Capcom has revealed a second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will take place on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC across two weekends in February, just prior to the game's full release. You shall be able to play from 6th February 2025 through to the 9th, and then again on 13th February until the 16th. Crossplay will be active across all platforms, and a PS Plus subscription won't be needed to play.
In a video from producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, it's confirmed you'll be able to battle the returning Gypceros monster in the second beta, and access all the content from the first pre-launch test. Your custom character can be transferred too, and it can also be carried over into the full game.
The first Monster Hunter Wilds beta wasn't without its issues, which Capcom stated has led to lots of improvements as it looks to finish development ahead of the game's 28th February 2025 release. Weapon upgrades are on the way, and so too is the return of a better hitstop mechanic. However, you won't be able to test any of these updates in the second beta.
In a follow-up tweet, Capcom explained: "Please bear in mind that improvements covered in the Pre-Launch Community Update, including performance, game balance, weapon mechanics, known issues and more will not be reflected in OBT 2." It's unclear whether open beta 2 will use the exact same build as the first test, but the original demonstrated significant graphical and frame rate problems.
For taking part in the second beta, you'll earn a pendant, a stuffed felyne teddy cosmetic, and a bonus item pack for use in the full game. Will you be testing out the second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta? Sharpen your massive sword in the comments below.

Pointless then.
Yeah, doesn't sound like we'll see any graphical improvements, which... I mean, I'm not buying it until I read some hands on impressions with the launch day product.
Performance was my biggest concern and Capcom is just "Trust me, bro, we improved it. You won't know till launch, but we totally did!"
Yes! Absolutely adored the beta and wanted more after it ended. The wait for launch is tough
Too bad the only new monster seems to be gypceros. One of my least favorite monsters to fight ever
If performance is not way better on PS5, i will not buy it at release. I still have a lot to do on World and Rise, that are both running great on PS5.
@Dalamar ....Would you rather they wasted time updating the demo build instead of putting all possible resources into the current one, or?
I get the scepticism, but if in doubt just wait for reviews. If they have done what they said they have - and lets just say that the developers didn't get so popular with their audience over the years by lying to them - then they used their time exactly as they should have.
Y'all can thank me for that.
Just yesterday, I literally said to a friend we probably won't get another beta this close to release "because that'd feel kind of pointless"
@Dalamar it's the exact same build as before down to Gypceros being already fully functional in it last time.
People have shown the monster in the beta build on PC WEEKS ago.
@crossbit I would be less pessimistic and more trusting if Dragon's Dogma 2 wasn't a thing.
What the point of releasing a beta so close to the official release? The game is probably already on physical disc and ready to ship to stores. At that point, just release a demo…
i loved MH World, and Wilds doesn't look worse or better. Maybe i also never expected to much improvements in the first place. So for me its more World and i can't wait for it~
I’m definitely jumping in to the beta.
Last week I purchased Monster Hunter Rise during the sale and have been having a great time, so my hunting skills should be slightly up to speed.
Awesome. Missed the first one because I was away from my computer when it happened. Curious to see how it runs on my relatively modest rig.
Would much rather it be now. But didn't people play it recently? Maybe it'll at least be that version which seemed better than the previous beta.
@8bit4Life The one thing you'll have to detrain from your play style is wire bug recovery 😅 Returning to the World-like control scheme reminded me that ninja hunters only exist in Kamura...
@B0udoir Seems to me like a stress test for the servers and to check if crossplay is working as intended.
@Broosh There's a mount rescue command that's a little like Wirefall.
Excited to get another bite of the demo apple! Doesn't seem like this will be a good representative of PS5 Pro performance — but it's a beta for network testing so I'll avoid drawing any unreasonable and whiny conclusions from it
OK, I'm game. Should be fun
