“Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago,” Druckmann said. “In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.”
Naughty Dog’s not sharing any more information, but Druckmann promises it’s “creating an emotional, character-driven epic journey”. It’s not just making a movie either – as the studio is so often unfairly criticised for – as The Last of Us maker says the game will feature the “deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history”.
Even more excitingly, the soundtrack is being composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, so that’s going to be incredible.
Many fans noticed the abundance of product placement in the trailer, including a Porsche manufactured space ship, Sony CD player, and Adidas sneakers. We think this is all in service of the retro futuristic vibe.
It seems like classic 80s/90s anime , such as Cowboy Bebop and Akira – which was also filled with product placement, by the way – has played a key role in influencing the direction of this game, and we’re here for it.
“On behalf of the entire team at Naughty Dog, thank you to all our fans,” Druckmann said. “Your support allows us to work on our dream games, bringing these wonderful new worlds and characters to life. We can’t wait to show you more!”
Let’s hope we don’t have to wait too long, eh?
