Released in 1997, DOOM 64 was developed and published by Midway Games and was considered the pinnacle of the series at the time, despite being a spin-off. Decades later, it was ported to PS4 in 2020 by Nightdive Studios and included as a pre-order bonus for DOOM Eternal. According to an updated ESRB listing, it now looks like it's coming natively to PS5.
The listing, spotted by GameRant, suggests that a reveal may be imminent. Submitting a title to the ESRB is one of the final tasks necessary to ship a game, and developers need to ensure that the associated label on the box is as accurate as possible. We can't imagine what major improvements it would feature, as the PS4 version, running on PS5, is already capable of a locked 60fps at 2160p; we suppose we shall just have to wait and see.

Love DOOM 64. Will gladly take an improved version. Hopefully it includes extra content and levels.
Doom 1 + 2 were rereleased by Nightdive w modding tools, etc. Maybe they are rereleasing Doom 64 with modding tools. Sounds good to me. I wonder if Unseen Evil had something to do with this, if anything I'm speculating is true.
How about a platinum that would be an improvement as the ps4 version doesnt have one
Best classic DOOM game. Loved it.
@Ralizah
Ultimate Doom (especially 4th episode), Sigil and every Doom 2 level that is not in the middle "city" section says hello! Doom 64 is crazy good though!
I'd play it again, especially if it's free like the recent doom/doom 2 upgrade. What a pleasant surprise it was when i played it for the first time on ps4, not only what felt like the real doom 3, but a spiritual successor to the ps1 doom, with its amazing soundtrack. It did away with the silly rock music which I always mute, and changed it to some brilliantly bizarre stuff, like babies crying in the background.
What a coincidence I was just watching an LP of DOOM 2016 and a classic DOOM review just yesterday
@WaveBoy YES!! MORE VR!
@Superstar74 It's similar to the PS1 soundtrack for Doom. PS1 was the first place I properly got to experience it, playing Final Doom on Christmas day and I really liked the ambient stuff. The first time I played a port of the PC game I was like WTF is the music. I love rock and metal but the old soundtrack doesn't do it for me, it just doesn't "fit" for some reason. Works in the Reboot and Eternal but I hate it in the originals.
Hopefully this is true, gives me an excuse to play it again. Loved it on the N64 (another Christmas 🎁 years ago) but it was a bit weird getting the controls to be fully useable on that weird pad.
Another big new old release for ps5. I'm so glad i got a ps5 pro to play quality games like this 🥱
