Monster Hunter Wilds Lagiacrus

Well, this is what happens when you don't pay close attention to the end of trailers!

Admittedly, we missed this rather unsubtle tease, dropped into the latest Monster Hunter Wilds showcase. But as fans have been extremely quick to point out, it looks like a fan-favourite creature will finally return to the series this summer.

Lagiacrus is the beast's name — a leviathan monster that's basically a really big sea dragon. It can also spit electricity, which is always fun.

It first appeared in Monster Hunter 3, and reappeared in multiple titles afterwards. However, Lagiacrus was actually cut from Monster Hunter World, with Capcom citing animation issues. As you can imagine, the disappointment was palpable amongst veteran players.

Anyway, fans are certain that the beast's huge claws can be seen in the trailer for Title Update 1. Again, Lagiacrus isn't going to be part of the April update — which has now been fully detailed — but it's seemingly arriving this summer.
