We probably won’t be playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 for a while, as the PS5 sequel is still relatively new and Insomniac Games is heads down on Marvel’s Wolverine.
We know the game’s coming eventually, though, and speaking with The Direct at MultiCon this weekend, voice actor Yuri Lowenthal – who plays Peter Parker in the games – shared some small details about the future of the franchise.
Please be aware that we will be touching upon some story specific spoilers in this article, so if you don’t want to read those, consider returning to the homepage now.
Anyway, asked about Lowenthal’s role in the next game, he explained: “There are very few things that I can say about this game, but you have somehow landed on the one thing that I can answer, and that’s, yes, Peter is not gone. He will be a part of the next game and he won't be relegated to the couch, I promise.”
Those of you who’ve finished the game will know that Peter effectively passes his web-slinging gauntlet to understudy Miles Morales at the end of the campaign. But it’s always implied this is a temporary retirement, and with the Green Goblin expected to feature in the third game, it seems inevitable he’ll be back in business before long.
One particularly interesting wrinkle is that there may be three playable superheroes in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, as the very last scene shows Miles’ mum Rio introduce her family to boyfriend Albert Moon. In the very closing shot, we see the back of his daughter Cindy, who fans will recognise as web-slinger Silk.
So, it seems likely to us that the third game will see Peter, Miles, and Cindy all working together to face its toughest test yet. Does this premise have you excited, or are you burned out on the Marvel’s Spider-Man series for now? Let us know in the comments section below.

Spider-Man 2 felt fantastic to play, and looked gorgeous. But the story and character development were really not good at all and a big let down after SM1.
Hopefully they can remediate that in SM3, and also diversify the gameplay while keeping it as fun as it is now.
Im down with that.spiderman is one of PlayStation best video games ever made.word up son
Good news! I wasn’t the biggest fan of #2 for a variety of reasons (still good, just not great), the Miles game is still my favorite of the three though, by far.
@DonkeyFantasy my thoughts exactly. It didn’t feel different enough.
After 2 eeeeeh no thanks I'll pass
I do agree that Silk will be playable. SM1 had one Spider-man, SM2 had 2 Spider-mans, SM3 will have 3 Spider-mans(Spider-peoples?)
@ChrisDeku "Spider-Folk" — hmm, sounds a bit too whimsical, like a children's story about a family of actual spiders just poddling about doing spider-things.
This probably will be a PS6 title, so a bit early to even speculate about it. Still so much that can change.
I have loved the insomniac spider man games would definitely be playing spider man 3
I hope they go back to Ratchet and Clank sometime. A third game would be fun but it feels like we have all you can eat Spider-Man but not much else. Same with Sucker Punch kinda I think a new Infamous would be a really nice move after Ghost of Tsushima
The green goblin and dr ock, ooooooh the betrayals that will occur 🙃
@Andee Interesting you should mention the whimsical child’s storybook style because the first thing that makes me think of is alliterative names and I hadn’t even realised both Peter and Miles have alliterative names! Unfortunately, Cindy Moon does not. Why didn’t they go with Mindy Moon??!
@GoatFace04 Man, I hope we see Ratchet and Clank again! I get genuinely nervous sometimes that the franchises I like are going dormant to make way for massive IP like Spider-Man. No offense to the Spider-Man games, of course. They’re good games, but they’re nothing I’d buy a console for, you know?
Also, wish Sucker Punch would revitalize Sly Cooper and Rocket: Robot on Wheels. If there’s something interesting that Astro Bot did for at least one kid, it’s made my son deep dive into older Sony games. He’s interested in Sly, but has a hard time playing the game due to the dated presentation of the game. He can beat Astro Bot and does pretty decent with Rift Apart. Get games out there for the kids, you know? My kid literally asks why there’s no new Ape Escape games. Lol. He’s too young to have nostalgia for the things the industry vaulted away before he was born!
@DonkeyFantasy I agree the game didn't feel different enough. Even though it was better in many ways - combat, traversal, side-missions etc. It's a particular struggle for this series due to the same New York setting albeit an expanded one with a fresh coat of paint.
@Olmaz The story was going good imo, but the end just felt rushed like they had cut content somewhere. This felt even more of step back because the first absolutely nailed this aspect. The story is almost perfectly told and paced. They need to do better here.
That all said I still thoroughly enjoyed the game, compared to most, it just had a few more rough edges and didn't quite nail the landing. And with it being a sequel and lacking the wow factor, it fairs less favourably to the first game.
@somnambulance Another Ratchet game was in the Insomniac leak. It was certainly in their plans, not that i'd expect them to stay exactly the same, plans change.
Brilliant gameplay let down with a crap story I thought
@ChrisDeku Marvel and comics are famous for having heroes with alliterative names - Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Steven Strange, Matt Murdock, Bruce Banner, Scott Summers, Curt Connors, Otto Octavius, Wade Wilson - the list is massive. It stems from Stan Lee wanting easy to remember names for the vastly increased roster of Marvel heroes they were creating in the 60s and carried on from there.
Take your time with this one please Insomniac. SM2 was great but SM1 story was so moving, simply the best SM story in all media. SM3 should raise the bar not just with gameplay but with the story and characters.
@FinneasGH There is an episode of Big Bang where they rattles off a long list and finish on Fin Fang Foom as the ultimate example.
Honestly I’ll probably watch cutscenes for the story. The second game started strong and then quickly devolved into “it’s the first game but bigger” and halfway through I was begging for it to end. Plus, outside of the late new game plus mode there’s very little replay value. I’m just burnt out on games that waste their talent on open world busywork, and I’m embarrassed to say that this one was more tedious than many Ubisoft titles. That’s not the kind of thing I want to feel from insomniac.
I started to play 2 and after about 30 minutes fatigue kicked in and I turned it off!
I’m sure it’s really good individually but for me it felt like Deja vu.
I really, really hope that Insomniac didn't turn into pure marvel studio, but seems it is exactly what happened.
If they have to finish Wolverine first, which we’ve heard almost nothing about, I won’t be playing Spider-Man 3, way after my time by then. I already don’t see myself getting a PS6, PS5 and Switch 2 are the end of the road for me.
Speaking of Wolverine, do we know who’s voice acting him? Pretty sure it isn’t Jackman, which is fine, but I’m not really a fan of the voice actor in X-Men 97 either. Can’t think of anyone off hand, but it should be deep and gravelly and angry. Not Christopher Judge deep though, that only works 1 syllable at a time. 😂
Edit: ok so I did some of my own research, the Google kind, and it seems like the Wolverine voice actor is Liam Mcintire, who isn’t in this YT vid about Wolverine voice actors. Never watched Spartacus.

3 needs to be a huge leap for me to buy into. I was kinda hoping that was the case with 2 but it was more of the same. C'mon Insomniac, don't rest on your laurels for the trilogy closer!
Here I was hoping we would see something not Marvel related after Wolverine 🙁
@themightyant Exactly. I just don’t trust the industry at the moment, unfortunately. That Matt Piscatella video from last week was sort of eye opening to the business side of things of video games. Can’t believe the stats that he spoke of and I sort of get all the hesitancy to produce big budget games after hearing about the attachment rates of games to gamers. I think the industry feels weird because we’re starting to get transparency about hard numbers and seeing the disconnect between gamers and GAMERS. It’s no wonder why things don’t feel like they’re going “our way” (to generalize) sometimes.
Damn, why does everyone hate sequels? lol
@DonkeyFantasy I agree would love to see Insomniac other things indeed
I really liked SM2 - better in a number of ways, maybe a tiny bit worse on some parts of the plot. I really liked peters interactions with Dr Octavius in SM1, but also liked Peter and Harry's interactions in 2. I also really liked SM MM, but thought Miles had less key storyline in SM2.
I could never see how 3 couldn't feature Peter as the main character, at least from a certain point forwards, as nearly all the set-ups - Doc Oc, Goblin, Carnage, Harry returning? - really involve Peter and his history with them, and not Miles.
Spider-Man 4 will have 4 Spider-Mans? Crazy
it will be disappointing , sm2 was underwhelming af
Still havent played 2, but would be cool to have Silk added to the roster.
@Olmaz Agreed. Been a fan of the Spider-man for a long time and downgrading the most important characters like this, just didn’t work. Fun gameplay though
I wouldn't be surprised if Peter Parker's role in SM3 was to kill him off. SM2 was such a massive disappointment for me story wise.
Would rather they took a break from Spiderman and brought back a Resistance game and maybe left S3 for PS6 or something
I finished S1 and liked it my girlfriend played S2 and I watched I haven't to this day even bothered to start it myself
I still liked SM2s story then the mcu spiderman. But theses comments are so bad because they expected better?
Give me a break. Plus Gamimg Wins is really so much better for reviewing the game.
@Dalamar I’d kill for them to bring a new infamous game please!
@HRdepartment inFAMOUS is a Sucker Punch series not Insomniac. Insomniac's PS3 Era franchise was Resistance which well yeah I'd kill for a collection or sequel for 😅
@Keyblade-Dan makkkkkkeiiiiitttttttttttt!!!!!!!
