Phantom Blade Zero has looked brilliant ever since it was first announced in 2023, and although we're still eagerly awaiting a release window, we'll get to see more of this incredibly promising action title in the near future.
The news comes via the game's official social media accounts, which confirm that a new gameplay "deep dive" will drop next week, on the 21st January at 8pm PST (oof, that's 4am for us here in the UK).
"Witness an intense, unedited Boss Fight gameplay video that showcases our bold innovations and deep dive into crafting the ultimate melee combat experience," boasts developer S-GAME.
We previewed Phantom Blade Zero last year at Summer Game Fest, and came away very impressed indeed. The potential is abundantly clear.
We're crossing our fingers that we'll be hearing much, much more about Phantom Blade Zero over the coming weeks and months. If S-GAME can lock down a 2025 launch, the hype will be palpable.

When the hell is this game coming out? They revealed it like 3 years ago
I'm so hyped for this game, I hope the "rumour" about this being released in 2026 isn't true...
Game looks fantastic so i shell be watching, hopefully we get a demo nearer the release.
4am f@#k that, some of us have to work to pay for these things 😀
I’m mildly interested in this one. I still don’t quite know what type of game it is, based on the info we’ve gotten so far, so I don’t know if it’s for me, but it looks cool from an art standpoint. I definitely hope we get a demo.
This game looks cool especially with how the combat and the main character moves. But i'm not surprised since China had decades of fantastic track record of martial arts & Wuxia movies and tv shows. So China devs has plenty of material to use for character action games.
Love the Wuxia aesthetic going on here, so I've definitely got my eye on this game, but won't be sold until we get a closer look at the flow of the game as a whole.
Phantom blade zero gameplay look incredible.cant wait for more gameplay.word up son
They already said it releases in 2026.
One of the games I'm cautiously optimistic about
@somnambulance there are countless of online dev talks, SGF demos, hands on impressions etc on youtube
we have tons of info on this game
@snortnite I still don’t quite know how it plays. It’s definitely one of those types of games where I’ll need a demo to see if it’s for me personally. I hate to say it, but I’m sort of burned out of games that feel Souls-adjacent or Soulslike, and I saw Sekiro pop up a lot in the previews. But so did Devil May Cry, and that… that is the combat I prefer. I’m starting to get stingy again with my wallet, so bring on the demos for every game!
Is this the one that is due to get a demo soon or am I thinking about something else.
Game looks amazing but feels like I've been waiting for it forever. Article says it was announced in 2023 but it feels longer than that. Hopefully will be worth the wait, it looks that way so far.
@Weebleman I think you may be thinking of The first Berserker Kazan demo coming soon. I believe this already had one?
It looks okay kind of looks a little generic in terms of gameplay design and I really do hope they fix the balance issues because that Cannon weapon you can use in the game breaks it by infinitely staggering the mini boss and to be able to do that in the demo is pretty nuts.
Looking forward to it but I'll have to watch it in the morning because I'm definitely not staying up.
Loving these Asian developed games atm. Stellar blade, wukong and now this, oh yes please be as good!
I don't really believe anyone when they say "Innovation", especially Xbox or Microsoft that live on fantasy island in a dillusion that they're innovative in anything.
But, when they say we'll show you gameplay to demonstrate innovation, all I'm seeing is FromSoftware Demons Souls that spawned Dark Souls when they felt confident about the idea received by PlayStation fans that supported the idea but to get around the lab rat situation they had to make Dark Souls. There's just no loyalty anymore, different subject, but before FromSoftware, last I checked Team Ninja lay claim to that title of innovation as an evolution from their side scrolling and brutal gameplay of Ninja Gaiden became Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox. So, how is a Gaiden-Souls-like game going to be innovative? Just seems like another Gaiden-Souls-like game.
...... Or did Devil May Cry 3's punishing gameplay beat them both? (In terms of 3D, obviously Ninja Gaiden existed on the NES long before, but NES had NES hard anyway attributed to Mega Man, Ghosts N Goblins, and Castlevania that chewd you up and spit you out. Where does it all really begin, I honestly doubt it's starting with Phantom Blade 0
@Dodoo What the heck is all this lingo? ATM? IMO? Didn't they teach you spelling in school? Is this how people get around being embarrassed they're illiterate? Lucky for you, Google helps with that with predictive text. SPELL YOU FRIGGIN GEN Z'S! ENGLISH!
@neoxmahi haha sorry for ruffling your feathers and yes you are correct.
I’m definitely not illiterate and not gen z so have no excuse other than I was probably tired typing on my phone, being lazy. I will try harder as I do remember a time when that wound me up too! 🤣
@neoxmahi There is no Gaiden Soulslike. They're too different to be hyphenated together on a gameplay level. Nioh etc are very different to Souls etc.
GnG isn't as hard as the original Ninja Gaiden 3D games on Xbox so hardness didn't end on the NES.
