opportunities ahead, 6 siege didn't get their chinese ripoff until 5 years after release LOL.
