Capcom has revealed a second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will take place on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC across two weekends in February, just prior to the game's full release. You shall be able to play from 6th February 2025 through to the 9th, and then again on 13th February until the 16th. Crossplay will be active across all platforms, and a PS Plus subscription won't be needed to play.
In a video from producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, it's confirmed you'll be able to battle the returning Gypceros monster in the second beta, and access all the content from the first pre-launch test. Your custom character can be transferred too, and it can also be carried over into the full game.
The first Monster Hunter Wilds beta wasn't without its issues, which Capcom stated has led to lots of improvements as it looks to finish development ahead of the game's 28th February 2025 release. Weapon upgrades are on the way, and so too is the return of a better hitstop mechanic. However, you won't be able to test any of these updates in the second beta.
In a follow-up tweet, Capcom explained: "Please bear in mind that improvements covered in the Pre-Launch Community Update, including performance, game balance, weapon mechanics, known issues and more will not be reflected in OBT 2." It's unclear whether open beta 2 will use the exact same build as the first test, but the original demonstrated significant graphical and frame rate problems.
