Composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, perhaps best known as Nine Inch Nails, have a distinctive sound unlike anyone else. And ahead of their work on Naughty Dog’s new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the pair just scooped a Golden Globe for their efforts on Zendaya’s messy sports romance, Challengers.
Winning gongs like this isn’t anything new for Reznor and Ross, as they already have two Academy Awards for The Social Network and Soul. But it’s a reminder that The Last of Us maker is once again working with the best in the business when it comes to its upcoming game.
For those of you who haven’t seen Challengers yet, the pounding, industrial synths synchronise surprisingly well with the aggressive on-court action and lingering slow-motion shots. The movie’s maybe an acquired taste, but the soundtrack is incredible, and we can’t wait to hear what the duo come up with for Intergalactic.

Absolutely deserved. I hope we get a Apple Music OST release
Just a sign of more awards to come.
Reznor and Ross are a force to be reckoned with. Can't wait for ND to release more details on the game (and more trailers, hopefully including gameplay footage)!

I'd say Marilyn Manson sounds like NiN seeing as Trent produced for him. And late The Cure stuff.
Loved the intergalactic trailer soundtrack. I think they absolutely nailed the vibe.
@Psofo they nine inch nailed it
That soundtrack for the Intergalactic trailer was on another level. 🌞
I only know NiN back when i watched Wanted movie and their song "Everyday is exactly the same" started when Wesley woke up and go to work. I really like that song so i expect Intergalactic will have some dope musics.
No doubt the score for Intergalactic will be top-tier, these guys are at the top of their game. I love the transition from NiN to being sought-after composers for Film and TV (and games!)
@riceNpea while i agree, i would say as score composers they're quite out there on their own. If we were keeping the realm of popular or alternative music separate from scores and soundtracks.
These guys are the reason why I have a playlist called "I want you to eat me, maren. bones and all" saved in my spotify and I'm not ashamed of it. Also, that challengers soundtrack gets the body moving
Wish they'd concentrate on new NIN material rather than the soundtracks which mostly sound the same.
Challengers was a bit more up tempo thankfully but hardly up there with the best NIN albums.
Christ alive, was confused for a second before I realised you were referring to Trent Reznor by a stupid roundabout way.
Well that is good. The music is the only thing that I like about the trailer.
such a bizarre title to this article, I know you're framing it in a PS way but they're the biggest score composers outside of Hans Zimmer
Very well deserved.
What a banger score
The music was the only good thing about the trailer. The trailer went "so well" that the dislike ratio toppled it all to the point that Naughty Dog removed the comments section, yet Playstation didn't for their channel and you can see how many are not happy with this. Just seems like another modern politics game from Playstation. Ps5 will most likely be the last PS I buy at this rate. This gen has basically demolished all the good will I had for Sony. Ghost Of Yotei looks to be another Sony sequel that will demolish the original
Raytraced audio?
@Deadsea93 women in games = politics 🙄
