Rejoice, fellow map-gazers: Firaxis' long-awaited Civilization VII is fast approaching and will be on us before you know it, arriving on PS5 and PS4 alongside PC on 11th February. Putting some final pieces of the puzzle into position, Civ VII has officially gone gold. Physical editions are now locked and loaded ahead of a first for the franchise, releasing day-and-date on consoles rather than the traditional method of the PC build marching in the vanguard.
The developers have been pumping out a fair bit of preview content over the last month, so if you're interested, there are a few trailers to catch up on. The most recent is a look at the incomparable Catherine the Great, which you can check out for yourself below.

Can you feel the growing anticipation for Civilization VII? Are you ready to agonise over every last decision and stay up far later than is strictly necessary? Promise yourself just one more turn in the comments section below.

Please be good. The game seems to be making bold changes and I hope they pay off.
Honestly very little of the Feb releases seem to be for me in particular. Maybe Pirate Yakuza but all the others look like they'll have performance issues at launch (MHWilds definitely coming in hot, don't trust KCD2, Civ games usually need some balance patches)
I’m so f**king ready. Yes I’m not that enamoured by the changes in this one and the Day 1 game is rarely perfect compared to a couple expansions down the line. But it’s more Civ. And my jammy little brother apparently pulled some Team Fortress hat or something worth 200 quid so we’re essentially getting the most expensive edition for nothing. Can’t say gambling doesn’t pay off nicely (I have no idea how this boy is surviving living alone at uni)
I've always loved all the different versions of Civ. I'll probably wait for a sale, but I imagine I'll partake
My creaky old MacBook Air can't handle this one, although it chugs valiantly through Civ VI. So I think I'll take advantage of the simultaneous console release until I can upgrade my hardware, and then I will inevitably double-dip. Given I own Civ VI (all content) on PlayStation, Mac and even Switch this is unsurprising behaviour. I love these games.
