Reported around the time of the hardware's launch back in November, those lingering PS5 Pro image quality issues in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have allegedly been fixed. Developer Respawn Entertainment has pushed out a patch specifically aimed at outstanding technical problems, such as flickering in the volumetric fog, and an update to "the latest PSSR version".
Along with reduced foliage flickering and improved reflections on Koboh River, that's all update 1.000.013 does (thanks, MP1st). It doesn't appear to be coming for PS4, which is an entirely different kettle of fish with its own set of issues. As the patch hasn't popped for PC or Xbox Series X|S, this one does seem like a special something for the strange issues afflicting the PS5 Pro alone.
Are you glad Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was included on PS5 Pro? Have you played it yet? Let us know how you like it in the comments section below.

Going to play through it again, was really fun and I'm hoping up for a hopeful Star Wars Celebration tease.
Looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy.
I completed Jedi Survivor on PS5 Slim some weeks ago.
While I had a great time with it, it was often rough and is still far from patched out.
They could have done so much more with the Pro patch for this game.
All they did was add back in the RT from the launch version, which is barely visible anywhere except around the streams on Koboh (which killed performance at the time, but thankfully Pro can handle it), and added a messed up implementation of PSSR.
What they should have done is used the additional GPU to add to the pre upscale pixel count, then use a well implemented PSSR.
This game screams out for a better image quality, not for a few reflections and barely visible lighting changes.
SWJS is literally the game that stopped me preordering anything but Sony games until a Demo or DF etc prove the performance.
It is a brilliant game which IMO improves on the 1st in pretty much every way even if the mini map is still a bit of a pain! Can't wait for the 3rd.
Gah, this makes me want to replay this as I now have a pro, but not enough time for all the games I want to play...
Im up for a replay of this, loved it and i just missed out on a platinum because of a decision at the end
One of the worst studios at optimising games fixes the PSSR issue they were having?
Good signs for everyone, right?
The third game might be a bit more playable on the PS5 Pro nearer to launch than all the other versions that are forced out too quick, too 😅
@breakneck generally good to rather delay a game and have it more polish. Though I must say, I played both fallen order on ps4pro and survivor on ps5 very early after release and never considered them that buggy. I remember having worse issues with Witcher 3, months after release. I must also say, looking past nostalgia goggles, old games were also buggy and janky oftentimes and that was unchangeable. Nintendo has always delivered the most polished games however.
Having just finished (and absolutely loved) Sar Wars Outlaws, maybe I'll now go back to this.
I'm much more into immersive worlds than many, which may explain why I loved Outlaws so much. I found survivors settings were empty and lifeless and clearly simply designed to serve the gameplay mechanics of the title. Fortunately the gameplay is excellent, but I was hit by bugs and then they gimped the whole game with a untested pro patch that sucked, so I stopped playing.
I hope they have fixed more bugs as well as fixing the pro options, as I'd like to finish it this time!
I think I need to play Intimate Wealth first or I might get tired of Star Wars (took me 120 hours to finish Outlaws).
I’ve been playing it on the Pro on and off for a few weeks now. Just went back to clean up for the Platinum.
I ran into this flickering at random times and the only way to fix was to restart. Played last night and it didn’t run into it.
I forgot how annoying collecting for the Platinum is on these Jedi games. I’ve been getting flashbacks of the map from the first one. Haha.
Updating to the latest version of PSSR is interesting. Wonder if this will be rolled into other games and what affect it will have.
Was one of my favorite platinums, really fun game.
Got the platinum last week. Absolutely brilliant series! And it looked great on my Pro back then. I’ll boot it up again just to see if there’re marked differences.
Kinda OT. Nothing is as beautiful as God Of War: Ragnarok on PS5 Pro! NOTHING!
Pro downgrade lasted shorter than PS4 counterpart? How could this be..
They cooked. 👏👏
Saw people on Twitter commenting that the flickering was still there, reduced but still present, so i guess they're (EA) at least being honest lol
I put off getting it because of the image quality issues, when they announced a Pro patch I was hoping it'd sort the issues out. When I saw it actually made it worse I was disappointed. Hopefully Digital Foundry test the patch and if it's cleared up the issues I might finally give it a go.
The foliage flicker is still there after the patch. Check Reddit or twitter to see others saying the same with videos of it.
@Rich33 “What they should have done is used the additional GPU to add to the pre upscale pixel count, then use a well implemented PSSR.” - What you describe is what the Jan patch is doing, literally.
@Vince_Virtua
This is a fairly old article so I may be a bit patchy remembering.
The original Pro patch might of increased pre upscaler resolution a little bit, but if it did, it wasnt much, or near enough. Instead they used nearly all the extra GPU in adding back in the almost pointless RT they originally had in the base version at launch - which they removed about 6 months later because on base PS5 it killed performance (fps) to the point of being completely unplayable. They also added a bad implementation of PSSR.
The Jan patch updated PSSR to the later version, but im pretty sure DF said they hadnt touched pre upscaler res, and RT was still forced on.
What they should have done is left RT off in the 1st Pro patch / removed it again in the Jan patch, and used all the extra GPU power to significantly increase pre upscaler resolution (before using PSSR to upscale to 4k).
The image quality in this game is awful, and RT is almost pointless outside of the koboh river, so why they decided to waste the extra power Pro gave them on RT instead of fixing the image quality I dont have a clue.
Properly implemented PSSR alone, as good as it is when used well, can only do so much at these low resolutions.
