Family-friendly toy company Hasbro has partnered with Saber Interactive, developer of one of 2024's most violently grimdark, gore-drenched games in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The two will work together to bring to life one of Hasbro's "tentpole IPs", which does present some intriguing possibilities.
Revealed during its latest earnings call, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks seemed pretty psyched about the whole thing (thanks, Polygon), revealing to investors that: "I’m especially excited to announce this one today, being a personal fan of many of this team’s games. Hasbro and Saber Interactive will collaborate on an all-new video game partnership developed by the team behind 2024’s megahit, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Combining high-octane single-player action and amazing multiplayer with Saber’s Swarm tech, this new AAA title, based on one of our tentpole IPs, will surely be a hit."
Being the superstitious sort, we'd want to touch wood after uttering anything like proclaiming something "will surely be a hit", but Cocks' seems content to tempt fate. As for what such a game could possibly be, well, Hasbro does have quite the breadth of IP to choose from; in terms of "tentpole", though, that probably means Transformers, Magic: The Gathering, or Dungeons & Dragons settings. Still, we could see My Little Pony benefiting from Saber's innovative Swarm tech; gritty Monopoly reboot, anyone?

Transformers would seem like the obvious one, though seeing a My Little Pony in the style of Space Marine would be hilarious.
MLP Horde shooter inbound! (Horse shooter?🤔)
A GI Joe game would also be one I’d love to see done properly, so although it will likely be Transformers, I’ll live in hope!!
Please let this be new transformers game 🤞
Would love to see a decent Transformers game as I cant recall a good one since Devastation.
Needs to be based around G1 though.
@Rich33 I know it's unlikely but maybe a follow up to Fall of Cybertron considering they just released a follow up to Space Marine. Heck I would take simple ports of WFC and FOC at this point.
Transformers yeah. They could use half the code they did for Space Marine 2 on that.
Spiritual successor to Fall/War of Cybertron PLEASE
the most underrated games of the PS3 gen
I was actually thinking G.I. Joe as the first to come to mind. But maybe because I’ve listened to Colin too long.
Warhammer 40k is an IP that only gets better in video games form as video games mature and graphics/performance improves. I think that's the case with Transformers, too. In the late 2000s you could never do a PS3 game which could emulate the insane movie CGI of cars transforming back and forth- but that can probably be done pretty soon. I think a new AAA transformers game could be cool.
What an unfortunate surname.
@DonJorginho they really need to put them back out.
@Bingoboyop
They were both good games, and did fit into the G1 narrative (mostly), but I really much preferred Devestation particularly the melee combat, and much better use of alt modes.

I think Saber could do a really cool D&D game, but Transformers or G.I. Joe would be a good fit, too.
@Jrs1 Imagine how many times he's been asked his surname and said 'Cocks' and the person has assumed it was Cox and he had to spell it out for them lmao
@Flippygruffle If you have a lisp you could actually say Kiss C.....
GI Joe could be cool. A bit bored of Transformers games, on paper its cool, but every single one for last 14 yrs looks and feels very much the same
The Warhammer 40K games they make give me a tentpole.
Transformers, GI Joe, Power Rangers.. Hasbro does seem to own a lot of my childhood.
It's going to be D&D or MTG. Gi Joe isn't that popular and Hasbro hates Transformers
