Dynasty Warriors: Origins patch 1.003 is now available to download on PS5, weighing in at a very reasonable 220MB.
While it's not what we'd call a significant update, the patch does bring a few welcome improvements. Most notably, it adds a new option that lets you lower the frequency of those mind-numbing NPC dialogues that occur as you traverse the world map. You can even mute them entirely if you like.
A new 'Gold Serpent Spear' weapon has been added as well (which is actually a Lance, despite the name), as a celebration of the game's recently announced sales success.
It's also worth pointing out the slight gameplay adjustment that could have a surprising impact on the title's tougher boss battles. The developer's shortened the period of invulnerability that enemies get when they enter their all-powerful Rage mode, which technically means that it's now easier to break down their defences.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Patch 1.003 Patch Notes
Additional Features and Adjustments
- The Gold Serpent Spear has been added to the game. After obtaining a weapon of the Lance type, a letter will arrive at your current base.
- Solved an issue that caused text rendered at high resolutions to appear less clear than it should.
- Added Rumor Settings to the Configuration menu. These new settings allow you to make the rumors that play automatically when on the World Map occur less frequently or make them play without sound.
- Added Frame Skip to the Graphics Settings menu. Turning it off when using VRR may make graphics smoother.
- Shortened the length of time that enemies are invulnerable during the animations that play out when they enter Rage mode.
- Added a feature that allows events to be paused by pressing the TouchPad button and allows UI elements to be hidden.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that caused officers to be highlighted as though the Highlight Officers setting in the Display menu had been set to the default even when the feature was turned off.
- Fixed a bug that was causing the portable item Incense of Vitality to not always heal allies properly when used.
- Fixed a bug that disabled the upgrade boost for the Adamantine Flesh Battle Art (Crescent Blade) after mastering it.
- Fixed a bug that caused the strength of Crescent Blade Battle Art Azure Dragon Bellow to not increase in line with its upgrade level.
- Fixed a bug that caused unintended damage when certain Battle Arts were canceled with Battle Arts with Sp. effects.
- Fixed other minor bugs.
- Controller buttons have been labeled according to PS5 console standards.

@carlos82 😆 🤣
@carlos82 Aloy and Atreus, when it comes to puzzles....
Sand Land really needs a patch like this too...😓 Good on Tecmo Koei for paving the way.
Super excited this is doing well, been a fan of DW since 3 and this might be the shake up I need. Fell off hard after they made characters able to use other weapons - part of the appeal of having so many characters was the variety in styles. Now they're all kind of similar
The FRAME SKIP option in the graphics settings is a big change as it fixes the 120hz option. (Providing your TV has 120hz).
Before, when using 120hz it introduced a high frequency stuttering effect when panning the camera, moving etc which really ruined the mode. This happened even when using performance mode on PS5 Pro.
The best I can compare it to is that it looked like VRR was broken when using 120hz, even though the console said it was working.
Turn this new frame skip option 'OFF' - it is 'on" by default, and the 120hz option appears fully fixed. It really is a night and day change, and I have no idea what they were trying to acheive with it before this patch.
If you have Pro, it even improves the smoothness of the Graphics mode, running at 120hz with the new setting turned off.
It may also be that if you have been getting issues with VRR in sub 60fps (48-60) situations this may help there as well, as I suspect it broke VRR in all modes on BASE and PRO - I was just playing the game at effectively locked 60fps in 60hz so never saw it as VRR wasnt needed much (whereas the game never runs locked 120fps in 120hz mode, so always relies on VRR).
@Rich33 thanks for the explanation 👍
@Drago201
No problem - I probably could have explained it better lol but Ive only just tested it out, having noticed the issue at launch.
I have no clue what this frame skip function was trying to acheive, but glad we can now turn it off.
@Rich33 that explanation is fine I'm just glad they were able to fix the problem and had someone to explain it cuz I've never heard of that option before
I already have means to shut everything up, it's called "mute" and it works on everything!
I wish BG3 had this for combat. The repeated dialogue every time you toggle stealth is tiring. Feel like puzzles in AAA games should use NDs hint system (press a button on the dpad)
