Genshin Impact’s big Natlan storyline is largely over, so v5.4 is a lighter update overall. Due out on 12th February, you can look forward to a trip to the bathhouse, a bunch of minigames, and a new experimental event featuring some slice of life events from all over Teyvat.

We suppose the highlight here is the addition of Yumemizuki Mizuki, who’s being billed as a highly versatile character enhancing your party’s Swirl DMG. She’s capable of dishing damage and healing depending on what your teammates need, and very much strikes us as a heroine designed to really help beginners build their first starter squads.

While she’ll headline the first phase of the update, it’s probably telling that she’ll be added to the permanent 5-Star character pool moving forwards, so you don’t necessarily need to pull on her time-limited banner unless you love her kit and design. She’ll be flanked by Sigewinne, while Furina and Wriothesley will get reruns in the update’s second phase.

In terms of events, like we say, it’s quite light really. The Mikawa Flower Festival will return with a trio of minigames, while Travelers’ Tales: Anthology Chapter is bringing a bunch of different encounters to the world map, as HoYoverse finds new purposes for fan favourite characters.

There’ll also be the usual combat gauntlets and a fishing activity, as well as a ton of quality-of-life improvements to character building and the user interface. We should also mention that keys will no longer be required to take on character quests.

So, a pretty light Genshin Impact update, then, but with all the other gacha games going crazy lately, maybe that’s for the best. Will you be attending the Mikawa Flower Festival at all? Let us know below.
