Kojima Productions has announced it's hosting a panel at next month's SXSW (South by Southwest), where it will reveal new details and updates concerning Death Stranding 2. The panel will take place on 9th March 2025 and will see Hideo Kojima "discuss and share new details about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach". As mentioned in the panel description, the PS5 game is due to release later this year. The event will be livestreamed, with more details to follow.
Announced on the same day as a State of Play showcase — which is taking place tomorrow — it is unclear whether this update could rule out an appearance during Sony's digital show. Hideo Kojima has been known to debut news relating to his video games at more unexpected events, but given the release is a PS5 exclusive developed under Sony's wing, a meaningful update like a trailer or release date still seems more likely to be at the State of Play.

The last trailer for Death Stranding 2 was one of the weirdest and best game trailers I’ve seen in years. Can’t wait to learn more. I’ve had Death Stranding: Director’s Cut since its PS5 launch and still haven’t played it. Waiting for a couple months before DS2’s release.
Hopefully that means it’s skipping the SOP. I’ve already seen enough of it personally, just need a release date.
Well, at least the next SoP won't dedicate a 20 minutes long presentation just for Death Stranding 2....I hope...
Considering the State of Play is more than 40 minutes long, I think there's a decent chance we'll get another 10+ minute DS2 trailer. I want to think PlayStation would like a big headliner like Kojima at the State of Play but I don't know with them these days.
A similar situation happened in September with TGS so I guess this rules out it being in tomorrow's State of Play.

The first game was one of the few games I played at release… this will be another.
I expect it’ll be at the SOP, even with this showcase. I think the SOP will have a trailer and there will be something of a breakdown at SXSW.

I can’t wait… I want to know more but I don’t want there to be spoiler-y stuff. Kojima is usually pretty good about not giving away key plot points and keeping pretty much all the mystery intact.
I need another set of hands and eyes so I can keep playing the first one but also make a dent in my backlog. The first one for me is infinitely playable.
