It’s been over a year since we last got a look at GTA 6, and fans are driving themselves utterly insane convincing themselves a new trailer is due to drop on 27th December.
The obsession with the number ‘27’ started when Rockstar North employees started posting pics of the holiday swag they’d received from the company. In one photo, fans picked up on a note on the staffer’s coffee table, with various references to the number 27 included within.
It's since snowballed, with all sorts of nonsense theories flying around that allegedly corroborate the claims: developer Rockstar was supposedly founded on 27th December, 1998, for example; its Instagram account has 27 posts; the numbers 27 appeared in a hyperlink it shared on social media recently. Yeah.
We think some fans are taking the p*ss a bit, but another pulled various numbers out of the aforementioned GTA 6 trailer and calculated them in such a way that they “revealed” the date 27th December.
In all reality, this big brain thinking is a total figment of fans’ imagination, and while we suppose it’s not impossible for Rockstar to post a trailer later this week, it doesn’t feel particularly likely, does it? Officially, the game is still on track for release in 2025, so we should learn more soon regardless.

Yes - nothing says eyes on a trailer than launching it on possibly the sleepiest week in all gamedon. But sure.. it's possible - and maybe they figure there's nothing else on.... [that's sarcasm]
Wake me up when it's out.
All this post is utterly rubbish.
It all started from two Rockstar Devs from R* North, thay posted photos with new R* merch with GTA6 color scheme.
One posted Cat in a bag. Other posted Cat out of bag in background, and this guy has captured in photo paper with lot of numbers and hotel name in Florida which stated booking 27.12, Auto shop phone number "27Auto sales" on 27 road, etc
Maybe that is all just fun from those devs, but all that 27 numbers came after that theory just to extra "proove" 27 number meaning. Low quality post this is. Even for crazy theory
@Blauwe_Chimay I have the same mentality.
It’d be cool if there was another one, but I honestly don’t care. It’s not gonna make the actual game release any faster.
I know when the new trailer is coming out, it just requires someone to paypal me $27
Blue checks going nuts in the final week of the month. Unsurprising. Rent is due soon need the engagement.
How does one become a fan of something that doesn’t exist yet?
@Darude84 Oh come on, you don't have to be so petty. It's obviously refering to GTA fans that are looking forward to GTA 6
2027 release
So has Rockstar ever placed a hidden message in their trailers or tweets before? Because it seems to me that has never happened so I really don't know why people keep doing this to themselves.
Or maybe, because the devs suddenly see the opportunity they now create an advertisement to go out on the 27th - a 'R*oute 27' (I think I got that right - im from the UK) sign using ACTUAL in game graphics!!!!
Or maybe, maybe, because the CODE has been guessed and some people are getting silly they decide not to release what they were planning because it wont be so much of a surprise.
Or maybe....
I’ll never forget hearing about it for the first time! My school mate Phil came running up to us on the yard one morning.. “lads I’ve got this amazing game for the PlayStation! You have to complete missions and run gangs and you can steal police cars and go on a rampage and you can block off bridges with school buses” blah blah blah,”it’s called Grand Theft Auto”. Here we are nearly 30 years later and it’s only got to 6 I suppose you can’t rush perfection 👊 this is going to be mahoosive
Someone get the basement dwellers some beer, keep their minds off it for a wee while.
We're all going to be sick of hearing about this game by the time it does release.

@Nepp67 in the past I think so but with their recent releases (which is two in the last 11 years, not counting re-releases), simply no. They are cryptic with some GTA Online updates because they know their community will eat it up but other than that, they just drop when they are ready to.
When the 27th does come nothing happens. Those dwellers are going to be butt hurt.
@REALAIS Thanks, I updated with that additional info!
@Blauwe_Chimay wake up
@get2sammyb Merry christmas. I am grinch and very rude
Another good one was that the first sentence in the first trailer has 27 characters
No game can possibly live up to this amount of hype.
I remember when the world got this excited about Cyberpunk 2077, oh boy did that fall flat at first. I’ll temper my expectations to zero, despite being a fan of the franchise historically.
Here’s to hoping that the game is great!
I am sure there's more to their strategy than I know anything about, but it always strikes me as a little odd that companies don't take advantage of opportunities like this. I would think the smart move would be to drop the trailer on the 27th, even if they didn't plan to originally, just to encourage this kind of engagement and hype.
But then they probably have partnerships and tie-in deals and all sorts of stuff that mean these things must be predetermined.
This game is so overhyped 😅
it's impatience gamers' wishful thinking. I would be surprised if rpckstars actually release the second trailer.
Lmao!
Merry Christmas everyone.
It's really sad that this is the first GTA in 27 years I am not hyped for. The original game came out 27 years ago under DMA design. I was there for the Max Clifford stuff that was designed to get you to buy it and oh boy did it work.
This one is the first game without Dan and Sam Housers writing or involvement, and it will not be good.
Dan was 100% the Rockstar, all that is left is session players.
Half-Life 3 confirmed…
