If The Game Awards is the MTV Awards, then the DICE Awards is the Grammys. Or something like that.
Either way, Sony’s first-party absolutely cleaned up at the event overnight, which is voted on by industry professionals.
Astro Bot won five awards, including Game of the Year, while Helldivers 2 grabbed four gongs. MLB The Show 24 also took home the sports award, rounding out a very impressive night for PS Studios.

As you know, Astro Bot attracted more awards than any other game in 2024, and its success just keeps on coming. Earlier this week, Team ASOBI announced five free levels for the critically acclaimed game.
In other related news, retiring Insomniac Games boss Ted Price was inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ Hall of Fame.
Congratulations to Team ASOBI, Arrowhead, Ted Price, and all the other winners.

Damn a Sony sweep. Not bad for Indy either though 1000xRESIST was robbed in story.
Do we know if DICE is going to upload the Cory Barlog/Neil Druckmann talk? That sounded interesting.
Let's see if Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2, and whatever Sony 1st party that came out this year gonna make it a back to back winning streak.
Well done again to Astro Bot.
However, they could only manage 3 nominees for racing.
:ridiculous_current_support_of_the_racing_genre_sad_face:
SIE is so lucky, ASTROBOT is actually save PS5!!!! Don't fall into a big budget boring game again!
@PuppetMaster Going to be difficult with GTA but can definitely see them in the conversation.
Metaphor was robbed for that story achievement award.
@breakneck sigh, i forgot about GTA 6 🤦♂️
Yeah it would be a miracle for Sony games to win an award because GTA 6 gonna clean up every single awards. Can't wait to see gaming media hail it as the best thing ever made since slice bread.
@breakneck I still think there's zero chance of GTA 6 releasing this year.
@breakneck Interestingly both GTAV and Read Dead Redemption 2 lost the overall GOTY Race to Sony games. The Last of Us and God of War(2018)
What stands out too is the almost total absence of any games made by Nintendo (just 1, right?) or even games that are on the Switch. It really is time for the Switch 2. Microsoft are on their knees in terms of the Xbox's sales and image but they did way better than Nintendo here.
@ChrisDeku True hopefully they improve the shooting mechanics and mission structure. Those felt very dated in RDR2 while the rest of game was amazing.
@Ainu20 Please don't jinx it! I've been waiting so long for it!
And 2024 was considered as a weak year for Sony...
Congratulations to the developers!
I think that PlayStation studios has been mismanaged for quite some time, but it is impossible to say that it is across the board, because look at the success of Helldivers 2 and Astro Bot.
@ChrisDeku that’s why I have never taken any award show seriously no matter the industry. It’s all a matter of taste really.
@PuppetMaster
I never did get what is meant to be so good about GTA - I enjoyed 1 of the games (SA I think?), but none of the others. Much preferred the early Saints Row games (1-3).
Throwing slight shade here, but in what world is Indiana doing in the GOTY category, when the likes of Stellar Blade and Rebirth aren't.....
Edit: Also the fact it won outstanding story award is actual crazy talk, smh
@Rich33 I think what makes people like GTA are the setting, story, characters, missions variety, and music. Gameplay wise they're okay but sometimes downright bad like the A.I, shooting, and melee combat which i feel other open world games like Sleeping Dogs did better. I never played Saints Row games though...
It's nice to see a game like Astro Bot get such recognition and hopefully we get more fun games like this.
Overall I'd say Indiana Jones is the best game I've played from last year and that's done rather well here and is something Playstation players should look forward to
@PuppetMaster
Yeah, I never thought much to the stories, or most of the characters in the GTA games I played (except those in the 1 game I did enjoy, which im sure was SA). Settings and mission variety were ok.
Probably why the games never clicked with me.
I never bothered with 5 after playing 4 and seeing some trailers.
Wow, I wonder how they managed that "without any games" xD
I am most pleased Helldivers 2 won four awards.
@PuppetMaster don't think anything will beat gta 6 this year
@Rich33 I think most GTA fans agreed that San Andreas has the best story & characters in the series. GTA 4 was a slow burner though but imho the story is better than 5.
@PuppetMaster GTA 3 will always be my goat, but GTA 4 is lowkey the best one...... part from the infamous "COUSIN, you want to go bolwing"
While it was an excellent night for Playstation, winning 10 out of 23, it's somewhat factually incorrect to state it "absolutely cleaned up".
@Americansamurai1 I agreed in terms of hype GTA 6 will be at the top. But i don't know if story and gameplay will be good especially after Dan Houser left R* years ago.
@Oram77 Lol true, i love Roman and i don't think R* can write another character like him.
@Oram77 "in what world is Indiana doing in the GOTY category, when the likes of Stellar Blade and Rebirth aren't....."
In what world is an Xbox console exclusive doing in the GOTY category when 2 Playstation console exclusives aren't, you mean? 😶
Astro Bot is love, Astro Bot is life.
@GeeForce I was waiting for a reply like this. No it has nothing to do with it being an Xbox exclusive (even though it's coming to PS in Spring), I also thought Wukong was over hyped ad shouldn't be on that list either.
@PuppetMaster I think the hype will carry it even if the gameplay and story is not as good as other games. People have been waiting two generations and 12 years for the next gta. I curious to see how many PS5s fly off the shelves just for gta 6.
@Oram77 It understandable that Gooner blade isn’t on the list… Rebirth not being there is a miss.
Still Wakes the Deep should've have taken the award for story. What a game that was 😌 The Chinese Room are masters in the writing room.
@Loamy Still Wakes the Deep is actually one of the best walking sim games and is seriously slept on, also the Voice acting is extremely good in it too!!
@AverageGamer Also Metaphor, Space marines 2, Stalker 2.
Huge congrats to Ted Price! Much deserved. No audio design nomination for Silent Hill 2 is a massive oversight. That was some next level work.
I'd say so much for the "Sony has no first party..." argument but, seeing as how this is clearly not the truth yet the notion persists, I'll refrain from saying it. Anyway, I think I actually did just say it.
Congrats to Sony! Astro Bot has been a absolute joy!
Also really happy to see Indiana Jone and the Great Circle get some wins. It’s a wonderful adventure and Disney could almost make a movie out of it!
Classic Indy!
Sports games have been ass for awhile so MLB winning was not a surprise
