Assassin's Creed Shadows PS5 PlayStation

Inevitably, Ubisoft has responded to the fact that copies of Assassin's Creed Shadows broke containment nearly a full month before its scheduled release date of 20th March on PS5. We covered the news yesterday, and after publication, it appears a number of shadowy individuals began streaming gameplay in various places, which the publisher has begun aggressively taking down.

The embattled firm addressed the unfortunate situation in a statement: "We are aware players have accessed Assassin's Creed Shadows ahead of its official release. The development team is still working on patches to prepare the experience for launch, and the footage shared online does not represent the game's final quality."

No developer wants to see their work out in the wild before it's ready, and it sounds like the team intends to use every last moment polishing Shadows to a brilliant sheen. While some level of damage has already been done, the extent of which remains to be seen, Ubisoft implores fans not to ruin it for others: "Leaks are unfortunate and can diminish the excitement for players. We kindly ask you not to spoil the experience for others. Thank you to our community for already taking steps to protect everyone from spoilers."

Will you keep to the shadows and avoid potential AC spoilers wherever possible? If you've been exposed, have these gameplay leaks diminished your excitement for the game? Let us know in the comments section below.
