Set to take place on the 1st to the 3rd of August, this year's Evo has confirmed its lineup of main games.
Eight titles will take centre stage, including Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which releases for PS5 and PS4 in April. SNK's latest will be joined by the usual heavy hitters (and the classic Marvel vs. Capcom 2!), which we've listed below.
Evo 2025 Main Games
- Street Fighter 6
- Tekken 8
- Guilty Gear Strive
- Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
- Under Night In-Birth 2 [Sys:Celes]
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Just in case you're totally out of the loop, Evo is the world's biggest fighting game event. The annual gathering attracts thousands of players, and racks up massive viewing figures across various streaming platforms like Twitch.
Several years ago, Evo itself was actually acquired by Sony, and so PlayStation is its primary sponsor. With that in mind, it's interesting that Xbox fighter Killer Instinct has made the cut this year — albeit as part of the 'extended' lineup.
It's also worth mentioning that Evo 2024 was gigantic; it smashed the record for most players in any esports event ever, and Tekken 8 — its first appearance at Evo — hosted the largest tournament in Evo history. It'll be interesting to see how this year's event compares.

Fatal fury as if it’s happening 😁
@Mikey856 ...What?
Anyway pretty sick lineup. I'm even happier knowing Killer Instinct will be there too just not on the main stage 🔥
I think I'll be most excited to see who takes home 1st in Tekken 8 this year. Generally I'm more of a Street Fighter guy but I'm really feeling T8 right now. I'm addicted lol
@Majin_Deicide you know… the new game?
@Mikey856 Which will be released before EVO this year.
@Mikey856 Yes I know about it, but I didn't quite get what you meant by "Fatal fury as if it’s happening".
MvC 2 in the main slot? Are Justin gonna compete again? 🤔
@Mikey856 It is happening. The game will release this April.
@GymratAmarillo I'm not sure if it's because loyalty between business partners. My guess is they keep MK to add some variety since currently it is the only fighting game made by western / american devs while the rest of lineup is from japan.
@GymratAmarillo With some of the rumors going around about the next Batman, it wouldn't surprise me if adding MK1 to the Evo roster was Sony doing them a favor.
As for KI I would to see come to PlayStation, it's up there with Halo MCC and Sunset Overdrive as my most wanted Xbox ports.
I Feel like Sony themselves should come out with their own fighting game they could buy the bloody roar IP off of Konami or bring back Battle arena toshinden and PlayStation all stars.
So glad Virtua Fighter will be at both Evo and Evo Japan!!
@PuppetMaster I’m darn near certain Justin Wong has retired from competitive tournaments, but you can still see him wreck shop on his YouTube channel. Dude is a LEGEND!
@Sarcasmatwork He's not fully retired. Back in 2023 he still compete at big tourney like EVO, CEO, online CPT, and some tier 3 tourney. And last year he won 3rd Strike at Thaiger Uppercut and CEO.
But yeah. He said he will focus more as youtuber and commentator since he doesn't have more time to practice.
@PuppetMaster I think these games were around when I was a lot younger so it’s just good to see it coming back 🤷♂️
@Mikey856 Yeah the last Fatal Fury was Garou: Mark of the Wolves back in 1999. It's two plus decades to get the sequel and now i'm feeling old lol.
@PuppetMaster tell me about it hahaha
