Spotted by Gematsu (below), Brazil's age classification board appears to have revealed the existence of a new Plants vs. Zombies title.
The listing suggests it'll be called Plants vs. Zombies Reloaded, and onlookers are largely agreed that this is likely to be a remaster of the original strategy game.
The page lists the game for release on all modern platforms, including PS5, while the year of production is noted as 2009, which is when the original game first launched.
The beloved tower defence game first appeared on PS3 back in 2011, and while the series would evolve and continue with multiplayer shooters like Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and Battle for Neighborville on PS4, the tactical origins of the franchise aren't represented on Sony's modern consoles.
It looks like that may change in the near future, if this age rating is any indication. Hopefully it won't be too long before we learn what Plants vs. Zombies Reloaded truly is.

This game with coop (just like on ps3) will be amazing to play with my wife. I would buy it day one.
Hope it will be good old premium title without any ridiculous microtransactions.
@Tomato_Goose I hope it too, but somehow I doubt that
I'm not even a tower defense fan generally but I loved the first one back in the day. The sequels and spin-offs however didn't hit for me.
If this a remaster of the first one though if be interested.
I loved PvZ before they screwed it into multiplayer. Viva tower defense!
This would be awesome... one of my favourite PS3 games. Gutted when it was delisted in 2015 and I missed the chance to buy on Vita.
garden warfare 2 was the best
I spent a huge amount of time on PvZ Garden Warfare on PS4. Bloody love that game
@nomither6 I stand by the fact that the gamelay of that series, had it been tied to something like military or scifi, would have proven massively more popular. It was so so SO tight and satisfying. But players saw the PvZ skin and wrote it off.
You take that moment to moment gameplay, the classes, the shooter feel and slap a different coat of paint on it and you'd have a perennial heavy hitter in the TPS space.
The PS Vita version is probably the best there will ever be for this game. Tons of levels, tons of unlockables, absolutely 0 microtransactions, and pure fun.
Part of me feels a PS5 version wouldn't do so great considering PvZ's origins, and the rest of me fully believes that they'll add MTX.
Also didn't they fire the creator of the series after buying the company and IP? Blah
The shooter spin offs were fun. EA totally killed the tower defense game with part 2 and all the stupid micro transactions.
For me Bloons took over to scratch that tower defense itch. Mobile game paid the $10 for it, and can ignore all the micro transactions and have a full fledged game.
would love a new peggle
The Vita version of this game was one of my very first platinum trophies. I tried the other games in this franchise but bounced off them. If this is a remake/reboot of the first game I'd happily dip in again.
@aj21009 the Bloons games are great, I agree!
They ruined the games thru greed so hard pass for me.
Fair to see the tactical/tower defense side back but I still feel it will have the greed of 2 and others. Knowing EA.
Even Bloons I prefer the older ones not the modern ones. The game design was just obvious of direction and put me off.
The other ones were online and ok but not great.
The first PvZ was awesome. The second was a pay to win ****show. Hoping this doesn't disappoint.
@MidnightDragonDX I play both games religiously, it's the 3rd game that really stripped out the soul of the series, second game is my favourite of the bunch with how many plants you can unlock! So my peak interest in this new revival got me interested, the plant vs zombie games they have now on console is just as distasteful honestly 🤢
The best way to play the original plant's vs zombies game is the pc version, if you want to play the second game without microtransactions there is a custom patch version "redux" that let's the game be played normally, this is how I traditionally play the second game on my windows tablet with bluestacks 🤓
@JalapenoSpiceLife Oh, really? I'll have to look into that.
