Rumour: Halo: The Master Chief Collection Coming to PS5 This Year

I saw the headline without reading the rumour part and i was like 😳

I have it on PC but my mate wouldn't mind replaying the good Halos again, and if this is true and it has crossplay I'll be in heaven.

This would be a huge boon to Microsoft. Halo would sell like hot cakes.

I'll believe it when I see it, but if true, I'll be getting the MCC day one for sure. Played Reach and Halo 4 like a fiend back in college.

I would buy the hallo collection and oblivion remake lol hoping to see the fable 1 remaster and gears collection ported as well.

Coming to PS5 is great but actually, these games on Switch 2 really appeals

I find halo quite boring but will happily take flight sim and elder scrolls!

Loved Halo 1-3. Played a bit of reach and didnt like it much. Never played 4. Can we have the RTS Halo game please?

As a 1st time Xbox owner, not sure how i feel, still reluctant to buy games for Xbox

Not only that, but imagine MP player number huge boost if, of course, there will be crossplay and PS5 and Switch 2 versions.

He also confirms that the Final Fantasy VII remake titles will no longer be PlayStation exclusives.

As someone who has never played the Halo games, this will be a day 1 purchase for sure.

Never owned an Xbox or high end PC. Just every piece of Playstation and Nintendo hardware.

I'll buy MCC and Oblivion remake to rekindle fond Fat+360 memories. Flight simulator not my jam though.

@CallMeDuraSouka easiest way is to have a ps5 and a series S.

Utilise the S for first party games (they run well in general) and for any GP titles you want to play.

Use the ps5 for the ‘blockbuster’ titles that need the power rather than the S. and obviously Sony first party stuff. Win win!

Never liked Halo but I'd buy the three Fables in a heartbeat.

@ED_209 they never were, the games are on pc. If you mean console exclusive, SE is receiving money from MS since 2023, the switch was unable to run the games. It was just a matter of time but don't worry, given Sony has a contract for those games SE is either paying them a piece of sales or compensation to release the game in other consoles.

I have fond memories of playing Halo 3, ODST, Reach and 4. Split screen campaign with my younger brother was a big part of that! I never touched true online mulitplayer but instead was all local with family and friends.

I would buy that collection day 1.

Not really interested in any of these - in fact I dont think I have bought an Xbox studios game yet (well since PS5 at least). Might try Hi Fi Rush if I see it on a deep enough sale as Im not 100% sure the game is for me.

If I had bought a Series X this gen instead of PS5 I would have been P***** seeing all this though!

I played most of the MCC in 2023 when I had a Series X and honestly, these games are largely dated.

I'm not questioning their standing or the magnitude of how influencial they are, rather they're old and it shows (not being able to ADS in the older games was a genuine LOL moment for me). Combat Evolved will have released a quarter of a century ago in 2026.

This would be an easy day one buy, those multiplayer games on halo 3 are some of my favourite memories of gaming

If MS goes multiplatform, the lack of competition will likely give Sony less incentive to make amazing exclusives on a regular basis.

Day one for me if true. Also, these games will sell so much. I can’t even imagine the profit from it.

343 couldn't get crossplay between PC and Xbox for campaigns to work (Halo 3 and ODST campaign crossplay still "experimental" since March 2022, ) so I hope they can finally fully implement it for all platforms when it gets ported everywhere.

The thought of playing Gears and Halo with haptics, adaptive triggers, and parallel sticks is delicious.

I see Flight Simulator as the most PC of PC games so I’m not sure I see it on PS5 as moving any type of needle, less of a big deal than Minecraft to me.

Halo MCC is over a decade old, 2014, so, yay?

I do think the Oblivion remake could be nice if it gets completely remade like FF7 but if it’s just a remastered port I’m not too excited about that either.

PC, Xbox and PS5 are basically all just the same hardware at this point, when Nintendo starts porting Mario and Zelda games then that will be very interesting indeed. Probably not in my lifetime though.🤷🏻‍♂️

Day one for me!!! I wanted to play my old halo games on the 360 this last fall but I can't find my adapter. So I am ready to jump back in. But will I need a Microsoft account to play online?

@stinkyx Unfortunately for Microsoft, it appears many gamers switched to PlayStation, want Microsoft games, but don't want to buy the Xbox to play them.

The idea of "if you want to play Microsoft games, then buy an Xbox" didn't work.

No one noticed in the UK how Xbox console stock is not being restocked both consoles.
Currys no stock online and in store.
Game no s stock at all only a few x.
Smyths toys no online stock at all, most stores no x or s stock.
Argos running low for delivery to certain areas.
Amazon from Amazon UK, no stock of any, advising maybe 1 to 3 months.

No trillion dollar company lets this happen by accident.
Why are Microsoft letting stock run dry.

@BaldB3lper78 Agreed. I'd kill for Halo and Rare Replay on Switch (and Half-Life). For me personally, Halo on Playstation is effectively no different from Halo on Xbox (multiplat gamer), so I couldn't really care less.

It would be cool to play Halo with my Playstation buds, admittedly.

The way Microsoft's messaging has been since the multiplatform rumours exploded in February last year and Nintendo announced 2 of the 4 initial batch, it has felt very much that Switch 2 reveal was a key part of the Xbox multiplatform strategy.

So all those years of publishers and media outlets throwing the term "Halo killer" around were for naught?

Great for PS5 and Switch 2 players but once Halo releases on any console other than Xbox, the brand is irreversibly dead.

Oooh I would love Flight Simulator in PSVR2, probably never happen but hey ho, Halo will be good though! Easy money for MS, looks like a win win for everyone!!

I don't I have the words to properly describe how excited I'd be to play Halo on a Playstation. It's still the best FPS out there imo. Getting to play it on my console of choice would just be incredible.

Of the three games, I'm only really interested in the one that isn't really a Microsoft game.

Never understood the big fuss about Halo, I've tried to get into them multiple times but just couldn't. They feel too arcadey and the open world section of the last game was just so bland and boring.

If this is true and ever does happen, Xbox itself might as well be dead and just go the Sega route. I’m not completely against Xbox or anything, I have a 360, but I just don’t see much incentive to play the One or that horribly named “Series” console. Even my brother uses his One to pretty much use for streaming services exclusively.

I understood MS were depleting stock from many Middle East and European countries but I wonder if that’s extending to the uk too! Would be very surprised but who knows what MS are planning these days.

The UK after the USA is the second highest country on Xbox console sales as well.

If and when halo master chief collection come on ps5 oh you best believe a lot more will come.no game is safe for Microsoft not to be on ps5.ps5 is good and beyond.word up son

I might try the collection. Never really got on with Halo. Coming from Dom and Quake etc, it just all felt so “flowery” and low impact. Maybe my views would have changed.

Hopefully there will be a plat for every game and no online requirements.

@thefourfoldroot1 they don’t want people to buy this and not play online. Just check the achievement list if you’re interested. There are 700 achievements for it.

Also the MCC itself is one “game” where you can queue up a level from Halo 3 followed by a level from Halo 1 if you want to. So it could just be one platinum.

@Toot1st Lmao sure, in PC everyone uses Steam, their Cloud Gaming still sucks and 90% of their GP subscribers are from console. Microsoft can tell themselves all they want, the fact is that the bulk of their audience is/was on consoles and they’re effectively nuking it.

They’re about to become completely dependent on Sony and Nintendo just to be able to sell games, which is both pathetic and ironic, great for Sony and Nintendo tho.

@CallMeDuraSouka why would you be reluctant to buy games for a machine you have? It's not like they're gonna stop working. Games like MCC isn't going to be better on PS5, they'll be the same as the machine you have.

Hope it's true. I'd be buying it. Want Hellblade 2, halo infinite, any Forza horizon games and the ori games too

No interest in Halo anymore. Had my fill years ago with the origional trilogy and found them to be alright shooters at best with bullet sponge enemy.

@aj21009 If PS is your preferred platform and you see the multiplatform signs of Xbox, doesn't it make most sense to hold off buying games on Xbox in case they come to PS?

That way you get the games on your preferred system without having to double dip.

Its coming consoles wars have died now and Microsoft new vision is to have Gamepass on every device it can and every game it can on those devices for all to play

I still love replaying Halo campaigns and leave a series s at my parents to play with dad and brother when i visit. PS5 i could actually get a group for multiplayer then

I would really want to play them. Never played a Halo game in my life (never had any Xbox system), and was always intrigued by that universe, as a friend of mine play those games. If it realy comes, I will get it!!

The Master Chief Collection is a great collection of actual Xbox games. I highly recommend checking it out if you have the opportunity to do so.

Cool, hope it is true, however I would love to see the Ori games and State of Decay for PS5.
