Brilliant fighting game bundle Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection will be getting a meaningful update later this week on the PS4.
This updated edition of the game will come with two different builds of X-Men vs Street Fighter – one for the purists, perhaps, but a worthwhile inclusion nonetheless. You’ll also be able to bump up the resolution of Marvel vs Capcom 2 as well.
In addition, new artwork from Shinkiro and Cap-Jam music remixes will be added to the game’s gallery – all free-of-charge.

Elsewhere, a slew of quality-of-life improvements will be rolled out across all of Capcom’s compilations, including the Capcom Fighting Collection and upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection 2. These include an offline versus option and a quick restart feature.
All welcome improvements, then, and it’s great to see these games getting properly preserved on modern hardware.

I wish they give crossplay updates because it's hard to find online match for these retro games.
@PuppetMaster Agreed!
I think the price point is still a little too high, to be honest. Matter of factly, the only games I'd really even be interested in are MvC2, maybe the Xmen, and possibly the punisher beat em up. Paying 40 quid for 2/3 retro games just isn't doing it for me, but I imagine if it drops sub 30 in a decent sale, a lot more people would be tempted to bite.
The extra versions of X-Men vs Street fighter is pretty significant because the one the collection shipped with was essentially the last updated version which removed wall bounces and infinites which the community regarded as a "lesser version." So to have them back is a big gesture from Capcom because they didn't need to do that.

You'd be surprised, that level of acknowledgement and attention to detail when putting together retro collections such as these really go a long way. I remember the Alpha Collection on PS2 allowed you to mess around with the dip switches for each game, which (unless I'm missing something) wasn't present in the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection on PS4 (and they STILL haven't fixed the difficulty bug in Super Turbo)
@Andee Yeah that 30th anniversary came at the wrong time where Capcom's fighting game division changed leadership after it launched and the new guys clearly give a damn about Capcom's legacy.
A nice update, and pretty cool that it’s happening to both Capcom Fighting game collections as well. But man, Capcom really screwed up on that Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. That collection could use a much needed update.
@shonenjump86 I wonder if that's why in FC1 they included Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting and FC2 is including Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper as a way to make up for the 30th anniversary mistakes.
Personally I'm hoping they rerelease 3rd Strike online edition again.
@AdamNovice would actually like to have online version of Alpha 2. As much as I love Alpha 3, something about 2 always draws me to. And yes, 3rd Strike needs a comeback again.
@shonenjump86 Yeah, same - Alpha 3 on PS1 was my first experience of the Alpha series, and having come straight from Special Champion Edition on the Mega Drive it was like going from Zero to 60, and it was pretty mind-blowing, but a bit overwhelming. Alpha 2, which i discovered later on, felt a bit more balanced and grounded. Plus I actually preferred the music and character endings.
@Andee the music in Alpha 2 will always be my favorite
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection was a broken mess. It was also the only capcom collection done by digital eclipse. Their emulation has tended to be a lower quailty.
