Marvel Rivals, the free-to-play (super)hero shooter from NetEase, is set to arrive on 6th December on PS5, and it's hard not to get swept along by its ultra-stylish launch trailer.
It's not exactly representative of how the game plays, but this cinematic animation oozes style. Focusing on the large roster of characters available at launch, their designs look fantastic here as they show off their abilities to the upbeat theme song from Chrissy Costanza.
The game is similar to Overwatch in how it plays, with teams of players choosing from numerous characters, all with their own weapons and powers. We've been feeling quite mixed on Marvel Rivals; some of us are pretty excited for it, while others didn't have a great time with the beta test. Hopefully the final game will win everyone over.

After going gold recently, there's now just a few days to go before we can all hop in. Are you excited for Marvel Rivals on PS5? Choose your main in the comments section below.

Nah no excitement at all, rather play Balatro.
Comic nerd, here. I'm not really into this style of game, but it's free, so I'll certainly try it.
@KeldorTheCursed Really? You mean the gameplay or the art, because I think the art is outstanding.
@get2sammyb sorry, I meant the gameplay. It LOOKS great. I'm just not really into Overwatch/multi-player games of any kind, really. I like to play solo. But I'm interested in checking it out.
So hyped for this.
Love a good Fastball Special.
I'm all set thank you very much
Shouldn’t a “launch trailer” show, oh, I don’t know, actual gameplay, and not just be the opening game credits anime, which I’m assuming this is? That anime song is so anime it hurt my brain that the lyrics were in English and not Japanese.
I know very little about this game for a gamer guy who is really big into the MCU. My brain just can’t handle any more things Marvel or Star Wars with games coming out all the time on mobile and consoles, and sometimes only on Switch. Though I think that’s SW and not Marvel.
I played a lot of the Marvel card game on mobile and I still haven’t played the turn based game Midnight Sun I got free on the Epic game store. And I’m still playing Fortnite.
So this “launch trailer” releases giving not a clue as to what this game is. The article says ‘Overwatch”, and I do know what that is despite never playing it b/c it’s Overwatch, but I don’t see that in the trailer, at all. Like I don’t even know the basic is it first or 3rd person view b/c there is literally zero gameplay in this launch trailer.
As for the rest, is it like Avengers, or Suicide Squad, or Concord? This trailer ain’t saying. Oh well, at least I know it’s free, that’s something I guess.🤷🏻♂️
Edit: So I went back and watched the trailer again after having written all that so I had some questions to focus on in my mind, and I immediately muted it so as not to be distracted by the singing, and I still have no idea what this game is. This trailer could easily be for a season of Fortnite, or season 3 of What If?, or literally anything Marvel related b/c there is nothing even remotely game play in it. At all. 😩
Mildly interested in seeing what this is but that trailer is f*king horrendous
A marvel hero shooter and no Cyclops in the main roster?
It's free-to-play so I'll give it a shot when it releases. I don't really see myself getting super into it, but I guess we'll see.
@z0d15g0d I mean there's a lot of missing characters, but they need to have exciting ones to add later!
Haha, yeah... that music isn't getting me hyped for anything, except to turn down the volume.
And the art style? I don't know... turning Logan into some weird college jock, and whatever's going on with Hawkeye? Even less convinced than I was before, now.
@ztpayne7 I hope they do, and not just obscure ones for the sake of it. Would also be cool if they did a DC crossover event at some point like some moba's have done in the past but I doubt it.
@z0d15g0d yeah probably really unlikely. I feel like that would just add confusion. It’s probably way too early for them to even consider something like that
@Jrs1 that game is sucking up all my time on mobile
@aj21009 Same here lol and no matter what im playing on ps5 i cant switch the console off without gettin a run in 😀
@ztpayne7 You're right in thinking that it would probably never happen (too many hands wanting their own slice of the pie). They haven't done any Marvel x DC since the early 90's. Would have been nice to leave it up to fans and gamers to finally decide who was stronger Superman or Hulk.
