After countless leaks and rumours, Nintendo's Switch 2 has finally been officially announced, and the industry is now patiently awaiting further information in a few months' time.
It's always exciting when a new console is on the horizon, and as mentioned, they usually bring a lot of rumours and leaks with them. Notably, NateDrake, or Nate the Hate, stated the machine would be unveiled on Thursday 16th January, 2025, with a trailer focusing predominantly on the hardware and not any particular games — and that's exactly what's happened.
Now that NateDrake has hit the bullseye with this leak, it's clear he's a reliable source of information, and it means his other recent statements are more likely to be true as well.
One such rumour is that of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator heading to PS5 this year. Now that the Switch 2 has proven NateDrake right, his other claims seem more likely to follow suit — leaving alone the fact that Windows Central has corroborated this rumour in particular.
He's also recently suggested that Sony's next State of Play is planned for February.
Obviously the proof is in the pudding, so we can't be fully confident in NateDrake's information, but it sure seems more legit now than it did prior to the Switch 2 reveal.

Why wouldn’t they put Master Chief Collection on PS5? Just seems like easy money for them to put old classic games on new consoles, especially when those titles aren’t moving their own hardware. What I would be surprised to see is a new Halo coming to PS5 day one.
@Airsqueeble I’m sure a new Halo (as well as the MC collection, hopefully) will land on PS5, but yeah…probably not day one. Although that WOULD be a good way to beef up multiplayer numbers.
The moment Halo, Forza, Gears go to PS5 and Switch 2 is when Xbox is considered to be no longer important.
Billbill-kun vs NateHate Rumour Wars exclusively on playstation to shadow drop at next state of play, you read it here first 😉👍
@anoyonmus Looks like that is pretty soon my dude.
If Halo goes PS5 and maybe Switch 2 it is probably the nail in the Xbox coffin.
Unless maybe Xbox come and say all future new Halo, gears and Forza horizon etc will only release after one year on Xbox universe devices including consoles and GPU day one.
At least then it gives a bit of a reason to own an Xbox console.
@anoyonmus I do think that the Xbox still has a place in the market. I have a Ps5 myself but I would think of Ps5 and Xbox as Samsung and Apple, you buy what you like and what you are used to and comfortable with.
The most interesting thing to me is the talk about Microsoft developing a handheld device, because if they start porting things to switch 2, what would be the motivation for anyone to buy their hardware?
I just wish people bought an Xbox if they wanted to play these games. I think the industry will be a lot less exciting if they do finally give the whole slate. Not talking about console wars - all the other good stuff.
@K1LLEGAL Agreed, I don't own an Xbox anymore, but more and more MS is just making it really difficult to persuade me into buying an Xbox. Now that every game is going to PS and even Switch I just simply don't care to get one. Still upset that I bought an Xbox One back then for Scalebound only for it to be cancelled.
@Nepp67 haha well I bought a PS3 for Kingdom Hearts III…😂
But yea expect fewer Xbox centric websites (PureXbox) plus potentially less dedicated hardware to buy in the future. I know more Xbox’s are coming but in what form.
But Quick Resume would still sell me on one to be honest, I just don’t want Xbox to know that.
@alex8329 i agree; everyone has preferences, so there will always be a reason for someone to prefer playing a xbox over a playstation and vise versa. some of us play both and like them all.
@K1LLEGAL sometimes it ain’t convenient to buy a whole console just for one or two games.
@DonkeyFantasy Day 5 on Gamepass Ultimate, as only 1 of the 3 Gamepass tiers has this function.
@K1LLEGAL "I just wish people bought an Xbox if they wanted to play these games"
But is Microsoft who's basically telling us "don't worry guys no need to come here, we'll come to you". Now that they have tons of first party games they decide that they don't want exclusives anymore.
If the MCC were to release on PS5, it would sell millions of copies, easy; and I would absolutely be one of them. I put a frightening amount of hours into Halo back in college and the idea of having 6 campaigns/5 multiplayer suites available on PlayStation? Sign me up!
@K1LLEGAL There are plenty of people who just can't afford to have multiple consoles. Since the only real differentiating factor between the two (PS and XB) are their exclusives, people gradually just moved to PS, myself included. PS has consistently, on average, had higher quality exclusives at a much more regular clip. With Xbox console sales down year over year, I think it's better to have them move their titles over to other platforms, rather than just bury them all when Xbox inevitably folds. At this point, I just don't see Xbox rebounding to a point where they can realistically compete with PlayStation.
Edit: I think Xbox, as we know it, will eventually fold, but not Microsoft's gaming division. Whether they rebrand or not, I think Xbox's future is primarily as a third-party publisher, much like Sega is today. They may still manufacture consoles at a smaller scale, or maybe even allow third-parties to do it for them, but their days as a legitimate competitor to PlayStation are done.
I know it's blasphemous for me to say, but I'd love to replay the original Halo trilogy. Put it on PS5 and I'll be there day one — fantastic campaigns.
@ShogunRok
Why is that blasphemous? A good game franchise is a good game franchise regardless of original platform?
@wildcat_kickz @nomither6 @juanalf I know financially and just in terms of time a lot of people can’t have more than one console. I’m not having a go at any one i’m just giving my thoughts which is I wish Xbox had done better. But I also do wish more people had chosen Xbox 🤷♂️.
Also yea 100% they will continue as at LEAST a games publishers ($80 billion says hello). But I think the everything is an Xbox campaign is to teach people that even when there isn’t an “Xbox” there are still “Xbox’s”. If that makes sense.
If Halo & Gears goes to PS5, I will sell my Series S.
Only reason I still have it
@K1LLEGAL Yeah, I totally understand. I also wish Xbox had done better and given more people a reason to choose their platform over Sony's, but they fumbled hard. I chose 360 over PS3 and was VERY happy with my choice, but when Xbox One and PS4 rolled around, I felt the choice was pretty clear and haven't looked back since.
I was gonna finally buy a Switch last year but held of on hearing about the Switch 2. Defo joining the Nintendo family this year.
@PegasusActual93 I'm just joking because I write for this website!
@nomither6 I would buy all the consoles and a pc but space and money are factors in that. I choose a Ps5 as a personal best choice for myself and to the other comment…I would probably never buy a console just to play 2 games I cannot play on my Ps5 but again this is just me.
@ShogunRok out of all the Halo games ive played this is my ranking
1: Halo 5 Guardians
2: Halo: Infinite
3: Halo 4
4: Halo O.D.S.T
Now I would rank the rest lower but I can't can i in a list of halo games so:
5: Halo 2
6: Halo & Halo 3 (it's basically the same game(something Bungie have always done... make the same game over and over and over(marathon is halo is destiny(apart from Oni))))
7: Halo Wars (like age of empires but *****)
8: Halo reach. One of the worse games i've ever played.
So in summary save yourself 🤭
At this point it’s just a given that first party Xbox games will becoming to PlayStation and possibly the Switch. Honestly, there is no point in even wondering if it will happen; it’s a matter of when.
@code45709 Halo 5 top and Reach bottom? Yeah this has got to be trolling.

Why is NateDrake written in the news? (Considering this information was published by Nate the Hate).
@code45709 are you a troll??? I am obviously old and don't get the 'joke'... or you just have no clue
@code45709 please tell me you’re joking with that list! 🤮🤮
As a lifelong Sega / Nintendo / Xbox player, and recent (PS5) Sony boy, you PS only players are in for a bloody treat if/when MCC / Gears / etc come across. Some truly incredible games

@Airsqueeble Better hardware, maybe? It depends on if Microsoft goes closed ecosystem or portable pc just with Xbox branding.
Playing Halo 3 on the switch sounds cool
@anoyonmus Fable being ported would also seal Xbox's fate.
Halo on a Sony console was not something I thought I'd see in my lifetime.
@K1LLEGAL The market can't support 3 systems. It never could, which was why SEGA had to exit. Microsoft has deeper pockets, so they have kept going, but eventually Xbox needs to make big money.
They tried changing perspective to online services but even that is hitting a wall.
All that's left is to be a 3rd party.

@anoyonmus ye that's mad if they're decide put those on but halo is especially the last one I'd have thought to do that was the game back in it days youd get an Xbox n the 1st game you'd think of associated with it. I'm on Xbox n tbh I'm not bothered if they go across like more people get to play but can see alot getting upset leaving over it bad business decision I reckon.
@K1LLEGAL quick resume is one of the best things they've ever done I love it 🤣 got 8games on it ATM🤣
@nomither6 my position Id love to play ratchet and clank but 600 quid for that is bit high 🤣 if they remake jak n Dexter though then I'm on a difficult position 🤣🤣
@DennisReynolds deffo 4 n 5 were poor reach was on of the best for online was probs my fave. That dmr 😍
