If you want to know more about the systems and gameplay mechanics that make up Assassin's Creed Shadows, this new video from IGN Fan Fest is well worth a watch.
The video itself is built around an interview with Shadows' creative director Charles Benoit, who breaks down combat, stealth, and even character-based progression, like acquiring skills and mastering different weapon types.
It also features a lot of fresh gameplay footage, which covers all of the same points. We get to see the agile Naoe stab her way through enemy-infested forts, and the bulky Yasuke dominate in deadly brawls.
Having watched the whole thing ourselves, we think Shadows is actually shaping up very nicely. The combat, for example, has a clear degree of depth to it that might have been missing from previous titles — and stealth is obviously a lot more involved than what players experienced in open world predecessors Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
The game's just around the corner at this point, still set to release for PS5 on the 20th March. But are you looking forward to Assassin's Creed Shadows? Keep your katana at the ready in the comments section below.

I did not think I could be less interested in this game but this footage is finding a way to prove me wrong
Is anyone else genuinely excited about this game? Even with the bloat, I really have enjoyed this new generation of AC games!
Looks and sounds good
I haven't touched an AC game since Origins but I'm definitely interested in this.
@thechetearly I'm not super excited, but I'm definitely looking forward to Shadows! I actually think that each of the RPG AC games have gotten a little worse with each entry, but this one seems closer to Origins, which I'm very much in favor of. The Japanese setting is also a huge boon for me.
I'm pretty confident that this will be a very solid entry, if only due to the fact that Ubisoft has so much riding on it.
I really hope it turns out to be good for those excited for it. But seeing some of this footage just really makes me wish we get a release date for Ghost of Yotei soon 🤞
@Logonogo You and me both!
This is the most invested, and conflicted, I've ever been with an Assassin's Creed game.
As a fan of A.C series. I play all but this one like the last 3 games, i'll be buying in a promotion
Yes looking forward to Ghost of Tenchu but with wisdom, ie when its £25 on sale 😉
How do some of you manage to be so uninterested in this game yet also manage to pop up in every article about it and even post first? It’s so weird…
That last delay has completely killed my excitement for this.
@AhmadSumadi It’s almost like we all visit the same site and read articles posted to it!
Have 8 games for march that i want to play and buy over time. Im out on AC at this point
@dskatter I mean, sure. But, as someone decently excited for Shadows, a lot of the articles about it since the delay are just in one ear and out the other.
So it is kinda remarkable that people who were always against the game are still mustering up enough anti-enthusiasm to post about how — still — they aren't into it.
@RoomWithaMoose @AhmadSumadi I checked out the footage to see if there was anything that would change my mind and make me more curious to check it out, it did the opposite and I shared my opinion. I am happy for anyone who is excited though and I hope it delivers on whatever they hope to get out of it
I can't say that I'm interested in yet another AC game, but I will say this... the visuals look utterly exquisite. The character animation and environmental detail is to be admired even if the game itself doesn't do anything particularly new.
@AhmadSumadi It's because we love PushSquare and read every single article. Also I liked AC in the past, but they got worse with the bloated Odyssey and straight out awful with Valhalla. I'm just keeping an eye on the series to see if I'd be interested again, but I'll probably just buy Ghost of Yotei and keep avoiding Ubisoft. I my answer satisfied you.
And just a little gift to make you happy: this game is so uninteresting, who would even buy it?
I am looking forward to this game! Based on the pre orders it will sell quite well.
Just watched the Skill Up preview from a month ago and so I’m not super excited
Just finished SW:Outlaws so perhaps I’m Ubi-outed for now
(Loved Outlaws though)
@thechetearly I'm very excited for this game to be honest. Ubisoft really seems to understand that they have to get this right and despite some fairly egregious stumbles, I truly believe they could knock it out of the park with this one. As a sucker for the highest tier version of games, not having to shell out over $100 is a nice bonus.
I haven't played Assassin's Creed since forever, never got to the last 3 RPG entries. We've always wanted AC in Japan for so long and it never came. And then Ghost of Tsushima happened. That being said, if I ever go back to Assassin's Creed, it will be with this one. It does look cool, I might pick this next month. Bleach Rebirth of Souls comes out in the same week and I'll have my hands full for a while
