Sony and Honda’s forthcoming electric vehicle AFEELA comes with all kinds of innovative features, but the one that’s caught our attention is how it allows you to flaunt your Astro Bot fandom.
As part of a “themes” system – something the PS5 doesn’t even have – you can select from some of your favourite games, like the aforementioned Team ASOBI platformer and Ghost of Tsushima, and then have it display right throughout the vehicle and even on the front bumper.
Remember, the car has Remote Play functionality, as well as access to streaming apps like Spotify and Crunchyroll.
Okay, no one’s going to pay $89,000 for a car with an Astro Bot theme, and initial impressions from CES have been largely lukewarm at best, but it’ll be interesting to see where this project takes the Japanese manufacturer.
The electric vehicle segment is hugely competitive, so we’re curious whether it will be able to get its foot through the door. We think it’s going to be a tall order, but stranger things have happened – and at least it’s got the Game of the Year in its corner.

No Concord theme, no buy
Love it, day one pre-order for me. Would be cool if we could use dualsense edge to drive it.
@Czar_Khastik How original
Edit: I got a 3 day ban for this comment for "trolling".....WTF?
How’s the haptic feedback? Are the brakes intelligent? I want to feel like I’m rocketing to the moon as I gently break for the zebra crossing
I'd consider one if the steering wheel had haptics, the brake and accelerator pedals had adaptive triggers, and it played the PS5 main menu ambiance.
A Daytona USA theme would make me spend 100k if it meant people would know it’s me coming down the streets when they hear the song
Probably still better than one of the explosive Muskmobiles lol
I like the car to be honest. I’m just not a huge electric car embracer.. I would have one as a second car. It’s nicer than most electric cars when looking from the technology and the functionality standpoint.
But yes 100k for a car is really too much to ask for an electric car that is meant to be an everyday vehicle.
Chevrolet Silverado RST EV and
Hummer 1st Edition both have 3 motors and the offering a lot more horsepower/ torque. The Chevrolet driving 440 miles on a charge.
Those are in $100k range which still is a lot to ask for.
@bankenrepublik Thanks, took me some time
@dimi we all saw what happened last time someone controlled a vehicle with a game controller
I'd never have an EV as a daily driver. They are huge insurance liabilities and hatefulky expensive to fix. Even with quick chargers it still takes 1000% longer to "fill up". It is a cool looking ride though lol.
Ive got an ev i paid over 80k for and its been worth every penny. (Ive another luxury gas suv as well for my wife)
I love evs not so much for cost, but for convenience and comfort. I never charge outside, just go. So no gas station visits and fewer maintenaince calls(though tires wear a lot faster)
If this turns out to actually be a solid vehicle(ie good range, quick, super quiet, high tech, and extremely comfortable) id have no issues paying 90-100k for one.
That said, there is a lot of competition for my money and the bmw, cadillac, and audi offerings are all solid. (The mercedes is too ugly, hummer akward looking)
@Nyne11Tyme Depends on your driving habits. 99% of my driving for a day is in city and under 200 miles, so i target 300 mile range vehicles to get a buffer so i never have to charge outside of my home. My second car is always a gas or phev and when we go on trips its the go to.
lol electric cars
Initially I was interested to see where the Sony Honda Mobility union would go, but Engadget have a pretty damning bit about the AFEELA... something about it costing more than a Lucid Pure, looking bland, charging slower than a Lucid Pure and having less range, referring to it as a vehicle launching 5 years too late to be relevant.
