There's scope for even more Cyberpunk 2077 updates, based on what developer CD Projekt Red revealed during its latest livestream.
The open world RPG just got a brand new update — Patch 2.2 — despite the Polish company stating that it was basically done supporting the now four-year-old title.
Previously, CDPR had said that smaller improvements and additions might happen depending on how much development time is needed. Obviously, the teams that once worked on 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion have long since moved on to other projects, like the next The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077's sequel.

So how did Patch 2.2 happen? Well, this is where it gets interesting. CDPR actually outsourced this update to a separate developer called Virtuos.
Virtuos is a massive company made up of studios all over the world, and typically supports developers that are working on big budget games.
Virtuos producer Pauline Debroux was part of the aforementioned livestream, and she explained that her teams work on things like additional quests, levels, DLCs, art assets, and more.
Basically, Virtuos provided the manpower behind this new update, with CDPR overseeing its creation — and that's already got people wondering whether this is just the start of a patch-centric partnership.
For what it's worth, CDPR didn't specify if this is a one-off occurrence, or whether there are any plans for more updates. But again, it's an interesting thing to bring up and unpack on a public broadcast.
What do you make of this? Could you see Cyberpunk 2077 getting yet more updates in the future? Simply never leave Night City in the comments section below.

I would love a PS5 pro patch. Going to replay this game one of these days...
@BossBE That was my immediate thought: Pro patches for 2077 and Witcher 3. Would love 60fps with ray tracing (and maybe more than just RT shadows in 2077)!
Given that they just announced another anime… we’ll be seeing plenty of more updates/patches.
My cyberpunk 2077 hours played are so far 100+ on PC, 35 on PS4 Pro, and almost 400 on PS5. Time to add to the count on PS5 Pro after it’s done patching.
Pretty sure they have already said they had finished development on it. Then this patch came.
@themightyant as per the article, the patch was developed by Virtuos rather than CDPR. So CDPR have still finished development on the game by outsourcing future updates to another developer
@8bit4Life I take it it isn’t cross progression/save?
@x3King84
It is
My PS5 progression and saves transferred to my XBOX series X smoothly.
@kevinm360 I realise that. It was more that I thought they were done with updating the game in general, whether CDPR or Virtuos. Perhaps Virtuos will keep adding features.
@x3King84 I don’t know if the saves are cross-platform. My enjoyment of Cyberpunk 2077 came from multiple play throughs as both male and female V. There’s so much to see and the style of play with being a hulking brute or a stealthy netrunner keeps it interesting.
@notdead from Steam-PS5 and visa versa?
@x3King84
I wouldn't know as I have no Steam account.
But I think it should be compatible as well, check with others in advance just to be sure.
