Rematch was a surprising announcement from SloClap, the creators of Sifu, but it looks very promising in this new trailer — which also reveals a release date.
The online football game is coming to PS5 on 19th June, 2025.
Unlike football sims such as EA Sports FC, Rematch has you playing as a single player on the pitch, working with other players on your team to outmanoeuvre the opposition. You can see for yourself how that plays out in the above trailer.
It looks like there will be a fair amount of technique involved, which makes sense given the developer's history. There's an arcadey quality to it that reminds us of Rocket League, but there's certainly some fancy footwork you'll be able to employ here.

Anyway, it's a summer release for this one — are you interested in Rematch? Tell us in the comments section below.

This reminds me of Libero Grande
I completely forgot that Sifu even existed. I own it so need to give it a go at some point.
Looks absolutely dreadful.
This looks like an early Dreamcast game.
This looks ass lmao what, the gameplay and animations look off
So Rocket League, but the cars are people? Sounds silly.
I'm just so confused about this game.
How does a developer who creates a pretty rock solid kung fu puzzle game, in which makes you feel like a absolute badass when you pull off a continuous combo which could of done with a sequel to just smooth out some of its flaws and the genre is pretty popular.
To a janky doesn't look that good online multiplayer game which is probably not going to sell much because your audience isn't really looking for that.
It just baffles me and this game is probably going to make them close or st the very least have to cut staff because of the low sales of the game.
I understand people cry about cuts within the gaming industry but when companies are making decisions, where your going from a kung fu masterclass in gaming to janky online football, I start to wonder is it really any wonder this sort of thing happens within the gaming world.
It truly hasn't even grabbed my interest at all and normally if its a developer I like id at least give it ago, but this game just isn't it.
Edit;
I've just read the first line of the article, as I commented on just the trailer.
What actual planet are you on that the trailer looks remotely promising?
The animations look awful, the gameplay looks janky and the whole concept and visuals look more generic than anything I've ever seen.
You have also put "unlike ea sports fc" rematch has you playing as a single player. I dont know if you know this but ea sports fc has a single player mode where you control 1 character within the team with npcs as team mates and online also has a mode in which you can play as 1 player within a team of 11.
So yes its very much like a watered down version of ea sports fc but only this time its strictly online only.
Where in all what is factual does any of this seem promising?
Goes from creating sifu to this…
this. *****. looks. INCREDIBLE. i am going to be LOCKED IN in june. SloClap the GOATS!!!
why has no one previously thought of making a multiplayer football game thats 11 players against 11 players online.?
Perfect game for a demo.
@trev666 You can do it in EAFC.
