You can add Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to the mounting pile of games that somehow perform worse on PS5 Pro than on Sony's baseline hardware. The engineers at Digital Foundry put the game's alleged PS5 Pro-enhanced patch through its paces and came away unimpressed. While RT reflections are cool and all, this technical aspect is overshadowed (pardon the pun) by "severe image quality problems" across the board.
Digital Foundry kicked the tyres in exacting detail across an exhaustive 25 minutes, determining that the culprit appears to be Sony's fancy new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) tech. We don't think the image is supposed to have that kind of strobing inconsistency; while not immediately apparent, it's hard not to notice once you see it.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has struggled with performance issues since launch, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that issues continue to persist. Did we mention the current version of the game has already been patched for PS5 Pro?
What's going on with the rollout of PS5 Pro? Several developers could have used more time testing their enhancement patch; perhaps they felt pressure to be ready for launch. Let us know your thoughts on the entire affair in the comments section below.

Not a good look for the pro so far.
Luckily my plays of hogwarts legacy and stellar blade have looked good despite encountering a bug in stellar blade preventing quests to unlock they have run very well regardless.
Well the PS5 Pro users ARE the beta testers of PSSR xD I guess this will all be resolved by PS6
So the pro has actually broken games 😬
Everything I’ve played so far has been sweet to be honest
Didn't this game run poorly on high end PC too?
It is a terrible look however you slice it.. This console has exactly one selling point. If it does not do that then...
The 700$ Premium experience!
Only for enthusiasts
Star Wars outlaws is incredibly disappointing on pro too, with worse image than the base PS5 quality mode. Doesn’t even hit a consistent 60fps either.
I expected still having the choice between Quality and Performance when I got a Pro. Didn’t think I’d actually have to choose between Pro or base PS5 on certain games
Ah the joys of new tech...
It'd be lovely if everything worked straight out the box but that's very rarely the case.
PC players encounter this stuff all the time. One random update or new piece of hardware and stuff that had been working seamlessly for a decade is suddenly more broken than ever.
A bit frustrating but I'm sure it will be fixed in due course the same as DLSS got better and better with time.
@Oram77 It does.
This game has really poor image quality that noticeably shimmers on Pro that is completely absent on the base console. So not only does it not meet expectations from the Pro, it's noticeably worse than the experience on base console.
@Loamy 😂 yeah I’m getting a similar feeling
@Wario_Waha and yet you post on a playstation centric website
@Wario_Waha have you ever heard of Nintendo?
Watched the DF Alan Wake 2 video yesterday and the same issues. PSSR needs some serious work when it's more comparable to FSR2 than DLSS
As an owner of the launch digital console and with my TV being without OLED, 120 hz, and VRR, I cannot find enough reason to switch to PS5 Professional.
Also, I have subbed to EA Play and will therefore play Jedi Survivor at a patched state looking better than the Pro-version. All for the price of 1 dollar. Also, bundled in are FIFA 25, Deadspace and Immortals of Aveum.
I am happy - and my wallet is full
@Medic_alert I think that's the point... people generally play console to avoid many of these issues. And yes, if you want a niche console, expect there to be teething issues (especially when there is likely not a lot of additional sales for the game devs/publishers).
Two systems isn't a huge extra complication, and I'm sure many of these issues will get resolved. It will be interesting to see how quickly these issues bed down, and to understand why some devs are finding PSSR more challenging...
@Loamy Very true, any negative pro stuff and the paupers will jump right on it here 🤣
Guys, this is literally an unfair comparison when it took them 11 months or so to downgrade a PS4 rendition, versus just a meagre of 2 weeks to downgrade the PS5 Pro version. 🍿
I'd say let them cook~
Sony should dictate good developer practices to take advantage of the new hardware or articles like this will be coming nonstop leaving a bad taste to their product and those who paid for it.
@Wario_Waha just like every tech company that releases a product u sitting here like Sony only greedy One lmao u people are funny every company greedy don't sit there like Xbox or Nintendo is any better
@Wario_Waha Why are you here? LMAO!
A bad patch, from a dev team that have so far with this game proved to be incompetent.
DF (similar to on their review of AW2 performance mode) called out that the devs had not focused on what they should have (ie resolution pre upscale), and I think it was this game that they questioned QA. They also mentioned persistent issues with stuttering on top spec PC - so a good time all round with this one.
A couple of bad implementations, considering all the really improved games I have seen and played isnt exactly going to change my opinion.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare yeah but the ps5 launched with a load of crashing issues, the Xbox series consoles had features that didn't work out the box, the Switch had and still has Joy-con issues, Steamdeck launched in a pretty poor state with the OS not really fit for purpose and the list goes on.
The machines are more complex, the games are more complex and they can all be updated in people's homes. So the money men can insist on a release date and testing can be dialled back to save money while error reports are collected from early adopters.
It is all about rubbish and I'm not defending it, it just is the reality of the business these days.
If people need to avoid it, then hold off new stuff for 3 to 6 months when most of it should be fixed.
@Mikey856
"Have you ever heard of Nintendo?"
Yeah, he/she has... just take one look at their bio / comments history.
(No sarcasm aimed at your good self)
I’m thinking unless Sony can really nail PSSR in its development kits, and make it work better for game conversions to its platform, they may find third party games consistently perfuming worst in some cases then on the base PS5 with FSR as FSR is far more widely used.
But PSSR is really in development on the PS5 Pro in preparation for PS6, lots of work ahead for Sony.
So it seems that if devs want there game to run the best on the pro, they have to release a patch to resolve any issues , is this right? If so , this could cause serious problems for any future games, and surely it falls on Sony then ?
This game was originally released as one of the most buggiest games ever and people here in the comments blame the console and not the developers of the game lol
@Medic_alert I delayed getting the PS3, PS4 and PS5 by (at least) a year so the early adopters could do all the bug reporting before I jumped in.
Admittedly, the PS3 went through a tricky phase with the PS Store going on line with untested firmware updates trashing the hard drive.
Conversely, the PS4 has been as sweet as a nut (and the Pro actually improved all games!)
The PS5's roster of exclusives has been disappointing, but the main problem is the joke Driftsense controllers which still break, whereas the DS3 and DS4 controllers I have are still going strong after over a decade of far more use.
@Wario_Waha Yeah so about Nintendo's underpowered even for release in 2017 tablet that was profitable from day one and has barely changed in price since...
Or Microsoft's disc-drive-less Series S with 350GB of useable storage that is sometimes outperformed by last gen machines.
So where do you get your gaming kicks these days? Because PC hardware ain't cheap either.
@sanderson72 Conversely, I've had zero drift with the Dualsense (as a day one owner), but lost two Dualshock 4s to it.
Pretty sure they use the same analogue module anyways, so both of our cases are little more than dumb (bad) luck.
I've not encountered any issues with Star Wars yet. In fact the difference between my OG PS5 and the Pro has been night and day. On the OG the image was always soft and had that vaseline look, the colours were washed out and the game felt unresponsive. On the Pro the image is sharp, colourful, and has none of that vaseline smudge. The whole game feels way more responsive as well.
The only graphical weirdness I have seen so far is some shimmering on the edge of textures in Veilguard. Especially where objects intersect with water.
This is still on the developers, if PSSR is having issues upscaling from such a low resolution, then the devs themselves can see this, so why implement it?
All this proves is what we've seen for years, in that no hardware can overcome devs doing a mediocre job, or seemingly Unreal engines constant issues
Taking the PSSR.
Clearly the issue is that Sony don’t seem to be checking patches properly, and devs are just rushing them out (perhaps under pressure by, or with incentive from, Sony?)
@Skeletor85 Well when it runs better on the OG PS5 then the pro according to DF, then what do you expect? If Sony didn’t release the Pro the game would not need to be patched to work with Sony’s proprietary upscaling system. It is up,to devs to release the patch though I’ll give you that.
@cuttlefishjones Washed out colours and unresponsive controls scream your screen and/or console's output not being set up correctly.
@cuttlefishjones yeah, I’m sitting here confused too because I did a comparison running the game on my son’s PS5 vs. my Pro and the Pro looked much better. Textures were immaculate. Maybe their eye is just better trained than mine.
Another great example of the PlayStation Spectral Shimmer Resolution 🤠
@MrPeanutbutterz - The PS5 Pro was connected to an M32U 4K monitor and is now connected to an Odyssey G9 OLED, both of which show very good colour accuracy in other games and on my PC(s). HDR has always been a bit of pain to get the balance right (which is why I swapped to the G9). But either way the colours are brighter and less washed out with the Pro than they were with the OG.
You had one job!
Can half of the comment section please confirm if I get them right:
So Sonys Hardware has to "repair" broken games? Shouldn't the Devs be blamed first for putting g out half baked patches for half finished games instead of blaming Sony first?
Yeah, yeah....the game was PERFECT and Pro console broke it. Really???🤦🏻♂️
Incompetent / lazy developers. Simple as that
Well, given that I didn't buy a pro to solely to play this game, I'm really unfussed by the news. Not sure why anyone with a balanced perspective on things would somehow see it as proof of anything other than a dev issue.
As far as I'm concerned it's good to hear the negatives as well as the positives.
@EfYI Oh yes, I can't imagine spending that kind of money (really for any PS5 upgrade) in that situation. I'm happy with it myself, but it's definitely situational and a "maybe" recommend based on use! More than enough good to be had with the regular PS5.
@Wario_Waha i recently left too. Saved up and got a Steam Deck instead of a PS5 Pro. Best decision I've made in years.
God, is Sony any more of a joke?
It'll be addressed, resolved, yes.
But this has been in development since the PS5 was launched, we had games probably not being worked on as much as Pro would launch.
Then we get a $700 discless, no stand, no EDGE controller...
And now games perform worse?
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
Well, now I can DEF see the advantages and seems like I didn't even need a 120hz super Oled display after all...
Def worth the buy, selling my base PS5 right away.
@sanderson72 My 2nd DS got drift already. I'm going to invest some cash in getting both on hall effect modules, to eliminate drift once and for all. It just adds to the absurd greed, they have the tech for over a decade. DS3 had hall effect modules. You can go all out on an DS EDGE and STILL no hall effect, just because more money for them.
@LifeGirl Far more games run and look better then those that don't. Jedi Survivor was pretty bad on PS5 and SX and is still bad on PC so is it a bad look for them? Like always not everything will run and look perfect, the Pro isn't magic it requires the Devs to put in the work as well. Stellar Blade, Spidey 2, SW Outlaws, Rebirth and more are hard proof on what the Pro can do.
@Whately86 Yeah its Sony's fault Respawn can't do a good job with the game. Is it Sony's fault that the game still has issues on high end PC's as well?
@LifeGirl It only looks bad for Sony from a outside perspective. The real culprit is the developer's implementation of the update. There are a lot of games, updated or not, that run far better on the Pro. If you hop into the PS5pro subreddit you will see that a good portion of the users are quite impressed with the results (you kinda also have to have a high end display for a lot of this to actually matter).
@LifeGirl If anything it makes Ubisoft look the worst and confirms many people's stereotypes about them being a bunch of talentless hacks who just copy and paste their formula everywhere.
For those wanting to play the blame game, I think it's on both Respawn an Sony. The problem is caused by PSSR. Silent Hill 2 has similar significant problems with it. However, even games that mostly look ok with it have visual artifacts on some surfaces.
According to an unverified developer account, there are multiple "versions" of PSSR. Earlier versions have these issues.
It's entirely possible that these developers were promised by Sony that the implementation of PSSR they were using would be fixed on the system side with a firmware update...and then it never was.
It's also possible that Sony did not promise such a thing and these developers "turned on" PSSR without verifying whether it looked good in all areas of their games. That said, Sony still shares some blame for making a "so broken/underbaked that no one should really use it" version of the tech available to developers to implement.
It is not hard to believe that Sony incentivized developers one way or another to have Pro enhancements available for the Pro's launch and this has backfired, leading to bad Pro versions.
The (second) worst part of this is simply the lack of acknowledgement and communication from Sony or developers. I work in business software dev, simply giving the customer a "yup we know about it and are working on it" does wonders for customer satisfaction and is never harmful as long as you're not lying about the "working on it" part.
-edit-
In retrospect, the lack of communication isn't actually the worst part. The actual worst part is that in several of the games, Jedi Survivor included, you can't revert to to base PS5 version of the game. So even if you're willing to forego the Pro "enhancements" to play the regular version of the game without visual bugs, you cannot. That I would say was extraordinarily shortsighted on the part of developers, especially if the scenario was that that PSSR issues were known, but Sony promised they'd be fixed. You never trust promises from outside companies. They should have made the Pro mode a togglable option.
Oddly enough this is a game I saved to play on the pro. I haven’t had any issues but I didn’t play it on the base to say otherwise. I’m not defending the pro because I haven’t been wowed by it yet, but I think the main issues is the game itself. It suffers from the same problem ff7 has. The first one looks great and then the sequel blew out the environments and now the game runs and looks ugly. Except the more linear man made areas which do look nice. I got it with ea play for .99 so I’m not too butt hurt about it, I’ll finish it and move on.
@DennisReynolds Oh, so sorry to hurt your feelings with my comment. I didn't notice that jedi Survivor was the ONLY game that had ANY issue with PS Pro. Absolutely all other games are def worth it.
Oh, wait. This article here might indicate I might be wrong....
"You can add Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to the mounting pile of games that somehow perform worse on PS5 Pro than on Sony's baseline hardware"
Hmmm, but Sony's just an innocent company that bleeds money to give us what we want for the fairest price possible. We must defend them blindly at all costs.
@Whately86 What's the mountain pile? Notice how a list of them was never mentioned? Its because it would be a pretty short list. Dragons Dogma 2 and Alan Wake 2 may have issues on the Pro but they still look and perform better on the Pro and the issues they have can be easily be fixed. The majority of games with a Pro patch look and run better and that's a fact, Horizon FW was even compared to a high end PC game by John from DF because its that good. Then you have games without a pro patch running and looking better as well like Elden Ring, Metaphor and GT7 that is now locked at 4K/120fps.
@DennisReynolds Ask PushSquare, it's their statement. Thanks.
"You can add Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to the mounting pile of games that somehow perform worse on PS5 Pro than on Sony's baseline hardware"
But hey, 5 seconds checking this same site and I have a few links for you:
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/11/disgruntled-ps5-pro-owners-campaign-to-disable-support-after-slew-of-shoddy-patches
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/11/konami-quiet-as-ps5-pro-players-report-issues-with-silent-hill-2
The Pro is obviously a great success and was finely tuned to give their owners nothing but the absolute best possible. SWI 2024 trophy has a winner (Super Worth It).
@DennisReynolds Ohhh, sorry. Just finished reading. Since it's a short list, it means it's super ok and not an issue at all. Thanks for helping me see that. Now I believe $700 is actually dirt cheap for everything the pro is (not) delivering. I'm not back at defending Sony at all costs.
@DennisReynolds There are visual artifacts to varying degrees of severity in all games that use PSSR, and some games are straight up busted. Silent Hill 2 remake is another one with major issues. Most of the games don't have major issues, but at the same time, ideally there should be nothing about a game that looks worse than a base PS5. The issue that manifests most commonly is shimmering on the edges of specular surfaces (metallic surfaces). Pro games shouldn't look better in most aspects, but worse a in few. There should be no tradeoffs.
PSSR is seemingly underbaked tech - hopefully they can sort it out, but right now it's very disappointing. Sony perhaps should have stuck with just making the console faster and giving it more RT performance and not introducing a feature that is completely unavailable on the base model - specifically because of the likelihood that developers will not go to the effort to well utilize a feature that only a fraction of the market has - as has been well established by history. Adding a new capability to the Pro instead of just making it faster may very well prove to be major blunder.
Right now I'm actually hoping that developers don't try to use PSSR and I just get a slightly higher base resolution or more consistent performance on a Pro.
@Sweetz It seems to me that they just don't care enough anymore and they don't need to anyways. Specially because there will be thousands making up excuses for this to be acceptable. Why not develop this tech the right way to apply it with an actual game changer addition through PS6? Because they can milk it now.
PS4 Pro had 4K, it was a game changer at the time and not releasing would represent lost of revenue and opportunity. PS5 Pro just seems like they didn't even push the bas to it's heights. To compare where ps5 is now and where ps4 was when they had their pro versions released, it's staggering.
@Whately86 Yeah PQ love causing uproar in the comments section and its why they make questionable statements like that. DF and GamingTech the two best sources on gaming tech though are way more positive and actually know what they're talking about so i would rather go by what they say. PQ say a mountain but that so called mountain isn't even double digits. Lets be over generous and say 9 games have problems on Pro well the list of Pro supported games is 80+ so not a bad turn out is it? Lord's of the Fallen struggles with 60fps on base PS5 but on Pro its pretty much locked 4K/60fps. No Man's Sky is 4K/60fps on Pro and holds it more often then not.
@Sweetz DLSS had problems at the start as well. 4090's should always be above consoles yet that's not always the case. Devs have to put in the work as well, PSSR and DLSS aren't magic.
@cuttlefishjones Thanks for your sharing your impressions, mate. Can I ask if you play in Fidelity or Performance mode ?
My understanding is that there is still a fidelity mode at 30 fps, but with even more Ray Tracing, and a new performance at 60 with some RT.
And I don't know if the problem they're mentioning concerns "Fidelity" or "Performance" Pro modes...
@DennisReynolds Indeed, but if <10% of the market has a Pro and you're a developer with limited time, are you going to go to the trouble of making your PSSR implementation look good or are you going to use a "default implementation", call it good, and slap a "Pro enhanced" sticker on the box?
History has proven that graphical tech which is uncommon is not well supported. If many developers already struggle to optimize their games well for a base PS5, why the heck do we think they will go to the trouble of doing a good job implementing a feature that only a fraction of PS5's have?
That's why it was a mistake for Sony to give the Pro a capability that the base PS5 doesn't have and which, if poorly utilized, actually makes a game worse. It's completely ignorant of the quite imperfect realities of game development. PSSR should have only been included if developers basically didn't need to do anything extra to use it and it didn't have downsides.
It's all over X that the issue is they are using an older build of PSSR and need to update it.
@DennisReynolds I can agree the numbers of games affected isn't a super significant number. I blew some unnecessary steam here and no one really deserved that.
But my point is that is shouldn't be acceptable, you know? Any game looking worse. We're talking about a super expensive machine, just launched, that doesn't come with 2 basic components the launch edition had, the same launch controller, different plates just to sell more, etc. And, on top of that, there are games performing worse than on base models? It's just too much for me. Not even their super expensive pro controller has hall effect, I mean, come on...
And look, I have an OG PS5, w drive, got a 2 TB ssd, 2 DS controllers and a nice lil library of physical games & a LOT of digital. Share an account and all. I'm not anti Sony at ALL. And I've bought my consoles since my 64 (Nintendo lost me w WII). I had such a blast with the PS4, it was a no brainer getting a PS5 and my daughter now plays games as well.
So at this point, with all that has gone down this generation, it just seems they feel so safe at this point, there is just no limit to how much they'll disrespect the consumer moving forward.
I understand it's a niche market, this one we love. But if they keep grinding people like this, it'll just make it more and more niche. It means that what now is too expensive for some people, will be for others as well very soon.
And here, it seems most people don't think it's an issue because it doesn't bother them directly. But that is not how the world works. I can still afford to have my hobbie and will probably have to grind a bit to make the shift to PC, but it doesn't mean I'll ever, EVER voice down against stupid greedy corporate choices.
$700 for a "pro" console version without drive or stand, without their pro controller and that has ANY game being worse than base is just absolutely absurd and unacceptable.
XD so many jealous and stupid comments, bashes and trolling
@Whately86 End of the day as i've said the console isn't magic it requires Devs to pull their weight as well. Blaming the Pro for Jedi Survivor looking bad is like blaming a 4090 because Jedi Survivor also runs bad on it as well. Lollipop Chainsaw remaster runs pretty poorly on PS5 and SX so should we blame those consoles that a remaster of a PS3 game runs bad on them? No of course not the issue is clearly on the Devs.
Its worth remembering that negatively generates more clicks. PQ are very guilty of focusing on that and saying wild statements because it gets the comments hot and bothered. What hasn't helped is DF covered a lot of the better performing games in their Pro review, its why the likes of Horizon and FF7 Rebirth haven't got a post launch review as they have been covered already. Finally PQ have been cherry picking what videos to cover, Spidey 2 got a really positive Pro video from DF last week for instance and well PQ didn't cover it. Yes the Pro has teething issues its using brand new tech midway into the gen it was never going to be a perfect launch but again it requires the Devs to do their part as well. Its worth noting the 1st party stuff and games like Stellar Blade and Ronin have had great Pro support most likely because the Devs have had longer to work with the Pro due to either being owned by Sony or working really close with Sony.
@McBurn a better version already exists they just choose to use an earlier version that sucks wccftech has an article about it with an explanation of what's going on
@Drago201 : Doesn't change my statement, but interesting article. I didn't know that, thanks for the info^^
@McBurn u r very much welcome
@Khayl EA has thankfully acknowledged the problem via the EA Star Wars twitter account: https://x.com/EAStarWars/status/1858635462577172846
@DennisReynolds If my issue was with Jedi alone, I would understand the argument. To put it simply, if I'm releasing a product I deem to be premium, pushing the boundary of pricing and offering less in box content than the base, I would assume there should be at least a bar to achieve. But at the end of the day, this kind of thing is acceptable.
Final fantasy is a great example as well. If it runs so poorly on base ps5, how is the final product acceptable for that player base?
Greed can't allow my next statement to be considered realistic at this point. But the truth is that instead of investing millions on ps5 pro, the bar for the base ps5 should have been raised. We have a good console that needs to be fully explored and adapt to the generation that has been. Period. The PS4 Pro brought 4K and PS4 had a healthy gen at that point. Console made sense, base (slim) price brought down, PRO launched at slim's old price (or near, whatever). Made sense.
This gen was severely affected by the pandemic. But Sony wants to keep company numbers as if not. We did NOT have a tech leap in TV's that suddenly made ultra screens super more affordable. Sony is so greedy and blunt they put 8K on PS5 base box. But now the console's not enough to actually enjoy 4k at stable 60 fps. But we have 4K / 120fps on the box or am I delusional?
This gen should have been about pushing 60 fps as the new base, minimum. We have 60hz screens in EVERYONE'S homes for the past decade at least. 4K / 60 fps too much for the new gen? Then be humble and make it 1080 and stick to a concrete evolution. Raise the bar for quality.
But Sony plays in favor of the cheap greedy market. They accept half baked if it pays enough, which should mean a LOT in terms of what they are giving us. Sorry, which we're paying for.
The only reason Cyberpunk was removed from PSN and reimbursed is because CPR took a gigantic crap on everyone. It was just beyond what anyone had ever done in terms of lying, pretending everyone is ok, making millions and STILL releasing it like that. But it's ok, we got the game 5 years later. Then release it 5 years later and be a professional.
The main point is that we have become so easy to be fooled that you come up with arguments of why a 700 machine is playing any game worse than base ps5.
Thing is, it shouldn't be possible. That is it. But tell me why it is acceptable. Please.
@Whately86 I think we're just going round in circles now so i won't bother repeating myself. I will say though you would never survive PC gaming with how you view things. The 60fps as standard dream is also never going to be reality on consoles not when games continue to ever evolve, its why PC gamers laugh at console gamers who expect native 4K/60fps on consoles because they know mid 500$ 2019/20 hardware is never getting you that with most games.
@DennisReynolds 9 out of 1000 should not be acceptable. If you can't make it work, don't put it in. It shouldn't have been released now. PSSR should have been properly developed and been the 1st game changer for next gen. But no, milk it now, use the ps5 game base as test dummies. We accept half baked games anyway.
1080 - 60 fps should be minimum this gen. Want 4K, less fps. But every single game should run at 60. You want more graphics, you get less stable fps.
"oh, but GTA VI". Should run 1080 - 60 fps. Remove the extra extra. Make it possible mode with 30 fps, great. But there should be a mandatory 60 fps, set as standard
Any comparison with PC doesn't make sense since PC is a market that things are released and applied and gen shift is player chosen. Then, it's understandable issues will take place as it's not a closet environment. You absolutely can't control the overall market, which makes the job much more complicated.
To even compare to consoles to justify seems to prove how far you're willing to go to say the company you (we) financially support is right at the end and all their decisions are correctly made, and it's best for the user.
We just consume differently, I guess. And I believe that it's mandatory to be critical, specially with what I spend my hard earned money on.
(EDIT- I added the GTA VI because it's what's going to really push the market in every way possible)
Basically, if a game playing worse than base on a premium console is acceptable, I just think the bar is quite low.
@Whately86 Honestly i just its unfair to put the blame on Sony for the troubles 3rd party devs are causing. As i said the 1st party stuff and games like Ronin and Stellar Blade are a success on Pro and those are the games we should hold Sony responsible for as they have a closer hold on those games. Games like Alan Wake 2, Star Wars, Dragon's Dogma 2 and so on having issues on the Pro is not really on Sony its on the people making them, Sony isn't the one making nor publishing them so why blame Sony? Also 9/1000? What do you mean by that?
Again not everything will be a hit as i said look at the Lollipop Chainsaw remaster it runs worse then the 360 version so is that Sony and MS's fault? AC Syndicate for a good while looked and ran worse on PS5 then it did on PS4 so are we to blame Sony? No it was on Ubi hence why they were the ones to finally fix the issues.
I think the main issue here is you just resent the Pro and Sony for making it and you know what thats fine i get it but the only reason it exists is because the PS4 Pro was a success. Sony are just like it or not repeating what they did last gen because shocker Sony like every Corp in existence is in the business of making money. The popular saying is vote with your wallet and people did they bought the PS4 Pro and telling Sony they will buy a mid gen upgrade. Its why a PS6 Pro is pretty much certain giving the sales of the PS5 Pro.
@Skeletor85
Hear you. Its not the hardware at fault, its mostly the devs. I cannot understand why hardware gets the blame when its always software. This game always had issues. Guess its easier for people to have a poke at Sony than the actual creators of the games.
Not that anyone is still looking at this article anymore, but FWIW, I just discovered that Jedi Survivor did not actually get a new patch upon the PS5 Pro's release. I thought it did, but that was because I hadn't launched the game in so long.
The last patch released for that game was actually back in September so they already had the Pro support built in at that point - and who knows just how much earlier they did that work. That does suggest that it may have been using a somewhat immature/unfinalized PSSR implementation.
@DennisReynolds You know why I blame it on Sony? Because it ain't a Microsoft console. Their machine, they allowed a 700 premium product to run a game worse than base.
If this is ok for you, suck to be you. For me, not cool bro. 700, no pro controller, no base, no disc drive? While the base getting a bunch of game with issues? Who allows that? Would you hire a cook for your restaurant if he said he could cook chinese but he can actually do some of the dishes. But if you hire his brother, you can def get the Chinese dishes you paid for the first time? And then his brother makes a dish even worse than him? Would you just pay them their premium Chinese dish maker salary and say that is the market?
But maybe I'm just either too old or I grew up in a "3rd world" country and tend to try to give value to the money I earned being away from house and family. Maybe to me it's just significant that something i loved is being abused.
But hey, the market, right?
pay the 2 Chinese cooks, bro.
@Sweetz Still doesn't justify why it's acceptable for this to ever have run in that state on a super top notch premium device. And it's not a case of a single exception.
Sony doesn't give a craps ass melted in butter about us. The bottom line is just that. They dodged allowing games being released in "acceptable" states, full of issues, while they already had the pro in the makes. This Pro should take our gaze away from the things they didn't deliver for the base ps5 and it doesn't even do that.
But you can always see it in a way that is more acceptable to you.
"UNFAIR" to blame the billionaire company that put 8K & 4K/120 on the base PS5 packaging and will make you pay nearly (if not exactly or more) DOUBLE for you to have their PRO with the exact things that came with the base. It's not that expensive to make a freaking base, is it?
But if I had people that would defend my company while I sell stands and drives separately from a premium product while giving them one of the exact same controller and didn't even care to certify that games would even run better... Hell, I'd do the same.
