Wuthering Waves Pays Homage to Indie Darling Dredge in Major PS5 Update 1

Wuthering Waves’ first major update since launching on the PS5 is upon us, with v2.1 due out on 13th February.

Ostentatiously named ‘Waves Sing and the Cerulean Bird Calls’, this scheduled refresh features two new five-star characters: Phoebe and Brant.

You’ll also find a ton of new content, some of which has clearly been inspired by indie darling Dredge. Named the Old Man and the Whale, the event will see you head out on a fishing expedition, and the gameplay looks remarkably familiar to the aforementioned.

You’ll also find a new storyline, which will once again see you infiltrate the Montelli family’s vault. We got a small taste of this during the previous update, but it looks like there’ll be more to the gameplay this time around.

Other new environments, events, and storylines will feature, but one other big update incoming is an Echo Recommendation tool, which will suggest appropriate Echoes for you to use on your favourite Resonators, reducing your reliance on guides.

All in all, this seems like a strong first update for Wuthering Waves in its PS5 era, and the presentation continues to be remarkably impressive given the pace at which they’re iterating on this game.
